Looks like I'm going to go broke. Being single, I'm exactly the type of person Obama will rob to pay for all the social programs he proposed.
Which social program in particular are you sure will rob you? free community college free childcare paid sick days for everyone You really think all this stuff is free? The money is going to come from somewhere. I might as well just have my direct deposit rerouted to Obama's account since I'll need to give 100% of my paycheck to the government to pay for all the freeloaders. Wanna bet those rascal Fiscally irresponsible Republicans tell him... NO! NO! and NO! Ospenda, your credit card is Maxed out!

NO! NO! and NO! Ospenda, your credit card is Maxed out! Still waiting on evidence of the Republicans being fiscally responsible. But if you wish to keep spouting nonsense like a child, that's amusing as well.

I guess what I'm asking is what process will the government use to target your specific direct deposit, because if it's only the government spending money that robs you then how can you tell which specific program it is. What if the tax breaks or corporate subsidies are the reason you're getting robbed? How can you tell? How will you be able to trace your dollars to one specific program and if you can't then doesn't that really mean you just don't agree with those programs?

well since we are on to extremes....
i was in the military. we got paid sick days, or "quarters".
am i a freeloader too?
i get the GI Bill just because served at least 3 years. paid for by the government...or tax payer money.
thats freeloading as well.
and i wouldn't say free childcare is smart, but as someone with two kids, childcare rates are STUPID ridiculous right now. almost HALF my paycheck goes to that.
and most of them don't even do anything. if the kid has a fever, i have to pick my kids up, while not getting a reduced rate for that day.
I have 5 kids. Daycare sucks. My wife decided it would be cheaper for her to stay home than to work and give her entire paycheck to the daycare. We've been a 1 income family ever since, and she is just now preparing to go back to work. As for your time in the military, I think you've earned a GI Bill and those sick days. At least you were serving your country for those things. What have the other people done that may get those for free?

As for the SOTU speech: If I really wanted to get lied to, I'd talk to my kids after they get in trouble. At least my kids are more convincing with their lies.

IMO i didn't "earn" my GI Bill. yes i deployed, but i volunteered. nobody held a gun to my head and said "do this". anybody who knows or has been in the military knows that if you aren't deployed...you really are wasting time all day. there's time i send my soldiers home at 10 am and told them to keep their phones on for a week straight because there was ZERO to do. there are single, or even both parents, doing everything they can just to make ends meat in the civilian world. nobody can just up and get a 40k + job a year. there are people who don't make the cut. not because they don't have the skill, but because there aren't enough positions for that job or anything else. obama isn't trying to give everybody a 45K a year paycheck. these moves are simply a quality of life change. but far too often people want to see the extreme, and then they start thinking in extremes. i mean really? was squires comments about giving his whole check direct deposit to obama needed? yet theres so many people who think like that. there's no grey area. theres no exceptions. theres people who have good jobs and people who are lazy and entitled. so compared to the daily grind that civilians have to go through, i didn't earn a damn thing. so yes, THOSE people should be able to get atleast an associated from a community college for free. THEY should have childcare cost reduced, they SHOULD be able to have sick days paid. because getting sick HAPPENS. and some people really shouldn't be going to work with some of the crap they have. one thing i learned in life, in war, just as a man: when you take care of the man beside you, he not only returns the favor, he helps the other guy standing by him, and THATS how the world changes for the better.

somebody's off their meds again. Somebody's deflecting again because they can't make a coherent argument that the Republicans are fiscally responsible. Honestly...why do you do this? You know what you're saying is bunk, otherwise you'd at least attempt to make a half-baked argument. Why make a fool out of yourself by shouting made up nonsense and then resorting to nonsensical, childish sniping adorned with emoticons when people ask you to make a case for your gibberish? If you're not going to even attempt to make a rational argument, maybe just get out of the way and let the adults talk?

one thing i learned in life, in war, just as a man: when you take care of the man beside you, he not only returns the favor, he helps the other guy standing by him, and THATS how the world changes for the better. You didn't earn anything? Yes you did. You signed up for a crap job that can possibly send you into a terrible situation, and if you quit you can be charged with a crime. Taking that chance that you will be sent into a war zone is earning it in my book. College shouldn't be free, even if it's just community college. One of the reasons you pay for college is so that person is invested in their education, and will strive for the best education they can get. Most kids now treat college as that chance to party once they're away from their parents. Is obama trying to give everyone a $45K paycheck? I'd say no. I believe he's trying to make everything 'equal', which I see as a bad thing. If everyone is given the same education, we will lose innovation. We are not cookie cutter products. Common Core will fail because it attempts to teach everyone in a similar, politically correct manner. I fear for what the government might do to college once they get their hooks into that institution.

Swish - if you give somebody something for free, that's usually how they value it - worth nothing. After all, it was given to them.
You think you didn't earn the GI bill? Okay. 2 things: If you think you didn't earn it, don't use it, OR accept that you DID earn it and use it wisely, as it seems you are doing.
Edited to add this: We already have free K-12 education in this country. Most take advantage of it, some don't. If a 2 year associates degree is mandated and free, all it will do is increase taxes to benefit the very, very few that already have options, if they want to take on the responsibility.
May sound harsh.........but it won't be long until we hear "well, my 2 year degree pales in comparison to that persons 4 year degree.........I ought to get a 4 year degree for free."

