"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

If true, it is doubtful either will ever get it. Whether on IR or not, there is a time and place for partying and this isnt it.

J/C
I haven't perused this thread as closely as I should have but here's my 2 cents.
First penny; There is no arguing he was (maybe still is) a self entitled, immature young man. Life came easy, the game at A&M came easy, and I'd even bet he was the cock of the walk in high school too. How he can come in to the NFL and NOT think he had to prepare and practice is telling of just how naive he is. It's unfathomable to think he is, even now that unaware of what it takes to succeed in this league. And honestly, that angers me.
Second penny; I have read/watched/heard stories of maybe the Browns exploring the option of drafting another quarterback in the first round. If that should come to pass, considering how "well" we have drafted in the first round for the last several years to say nothing of taking Manziel, I'd think it would be a sign as large as Texas that this front office doesn't know what it is doing.
Instead, go grab us a marquee o-lineman, a playmaking linebacker, a run stopping d-lineman, hell, I'd argue we could use a dependable wideout and unload Gordon. A pile driving running back would be nice, one that holds on to the ball.
Cleveland is where quarterbacks come to die. We don't surround them with the talent they need to be successful in this league. Put a foot up Johnny's rectum, as far as it will go, put some players around him and then lets meet again in December of '15 and talk.

I'm not so sure Vers was putting a Career evaluation on JM I think he went technical on what he saw and was pointing out that JM has a lot of football to learn.
You're right. It wasn't a conclusion. It was an evaluation of his performance in that particular game and it also was about how many things he needs to fix. I have to add this. I find it irritating how many people are trashing the guy. People are calling him a big-mouth. What? The guy has said all the right things. He is now officially an underdog and I am rooting for him to shut all his detractors up. well isn't that nice. the guy says all these good things and dosnt back it up on or off the field... but you go ahead and defend him because he is a underdog? pfft.

since the season started, he has done whatever was asked but he was late for a treatment and that should not happen. No excuses for it but lets stop acting like he did something that is beyond forgiveness. He is on IR and he was late for treatment. Stupid especially with the comments he had just made but it is what it is. Lets just hope this is the end of it.

Manziel has admitted he didn't prepare well enough or study well enough, so let's not pretend he's "done whatever was asked."
Gordon is a punk, and Manziel is a punk.

I am sick of Manziel and his dramarama already. I hope this team has a different plan for QB next season.

Let's not pretend that Manziel has does everything that has been asked of him, he hasn't. Lack of preparation, out until 2:30am and getting into scrums w/the local nudniks at 2:30am less than 48 hrs before a game. Enough excuses for this guy. The Browns had to send security to his house to look for him. Wonderful. I want(ed) him to succeed as much as any Browns fan, but this unbelievably immature and/or narcissistic behavior, is bordering on nauseating. Here is more to the story on he and Gordon's latest mishaps per Pat McManamon, the AP, Jeremy Fowler and Adam Schefter. This article could be posted in the Gordon thread as well, so anyone could include there if interested. *Note, I did cut out a bulk of the article on Gordon since this is a Manziel thread. The full article is attached in the link. Article: Both Gordon and rookie quarterback Johnny Manziel were absent from the Browns' walk-through Saturday morning, and the team had trouble locating them, a source close to the team told ESPN's Pat McManamon. The Browns did not mention Manziel in their release, and Manziel made the trip to Baltimore with the team, a source told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. Manziel was placed on injured reserve after suffering a hamstring injury in last week's loss to Carolina. Manziel had to be present for either the walk-through or, since he was on injured reserve, treatment for his injured hamstring. When he did not show for either, the team had to search for him. Browns security on Saturday morning visited Manziel's home in Cleveland to check on the rookie quarterback about his treatment, sources told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler and Pat McManamon. Because Manziel was late, he was fined, a source said. Other Browns this season attended walk-throughs while on IR, including Miles Austin, who did not miss one after being declared out for the season with a lacerated kidney. The suspension marks the end of a disappointing year for Gordon, who already served a 10-game ban earlier this season for repeated drug violations. By being active for only five games, Gordon fell one game short of the requirement for an accrued season, meaning he will be a restricted free agent -- instead of an unrestricted free agent -- following the 2015 season. ESPN's Adam Schefter, ESPN.com Browns reporters Pat McManamon and Jeremy Fowler and The Associated Press contributed to this report. Article

I think its funny that my fandome gets questioned when I don't hide the fact that I can't stand Manziel in a Browns uniform and find it very difficult to root for him for these very reasons in his personal life, his lack of any measurable NFL skillsets, and horrible work ethic. I feel we blew the pick at 22 and hope that this front office learns from their mistake of going for the flash in the pan pick.
Regardless of how Shaw plays tomorrow, I hope that our only 2 active QBs next year are Hoyer (or Bradford) and Shaw. Move Mr. Football to WR or the practice squad.

J/C...
I went to the Pro Football Hall of Fame today to throw the football around with a friend on the 50 yrd field they have there..
we decided to go into the gift shop..While in there I saw Johnny Manup figures dolls... I was ticked off..told my friend I can't believe how in the hell can this be justified...
I told her if I had the money I would have bought them all then pitched them in the dumpster...

