And what did Turner say about Weeden last year?

Well, he did say this:

Quote:

"We've had a lot of mixed results and more inconsistencies than I'd like, but that doesn't surprise me," Turner said. "However, we do need to have that sense of urgency that this thing's going to be on us real fast."

Turner doesn't expect Weeden to lose the job in preseason, saying, "I don't envision that happening because of the way he's playing, but we've got to go play. That's a question more for (coach Rob Chudzinski) than for me, but I think everyone in that locker room understands that we're committed to playing the guys that give us the best chance to win. Until a guy has started and played at a high level and won, there's always going to be competition."

yes he did,, if you listen to him now about TB it seems he is about ready to annoint him the starter.... without said competition.

The entire organizations seems to feel that way... I think the GM said on draft day that he hoped TB would be named the starter...wonder how the other QB's on the roster felt about that.

Oh well, that is minny's issue, my team has enough issues of it's own for me to worry about.

This one will trump all the previous ones because of the presence of TMZ icon, leading NFL jersey-seller and emerging local pitchman Johnny Manziel.

Manziel’s enormous national celebrity has dwarfed the local storyline of Brian Hoyer finally getting his first career opportunity to take over a team – and it being his hometown team, to boot. This strange dynamic has cast Hoyer in the role of underdog, if not nonentity, nationally.

Most national analysts casually dismiss Hoyer’s chances of winning the starting job because of the palpable perception that owner Jimmy Haslam and President Alec Scheiner want Manziel on the field for marketing purposes. After all, the Browns were promoting Manziel jersey sales on their official Website less than an hour after he was drafted 21st overall on May 8. Within days of drafting Manziel, the club reported a 4,000 increase in season ticket sales. Convesely, prior to the draft and the arrival of Manziel, positive reports of Hoyer’s recovery from ACL surgery barely nudged the ticket meter.

I think the reality today is, you live in a marketing world and after Randy and I reached an agreement the other day, the first owner that called me was Robert Kraft and he said come up and see me and I’ll tell you everything about football and business I know. It’s a competitive world and the questions I’ve been asking today have not just been about how’s Brandon (Weeden) looking or how Trent’s (Richardson) looking, but how does this practice facility stack up against everyone else’s practice facility? Do you have what you need to win here? How’s our stadium compare for the fans? I think those are the things that are important to get right. Will we have naming rights? Probably at some time or could we change the uniforms? I don’t know, but it is a marketing world we live in, and let’s be realistic about that. I don’t associate that with culture though. I think they are distinctly different. People may agree or disagree, but that’s our philosophy. In our business world, we changed our logo and our design of our stores multiple times over the years, but the basic culture and core beliefs - what we call Pilot Flying J values stay the same and hopefully that helps you.”

From Haslam's initial press conference.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Browns make moves: RB Terrance West on non-football injury list, but he insists he's healthy

The Browns placed rookie running back Terrance West and five other players on the non-football injury list today.

But West, a third-round pick in this year's draft, took to Twitter to assure fans he isn't dealing with anything serious.

"I'm healthy, ready to go," West tweeted this evening. "(NO WORRIES) #dawgpound."

A league source, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the situation, expects West to practice this week when training camp begins. He's in line to compete with veteran Ben Tate for the Browns' starting running back job.

West also shot down the notion he might have failed the Browns' conditioning test.

"Lol I passed my conditioning test," West tweeted. "You people stop making up your own stories."

The Browns' moves, included on the NFL's official list of transactions, were made on a day when rookies, injured veterans and quarterbacks reported to camp. The first full-squad practice will be held Saturday morning.

The NFI list is designated for players who suffered injuries away from the team. Players on the list remain on the roster and can practice as soon as they're cleared.

In addition to West, defensive end Billy Winn, inside linebacker Tank Carder, offensive tackle Chris Faulk, defensive tackle Jacobbi McDaniel and guard Jeremiah Warren are on the NFI list.

The Browns also claimed undrafted rookie offensive tackle Abasi Salimu off waivers from the St. Louis Rams. They waived defensive back Royce Adams, linebacker Brandon Magee and wide receiver Conner Vernon.

What about Roberston and Chris Kirksey battling it out for that opposite of Dansby, inside linebacker spot? That should be a very heated battle!

I forgot about that one. That should be an interesting competition as well. Only because Robertson did a pretty bad job last year and anything remotely consistent will be an upgrade.

According to Craig, he was "trying to do too much" last season. Sounds like a crap excuse, but he does have the tools to play the position. I'm sorry, but there isn't a LB in the league that is going to be able to cover Hartline, Horton may not have called that many solid good plays. I like Ray but I think he didn't play to the players strength as much as he "claimed" and preached. One of the worst defensives on 3rd down. Just food for thought. Not saying it all factored into his bad season, but could be some. He's got the speed, but... so does Kirksey and he's known for his coverage skills. One of the top coverage lb'ers in the draft.

So it'll be interesting how that position, and many others, unfold... guessing it'll be some long nights on a few of these decisions.

So, why is West on that non-football injury list? Anyone know?

What about Winn?

How about when they had Robertson covering Reggie Bush one-on-one all over the field. And people blamed Robertson. LOL

Chris Faulk - is he ever going to play a snap in practice or a game?

Just goes to show the amazing impact of off-season articles have on one's chances of making the team ......

The Browns site just had an article on Royce Adams up recently, as well as one on Brandon Magee. Now both are history, before camp starts.

Fame just doesn't pay.

I would assume that we'll find out about the NFI injuries .... sometime. I don't think that the team has to disclose them, and Pettine isn't one for giving out any injury info he doesn't have to. Defensive coaches tend to treat such things as state secrets.

I do find it a little strange that we are adding OL at such a rate. I suppose that the team is replacing Faulk's spot. He doesn't fit the team's schemes anyway ..... but being on the NFI list is still a concern. He has never been healthy in his NFL career. They also have Warren on the NFI list, and teams like having enough OL to go around.

Hopefully West and Winn have minor injuries. It certainly sounds that way in the case of West. As far as the other guys beside West and Winn, it doesn' seem like there is anyone irreplaceable there.