I liked the post that said something to the effect that the choice they had was whether they wanted to vote for people who spent their money on health care or people who wanted to spend it on bullets and guns.
Those are pretty much the choices.
Then we have one guy going around TRYING (and with zero evidence so far), that the party willing to give billions upon billions in corporate tax loop holes are so much more fiscally responsible than those who wish to spend billions upon billions for social programs. Many of which actually help working people.
The same guy who falsely claims an effective tax rate of 33% for business that fails to take those loop holes into account for what they actually pay. To him I guess, those tax loopholes simply don't exist?
Neither party is fiscally responsible. Never really have been for a very long time. They both simply spend it in different directions. Those are the facts and nobody can show evidence to the contrary.
Maybe that's why they don't even try to do anything other than spew rhetoric.

If we don't raise the level of education in our nation, we will not have the educated work force to attract higher paying jobs on a global scale.
Better and higher education is an investment in the future of the tax base. In Tennessee, our GOP Gov. has done exactly the same thing here Obama is proposing on the national level. Of course here in Tenn., since he's a GOP Gov. it's a great idea. lol Our Gov. is smart enough to know that if he wishes to draw high paying jobs to our state, he must provide a higher education to the people within the state to do so.
It's an investment to increase better jobs, which in turn increases your tax base for long term stability economically.
It would be nice if people looked at the logic of such an investment for the betterment of our economy rather than point the fingers back and forth in the us verses them debate.

All I know is when taxes get so high I can't afford heat, I will go to Free College to stay warm. I'm sure that's a major concern of yours. Way to address the point. But you know, Gov. Haslam is a Republican Gov. here in Tennessee, so I guess one of those fiscally responsible people you always talk about thinks it's a sound investment too. So far I don't believe anyone has had their heat turned of because of it.

Erick and Arch:
the point is, people work just as hard as i did, yet i got the free college and they didn't.
i'm using mine simply because it's not like i can give it to somebody else. i didn't serve the 10 years need to transfer it to my kids. only 8.
i think these issues are simply a quality of life thing.

What kind of college education are you talking about? Doctors, sure, nursing, sure, engineers, sure. Basket weaving, no. Outdoor recreation? No. The list goes on and on. Plus, if you put a 2 year degree in everyones hand, it won't be long until you're expected to put a 4 year degree in everyones hand. Specialized degrees are one thing. But, we need ditch diggers, construction workers, electricians, plumbers, truck drivers, etc. Desire to learn a trade - be it a doctor, or an electrician, is the most important thing. Desire. And work ethic.

It won't go into "everyone's hands" Arch. Both here in Tenn. and according to what Obama said last night, you have to put in the work. A certain GPA is required as well as graduating on time. It only applies to a community college and I think we both know that many simply aren't interested in college.
As with anything, there's no perfect solution. But I do believe that having these minimum standards help qualify people that have some desire and work ethic is a solid start in the right direction.
I do know this policy was a strong contributor to me voting for Haslam here in Tennessee. He's brought a lot of jobs to the state and helped the economy a lot. I believe his college program will increase the education level in the state and bring even more, better paying jobs to the state which will directly be a positive impact on the states economy for decades to come.
Oh, and as an edit. It's for two years only. It helps cut down on student debt so that those wanting a four year degree or a doctorate degree can further their education as they see fit. A two year degree won't make you a doctor or a lawyer, but it will help you in a specialized field to a better paying job.

Actually, the first time I heard this CC idea, I said to myself, 'they should do it for trade schools before anything.' I could get behind that. I wouldn't want it to be free, for the simple reason if you give someone something for free, that's usually the value they put on it. But yeah, I could see a "hey, we're going to contribute to your trade schooling, and in return, upon your graduating, we're going to get you a job that you will need to work at for "x" years (2? 4?), but you will be working at a slightly lower wage for those years and your employer will be repaying us "x" amount." After the completion of those "x" years, you will be free to stay at the current company and receive pay commensurate with your experience, or you are free to move to a different company if it benefits you."

i mean really? was squires comments about giving his whole check direct deposit to obama needed? yet theres so many people who think like that. there's no grey area. theres no exceptions. theres people who have good jobs and people who are lazy and entitled.
Obama thinks government is the answer to everything. I made my comment because I believe if Obama could, he would have the government take 100% of everyone's money and spend it how as he sees fit. People make poor decisions if they keep having kids but can't afford the costs. If people make poor decisions, I have to help pay for their poor decisions. People don't have to take accountability for their actions. Make mistake, here's a handout. I get unfortunate things happen. Parent loses a job, severe injury keeps one out of work, etc. I have no problem helping people in these kind of situations. I am against helping people that are just going to keep expecting handouts off the backs of other tax payers.
It's supposed to be hard! If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard... is what makes it great!

