Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

--Jason Pierre-Paul. We need a pass rusher, big time.

--Sean Witherspoon--Coming off a horrific injury, but he is a good player at a position of need.

I need to do some studying. I have been lax this year. I will get back to this.

Oh.............I am not saying we can get all these guys. I am simply saying we should make a run at them.

I would love it if they could get Suh!

I honestly think with the amount of money Suh is going to get from someone, he won't ever be "worth it"

We could slightly overpay 3 different people that would help other places for the price you're ganna get Suh...

Remember when people chastised the Browns (and those who didn't like him) for not signing Lance Moore last season and how his deal was a steal for the Steelers? Well, he might be available again! rofl

Who realistically can the Browns land in Free Agency?

Realistically? Tim Tebow would be more than happy to be here! grin

Could you imagine having Tebow, Manziel and Hoyer all battling for first string? saywhat naughtydevil

I think we should target:

Jason Pierre-Paul for a pass rush and Mark Sanchez to back up Manziel and Bryce Petty in the second round if he is there.

You know, people are mentioning Sanchez as a possibility, and I am ok with that.

And I am NOT ok with me being ok with that.

Lance Moore sucks. We cut him Pitt picked him up, and he has done squat. He wants released, because he knows he will see little playing time.

I think you are thinking of Evan Moore. Lance Moore was on our team for only a little while and never actually played a game for us. He was a moderately successful slot receiver for the Saints from 2006 to 2013.

Suh is an awesome 4-3 defensive tackle. We play a 3-4. So either we change to a 4-3, or sign Suh to a HUGE deal and play him out of position. No thanks. If we ran a 4-3 I'd definately be pushing for Suh. He's a big time force in that defense. But we don't. What we need is a TRUE 3-4 defensive end. One to bookend with Bryant. Tall, fast, with excellent pass rush skills. That's our one need on the DL. But above all else we need LINEBACKERS. Running a 3-4 and being as linebacker poor as we are is a not good. We have no pass rush. That has to change. We can't stop the run. THAT has to change. Mingo is a bust, and Kruger has been a disappointment. Time to find us some REAL 3-4 linebackers and get this defense on track.

I know you have a tendency to take a negative view of everything, but why would you say Kruger has been a disappointment? His first year we didn't see the numbers we would like, but he had a very good year last year.

I'd be fine with JPP too. And agree on Sanchez. No thanks. I'd much prefer to trade for Nick Foles if possible. Either way I'm torn about drafting a QB. I'd love it if I actually thought Farmer knew a good one from a bad one. But considering he's the guy that drafted Johnny Rehab, I'm wary of him wasting yet another pick on a bust at the position....

You know something, you're right. I just looked up his stats and he had a better year than I thought. 11 sacks. Didn't realize he had that many. On this team that's excellent! So I'll admit I was wrong about his season last year..... he's the ONLY guy on the team that didn't disappoint when it came to rushing the QB. smile

How did Mingo do in relation to our 4 last first round picks?

Let's see.........who were they? Ahhh, yes........

--TRich: He didn't play for us this year. He was benched in Indy and didn't even dress the last couple of games.

--Weeden: Cut by the new regime.

--Gilbert: Total butthole who missed practices and meetings and showed up late for others. Said he would rather sleep in than study hard like K. Williams. Got beat out by every cb on the roster and even a safety got time at corner ahead of him late in the year.

--Manziel: Started two games late in the year. Couldn't make it through the second one. Played perhaps the worst game at qb I have ever witnessed. Has checked himself into rehab.

Now, let's look at Mingo.

--Started 15 games in each of his first two years. Played through a painful shoulder injury. Played a ton of snaps on defense and participated on most special teams plays. He's a good teammate and hard worker. Does what is asked of him even if it doesn't best suit his talents. He actually--unlike the other 4 losers--contributes.

Oh...........wait......I forgot something. He wasn't drafted by the regimes you guys love. He was drafted by the regime you despised.

Okay, okay.......I got it. You're right......he sucks and is the worst draft pick we ever made.

None of that has anything to do with the fact the he ALSO was a bad pick..

Do I think he can get better, and become productive? Yes.

But my (clearly sarcastic) point was that, going into this year, I didn't expect much from him, and then he was hurt, so I expected even less.. Hell at one point I was hoping he'd shut it down and get healthy..

I don't care who drafted who, but you clearly do..

So, who would you have taken?

That was the worst draft I have seen in years.

The TRich draft and the Gilbert draft were two of the strongest drafts ever.

Sorry man, I don't believe you.

I would of taken the deal STL offered us (move to 16, pick up a 2nd)

But that's irrelevant.. Mingo currently isn't a good player, if he was a 3rd round pick he probably would of been traded for scraps by now..

And again.. Comparing the 12 and 14 drafts have nothing to do with Mingo.. That's like saying you wouldn't take a QB at #1 because he's not as good as Luck or Elway..

Mingo is not a good player as of right now. He is also not a bad player. He is an average NFL starter. From that draft we should consider that a win.

I have hope that he will continue to grow as a player and that when healthy he will be able to rush the passer successfully on a consistent basis.

I like Pettine and I hope I am not starting another black/white conversation, but I thought we misused Mingo this year.

Yeah, he is better in coverage than Sheard and Kruger, but I feel we are wasting his athleticism.

Did you watch that dude for the Pats? What is his name? Darn. Is it Jamie Collins? Long, rangy guy. Similar build to Mingo. They move him all over the place. Play him outside and rush the passer. They play him in the middle and he either drops back or shadows the qb or rb, depending on the other team's strength.

I would like to see Mingo used more in that role.

I would guess that Mingo was not used as a pass rusher as much as we would have liked because of his injury.

I was thinking about that, but..........as I was typing, I started thinking about are other two OLBers..........Kruger and Sheard. I don't think either one has the ability to be effective in coverage, so maybe they were forced to use Mingo in that role??

I don't know.............just speculating.

Vers, I would bet a $1, going all out here, that is exactly what O'Neil does next season. My belief the overall defense never got comfortable until the second half. They lost Gipson. Skrine and Hayden got banged up. At this point I think growth went idle.

My belief the defense never fully developed. Going into the second year I think a better understanding takes hold. I also feel O'Neil will move Sheard, Mingo, and Kruger around more disguising coverages. This is when we will see pressure. Pettine and O'Neil weren't in Buffalo last year, but the defense elevated their game. Was it Schwartz or the defense got better?

The bad thing about our defense is that our best pass rusher is also the guy who is best at setting the edge. (Kruger)