Manziel party reportedly reason for his walk-through tardiness Johnny Manziel's tardiness Saturday might have been a result of his own doing. Manziel, who is on the injured reserve list while rehabbing a hamstring injury, threw a big party Friday night that was attended by many members of the team and was the reason the Browns fined Manziel for showing up late to a team walk-through, CBS Sports reported Sunday. The Browns had to send security personnel to Manziel's house to try and locate him when he did not show up for Saturday's walk-through, according to the report. This would be the latest incident of Manziel's off-field antics affecting his standing with the team. Manziel was seen on multiple occasions during the offseason partying with teammates and celebrities, and even was famously found drinking on an inflatable swan. Manziel promised to take his job as Browns quarterback more seriously, but this latest episode might give the organization reason to be concerned. He struggled in his two starts this season, going 13 for 26 for 112 yards and two interceptions before suffering a season-ending hamstring injury against the Carolina Panthers in Week 16. "The main thing is I'm not the guy that I've always been," Manziel said on Tuesday. "I'm not the Johnny Manziel that came in here a year ago and was talking to you guys when I first got here. I feel like I hardly know you guys, but it's a lot different now obviously for me. It's been a year of growing up for me. This is a job for me now. I have to take this a lot more seriously than maybe I did at first still going home and doing whatever I was doing in the offseason." http://www.foxsports.com/nfl/story/johnn...d-browns-122814The Browns had to send security personnel to Manziel's house to try and get him to go to work!!!!!!!!!! are you freakin kidding me!!!!

Johnny having a party on the Friday before a game is about the dumbest thing he could possibly have done. He apparently wants to prove all his critics correct and if he is this stupid, no way you hand the reigns over to someone with that little respect for the game, his teammates, the coaches and the front office that invested a hell of a lot in this kid. I dont care if he is partying his ass off after the season but this if true is just totally disrespectful.
I know Hoyer isnt the answer, he just doesnt have the talent but there is 2 starting QBs in my opinion that can help this team and that is Mallett and Glennon.

Manziel just said a few days ago that he's going to need to take this more seriously.. (paraphrasing) and then he turns around and does this..
Gilbert was beat on by teammates and said he's going to work to "make it right" AND then he is late for a meeting.. he's out today as well.
So that's Gordon and Gilbert out today because they couldn't bother to be on time for meetings and Manziel fined because he couldn't show up on time for scheduled treatment.
What a damn shame..

This team is starting to get enough talent to compete for the AFC Noth with 1 exception. QB!
I liked the way Hoyer was leading the team until he started to turn the ball over. I was really hoping Manziel would be able to be the future. The last 5 weeks have truly been a disaster and has set the team back. It has proved that this team still does not have a QB. They must do whatever it takes to get 1 this off season.
I would trade both #1's for Jamies Winston. I am not sold on Marcus Marriota. If the front office does not want to invest in another drafted QB then I would prefer Jay Cutler.

Seriously, you want Winston? You act as if character doesn't matter................ Gordon, Manziel, now Gilbert. How's that for "character"?
I want nothing to do with another person like them, and Winston has shown all the signs of being like them.

Well, he is staying true to form from the press at A&M..he was known for the partying at Texas and late night scenes..it seems like he as put more into the JM marketing company than football. I've been reading some interesting stories on his A&M partying and growth of this name recognition focus. Its like he wants all the rewards with no effort or performance - thus the entitlement minder that seems to come out. I'll give him a minimal benefit of the doubt and see how much pride he has. The fact that he stayed out late and partied - well he was not playing anyway so who knows what his mindset was or how serious he considered the meeting. If he was starting - then yea, we have problems. Sounds like the coaching staff has some work to do to unite the team to the current vision...

See,these guys don't give a crap. Just a bunch of dudes with money who packed the season in,and want to enjoy the holidays. What do they have to celebrate anyways? They failed at their job,and I don't see how this club can ever get over the hump when that's the mindset. I'm embarrassed by all the crap going on. This FO better get serious about the kind of program they're running, and the type of guys they're bringing in,if they ever want to be a championship team.

I think Pettine has lost the locker room already ... I'm going to disagree with you here, Water - I think the way you "lose a locker-room" is by letting things like what Manziel, Gordon, and Gilbert did slide. Players who busted their asses all year start thinking there's a double standard.

Adding Winston to this team would be the equivalent dousing the locker room with gas and lighting it on fire.
Look what manziel, gilbert and Gordon were able to accomplish. Complete destruction of character.
We can't afford to add another punk to this team.

Manziel, ... threw a big party Friday night that was attended by many members of the team... So, guys who are actually going to play in the game were partying Friday night. Nice. And Manziel is really demonstrating he gets it. Rooting for the Browns is so depressing.

I won't knock players for going to a party. It's their actions at the party and how it effects their work that matters.
There are guys like Manziel and Gordon who put the party ahead of their jobs. Then it appears there are players who went and put their jobs ahead of the party.
I don't fault anyone for going, but I do fault those whose priority list is all out of whack.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.
