It used to be, a doctor could write a pain med prescription and add 'X' amount of refills, or call in a refill prescription to a pharmacy.

Now, one must go to the doctor in person (and pay a co-pay) to get a new written prescription every time.

and y'all wouldn't have to do that if weed was legal.

you could just smoke a bowl and you wouldn't be in pain for a good amount of time.

its a win/win.

I will say that when I did smoke weed my need for pain medication was far less. There were days that I still needed it, but far less often.

Even now I take percoset because unlike oxycontin, it's not time released. I only take them when I can barely move and it makes it an elective to take only when absolutely necessary instead of taking a larger, time released dosage.

Weed should definitely be legal. The only thing is, even if it were legal, corporations and insurance companies would still have every right to make it a condition of employment to not smoke weed. They could still have it in their drug testing program. Just like some hospitals do with nicotine.

So legality still won't trump the corporate big brother.

Thanks man. It's something most of those who have posted here for a long time know. I've got a wonderful wife and family. As such I'm very blessed and it's a small price to pay for all I've been blessed with. Things could be far worse and it's just become a part of every day life.

Physical Therapy saved my life a while back. Ever try it for building core strength?

Yes. Went through Physical therapy and physical rehab. It's that a huge amount of scar tissue in my spine is causing a lot of issues. I had a major spinal fusion surgery of the L4, L5 region and have a lot of other damage in the middle of my spine they want to do surgery on. It's just degenerative issues that simply get worse over time. Not much can really be done.

I am you a few years ago. Same diagnosis. Same areas. I also had C6 completely removed, plastic and metal replaced it. We know pain. God bless you.

What is it with L4 and L5? That is where I am having problems with my back as well. I also have scoliosis in my spine as well, (I seem to recall the reading doctor saying 15%, but I can't swear to it) but if I understood the doctor correctly, that particular problem is located higher in the spine than would cause the symptoms I have have.

Thanks 40. I know both you and YTown can relate. I doubt I ever would have had surgery, but it was to the point that if I stayed on my feet for over 15 minutes or so, my legs would begin to get numb to the point I had the choice to sit down or fall down. So there really wasn't much choice at that juncture.

The surgery really didn't help things a lot in the pain department but was very helpful from a functionality standpoint. At least after the surgery grocery shopping was doable.

having sex could possibly give you a heart attack.

watching TV all day could possibly making you gain weight.

running could possibly break your leg.

drink too much water and you can die.

drink too much alcohol and you'll black out, and have your friends drawing penises on your forehead.

pop too many pills and you can OD.

drive and you could possibly wreck and get injured/ or die.

talking on the cell phone could give you cancer.

smoking cigarettes can give you cancer.

yet all of these things are legal. because personal responsibility.

I understand that weed has medical benefits. but I'm also honest:

I smoke weed because i WANT to. I'm an adult, and i don't need the government telling me what I can and can't do with myself.

Funny thing is, nothing has really changed here in a Colorado. I don't smoke or drink, but it was a good move by the state to allow people to smoke weed.

But weed is bad for your lungs.

Second hand smoke is bad for the rest of us.

You get lung problems and it increases our health care costs.

If you wanted the good health aspects of weed, you could just take a pill made from all the good stuff but lacking the high.

I seriously hate that you guys can't smoke in bars anymore. I don't smoke cigarettes, but i use to keep a lighter in my pocket and help those ladies out, easy conversation starter and ice breaker.

Bar's should be able to set their own rules on smoking in their establishment or not. you can't get in unless you're 18 anyway.

You're referring to Marinol, and it most certainly does not lack the high.

I am sure they said no high. I will search.

Marijuana in pill form would merely be pharmaceutical THC. THC is the active ingredient. THC is what makes you high.

If THC isn't present, it's not marijuana in pill form. It's a totally different drug. Perhaps altering similar receptors, but a different drug nonetheless.

Without THC, you're merely smoking a literal weed.

I'm a hospice nurse. I've helped my patients using both Marinol (the synthetic THC pill) and medical marijuana. Marinol doesn't work even remotely as well as smoking it. It just doesn't. Now the edibles that they sell in the dispensaries work. But again it's not the pharmaceutical. It's the real deal in concentrated form made into candies. Sorry but this is one more place that the man made synthetic crap just can't beat God out in bringing us comfort. Imagine that. God provides. Better stop him in the name of Jesus...