As the wealthy takes more government handouts than any lazy person does.

when did god decide "ya know what? these old rules sucks!! time to make some new ones!!"
when is the next update due? i wanna talk to him before it happens. Well, if there were to be another 1st coming of the Messiah, then you'd be in luck .... but since there won't be, I'm afraid that you are out of luck there. The Old Testament had one purpose, that that was to amplify sin among mankind, and to demonstrate the need for God's mercy. Man thought that he could be worthy of heaven all on his own, through his own works. God put an end to that pretty quick with the Law. Man found that he still needed the mercy of God. In the Old Testament, man was required to offer the most perfect of animal sacrifices to God in order for man to be forgiven of his sins. It was a continuing process, and man could never say "I made a great sacrifice, so now I am now redeemed forever." Jesus came to the earth to be the perfect sacrifice for all mankind, to forever redeem those who would believe in Him. Jesus lived a perfect life, according to the every Law of the Old Testament, and thus he was the only one who could take on the sins of man onto Himself, thus justifying and redeeming mankind. Once Jesus was crucified for the sins of man, the old law fell away. Man no longer needed to make sacrifices to God. Man did not need to follow the ceremonial laws. Man was now redeemed by the Grace of God, as opposed to any of their own works. It is so simple that I truly believe that some people think it is too simple. It almost has to be harder for God to forgive us of our sins .... but really, all it takes is acceptance of Christ as our Savior, repentance of our sins, and to ask God for forgiveness. The Bible tells us that if we do these through Christ, who redeems us, then God is faithful to forgive us. What could need to be made easier than that? What "update" could possibly make things easier?
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
John 14:19 Jesus said: Because I live, you also will live.

God made weed. Man made alcohol. Who do you trust?
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I give him full credit on the economic turnaround, Yea, once the Republicans hid his checkbook, things started to improve! The best you should give him credit for when it comes to the economy is he found a 6 year cure for a 2 year flu. 2 Year Flu? LMAO The GOP under Bush wrecked the WORLD'S ECONOMY right before Obama took office... You smoking something that effects your short term memory? You living in a fact free bubble? OMG you have no clue. And to whoever posted the "sour grapes" comment, I'm not sure what you are talking about and apparently you don't know my politics. Sour grapes for what? The Republicans taking the house? LOL I could care less. And just so you know that has less to do with popularity and much more to do with gerrymandering. That's one thing I'll give this new breed of Republicans, they sure can spin some BS. They were not given the house due to being liked, they got it for people wanting to punish Dems and because of gerrymandering period. Only the political trolls try to claim a great victory there. The democrats deserved to lose the house for letting the republicans push them around. They should have stuff legislation down their throats and did NOTHING. For those who don't know, I'm independent. I personally wish there were no party lines just common sense and sifted turds.

huh?
when did god decide "ya know what? these old rules sucks!! time to make some new ones!!"
when is the next update due? i wanna talk to him before it happens. I now see that I should've been high before reading this. You asked, so I answered. It is such an easy answer that it really shouldn't be be painful or difficult in any way, unless someone has decided that they need a much more difficult answer, and this is just too easy, and thus cannot possibly be. God wants a relationship with you. He wants to know and love you, and for you to know and love Him. He wants you to spend eternity with Him, in His love and glory. What is the price of this eternity in absolute paradise and joy? Simply to accept Him as your Lord, and to repent and ask for His forgiveness of your sins. That's it. I would consider you my brother as a Browns fan. (and surely we are family, because we have been unable to walk away from this team we love, and a history over the past 20 years that would chase away any less than family) I consider you my brother upon this earth which we live. I pray that one day you will also be my brother in Christ. I do not want for anyone to be lost, especially not someone I know, whether online or in real life.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

However, it was not intended for you. Just an observation based on some of the commentary and negativity about certain political parties within this thread. Not one to back down from posts. I'm with you. Don't really care what others think, never have, never will. Just enjoy the variety of viewpoints represented here. Each to their own. We can debate til the cows come home but only time will tell.

National Debt 2009...$10 Trillion (Obama takes office)
National Debt 2015...$18 Trillion Can we get some national debt numbers under Reagan or Bush? Clearly they must have reduced it, given the way you speak? "What about them?" isn't a coherent argument for the GOP being fiscally responsible. But you can't speak to that, because they're not fiscally responsible. Barack Obama: Added $6.167 trillion, a 53% increase to the $11.657 trillion debt level attributable to President Bush at the end of his last budget, FY 2009. George W. Bush: Added $5.849 trillion, a 101% increase to the $5.8 trillion debt level at the end of Clinton's last budget, FY 2001. Bill Clinton : Added $1.396 trillion, a 32% increase to the $4.4 trillion debt level at the end of Bush's last budget, FY 1993. George H.W. Bush : Added $1.554 trillion, a 54% increase to the $2.8 trillion debt level at the end of Reagan's last budget, FY 1989. Ronald Reagan : Added $1.86 trillion, 186% increase to the $998 billion debt level at the end of Carter's last budget, FY 1981. Jimmy Carter : Added $299 billion, a 43% increase to the $699 billion debt level at the end of Ford's last budget, FY 1977. http://useconomy.about.com/od/usdebtanddeficit/p/US-Debt-by-President.htm
