They do have a qb.

I am not a huge Ryan fan because I think there is something missing w/him. However, when compared to the mess in Cleveland, you are right------the Falcons are in a far superior spot than the Browns.

You are what your record says you are.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

...particularly in regard to which division they are placed in. Therefore a comparison of the Falcons vs Browns W/L record is an apples and oranges comparison. More applicable will be comparing the 2015 vs 2014 records of the two teams...

Seems like LaCanfora has a legit bias against the Browns for some reason:

Quote:
Readers of this site know that I wasn't a fan of the negatively-slanted tone in Jason La Canfora's piece about the Cleveland Browns two weeks ago. That's not going to stop me from reading his work, and when I saw his most recent article about the top offseason need for all 32 teams in the league, I was curious as to what the league perception was about a big move Cleveland should make.

The article started off informative with some level-headed opinions. For example, he said the Arizona Cardinals need to find a way to lower Larry Fitzgerald's $23.6M cap number, the Atlanta Falcons need to find a way to accrue more draft picks, the Baltimore Ravens need to determine if DL Haloti Ngata is worth a $16M cap charge still, the Buffalo Bills need to let Jerry Hughes test the market so they can prioritize a new deal for Marcell Dareus, and so forth. Everything was roster-related and gave something legitimate to ponder. Then, it came time for La Canfora to talk about the Browns:

Cleveland Browns: The cynic in me would say make sure everyone in the front office has his story straight when it comes to the illegal game-day electronic investigation, and figure out the fall guy, but then again they probably already beat me to the punch. So, just for the heck of it, I'll go with scheduling a meeting with Brian Hoyer's agent on the off chance the franchise has interest in any sort of veteran presence on the roster at quarterback next season.

So he gives a decent opinion about top offseason moves that 31 teams can make, but for Cleveland, he finds a need to harp on the texting situation and front office again before saying, "just for the heck of it, I'll say maybe they can try to schedule a meeting with Hoyer's agent," something that already happened this offseason.

Once again, it's all about the presentation and tone, and La Canfora's stacking the case against himself more and more with each passing day, showing that his original scathing report had a personal agenda by the writer that indeed made things in Berea seem worse than they actually are.

Does anyone know of negative stories about the Browns written by Canfora before 2012?

Maybe it is just me, but it does appear there is a beginning point, when the negative articles by Canfora started to show up.

Well, isn't this interesting:
Quote:
4. "As a former member of the organization puts it: "Kyle bitches about everything, and then his father has to fix it. He bitches about the food in the cafeteria. He bitches about the field. He bitches about the equipment. He complains and then Mike takes care of it. Kyle is a big problem there. He is not well liked."

5. "Several members of the organization said Kyle Shanahan was a cause of internal strife, surrounding himself with young coaches with inferior experience, and allowing for no checks and balances of outside voices in the offensive coaching rooms."

Looks like Kyle isn't the "end all be all" that some profess him to be. What's really funny, I bet LaConfora doesn't even remember that article from last year.

My opinion is this, LaConfora is attempting to beat the hell out of the Browns. His reasons can be as simple as, it's a better story to tear down the Browns than it is to build them up. Or, it could be as some have indicated, he's upset that the Browns fired Banner and Lombardi.

I don't know which reason is true, but in either case, it's pretty clear he's got an agenda that doesn't include honest reporting.

Are you saying LaCanfora is to blame for the Browns problems?

Are you saying LaCanfora is to blame for Flying J's legal matters?

Are you saying LaCanfora told Farmer to text to the sidelines?

Are you saying LaCanfora told Johnny Manziel to tell Dowell Loggains to tell Jimmy Haslem to draft him?

Are you saying LaCanfora started the Holocaust?

Is that what you're saying?....You guys suck!

Hates us, agreed. This is the easy article, the hater, the one you want. Any negative Browns sells. It is self-indulgent for him to bask in his bashing. This type feels they are taller and have accomplished something admirable in reducing and belittling other people, groups, organizations. This is vilification, beyond negative opinions.
We have stuff that can be criticized. This is beyond that.
I want to add that it is lazy writing, cut and pasteitis. Writers bloat an article by using the older, often negative, "fact" from other stories. So we "inherit" the tone of the previous taint. Writers make better time and cover less ground and are able to displace and ignore entire good stories completely when not shackled by objectivity and fairness.
This is the source and secret of LaCanfora's journalism.

And then there's textgate.. That was truly dumb by Farmer.

Things are far from perfect.
