Rational post and you are right..........."deceit" was a poor choice on my part.
With that said, I think Haslam is slimy as hell. LOL

Marketing seems to be the focus of this owner. He really enjoys lining his pockets, even though he cannot bring quality to this organization. Haslam isn't stupid. He may have made some mistakes as an owner in his first couple years but I don't think any of them are because he wants to lose but make a bunch of money. He knows that the single biggest way to generate revenue is to win, be in the playoffs, generate more interest, grow the fan base, sell more jerseys, sell more beer, etc. So I think it's perfectly reasonable to question his decisions but I don't think it's because he's not committed to trying to win. Perhaps Mr. Haslam needs a course in Winning 101. Or it's just not as important as he leads us to believe. Again a team that's as void of some above average talent as the Browns are and yet they are NOT gonna be big players in free agency? Really? What the hell are they waiting for? Oh that's right they are waiting for the time when they actually draft players that are worth signing to big contracts! pfffff lol I guess that's more money in criminal Haslam's pocket.
Congratulations to our 2016 NBA Champion CLEVELAND CAVALIERS!!! Greatest comeback in sports history... Hail to the King!

So Cleveland is the only place that has loyal browns fans? I think they should have training camp here in L.A. There are plenty of colleges where they could have camp and there is an untapped fan base of over 10 million people.

I think it's a good idea to move it... Mainly looking at getting the team away from cleveland where they can just focus on football... I say we move it to north Canada and let them train like rocky in rocky 4...

The thing I'm worried about is that learning curve. IMO winning in the NFL is all about the top to bottom management. Our question is really how long is it going to take haslam to figure out how to be an effective owner. I'm 56 I don't see a SB in my lifetime. Shortens my lifetime just to think about it.

My friend and I were talking about the rise in ticket prices and how Haslam said he wouldn't raise prices until they improved the product.
He goes, "Um, throwing in some more escalators and some new scoreboards, half funded by the tax payer, isn't improving the product."
My response was, "I'd climb a ladder to the upper deck if it meant the Browns won the superbowl."

After what I've seen for the past 16 seasons, I'm up for ANYTHING that might have an effect to change the culture with this team.
Anything. New uniforms, new TC, I don't care. Just something different.

Cleveland Browns interested in Columbus for training camp Posted: 02/13/2015, 12:03pm | Zach Gase, Digital Editor at Sun Times Network
The Cleveland Browns’ training camp will remain in Berea for at least one more year. Browns owner Jimmy Haslam said this week that he is interested in moving the three-week training camp to central Ohio.
More from Cleveland.com:
“It’s well known and reported that we have been talking to Columbus about potentially moving down there in a couple years, but nothing has been finalized,” Haslam said. “Training camp will be here in Berea (this year). Might we have a family day like we did in Akron last year, which was hugely successful, somewhere else? Maybe. That’s not been finalized yet.”
The Browns have been strengthening ties with Columbus, the nation’s 15th largest city, since Alec Scheiner was named team president in December 2012. Haslam has had business dealings with Alex Fischer, president and CEO of the Columbus Partnership.
…
“The logistics of all that are substantial,” the owner said. “It takes a while to plan and get everything in place. The No. 1 thing we want to make sure we do is provide for the welfare and safety of our players and give them a great place not just to practice but to train.”
If the Browns do end up moving their training camp to Columbus, they would likely train on the Columbus Crew’s facilities. The Browns have trained in Berea – a nearby suburb of Cleveland – since 1992.
It has been a drama-filled offseason so far for the Cleveland Browns. Quarterback Johnny Manziel has checked himself into a rehabilitation facility; star wide receiver Josh Gordon has been suspended for at least one year for testing positive for alcohol in a drug test; and general manager Ray Farmer is facing a suspension for allegedly sending illegal texts during games last season.
So...........the fans [NE Ohio residents] that have supported the Browns the most over the years will now not be able see their team in TC, but a bunch of Bengal and Squeeler fans will. It's about marketing w/this guy. Manziel = marketing. Columbus = marketing. The fans of NE Ohio..........we already got your loyalty, so we don't need to do anything for you and will instead raise season ticket prices and move TC so you can't attend it anymore. You suck, Haslam! Man, I have NEVER been more wrong about a Brown's issue in my life than when I actually thought Haslam was a God send for the Browns. I can admit when I am wrong. I was dead wrong. The guy is a crook, deceitful, and a piece of crap! You do know us loyal Columbus, Cincy, ect Browns fans drive 2+ hours just to come to the games and watch the browns get embarrassed and then drive another 2+ hours home frustrated, angry, and suicidal?

On the plus side. Maybe we'll get better and non bias scouting reports from posters in Columbus on players during training camp.

You can laugh at me w/under the pretense of superiority, I know that you think anybody with an opinion different from yours is acting under the pretense of superiority... but here goes anyway. --he is under federal investigation. Yep. Though I don't think they are focused on him any more. --he raised ticket prices by a substantial amount. First time in 7 years season ticket prices have gone up... Across the NFL average ticket prices have gone up 17% over the last 4 or 5 years yet the Browns didn't move theirs... --he has said his team won't be major players in free agency. [Hmmmmm.........raise ticket prices but don't spend money on making the team better?????] Don't care what he said. In fact I'm more concerned that he said anything. Let Farmer decide if we need to be active or not. We are 3rd in the NFL in cap space. I think this is just a smokescreen. Will wait and see. --has lied to the public about the continuity issue. I guess. I didn't see Chud getting us where we wanted to go and I like Pettine better as a HC... if Pettine is still here in a few years, can we let this one go? --has Textgate on his hands. Which had nothing to do with him.. but I'm curious, if he fired Farmer or Pettine over it, wouldn't that show a lack of continuity? --had a coach beg to get out of Cleveland for a lateral move. The same coach that was involved in problems in Washington. --said he would not tolerate any more poor behavior from his players, yet has not followed up on his Word. Kind of torn on this one between when to help and when to cut bait... --has a team president watching film along w/the GM and the coaching staff. Everybody has already admitted he just sits in to learn more about football, not to offer opinions or sway decisions or influence plans. Guy just wants to learn more Xs and Os.. I'd probably do the same thing if I was the President. --has a team that has posted back-to-back losing seasons. You could look at it that way.. or he just gave us our most successful season in 7 years before it was derailed with injuries.. either way. --apparently interfered w/the draft and chose a guy who would help marketing. Apparently he might have interfered. But I've not read anything from anybody that says he did it to improve marketing... If you have something other than opinion and conjecture that says drafting Manziel was a marketing move, please let me know. There are some things to not like about Haslam, I haven't agreed with all of his decisions.. but some of your stuff is embellished to fit your point. The guy wants to win, the guy wants to make money. I hope he figures it out.

I don't think your replies were in a superior tone.
We disagree on some things. Big deal. I'm good w/debate. I am not so good when people say my opinions are stupid or they laugh at me when they don't even understand what it is I'm saying.
Heck, GM and some others echoed my statements, but guys like cfrs, Memphis, and Daman [who all ripped me] did not even debate them.

To be fair, I can understand getting your feathers ruffled over this with it being on the heels of the ticket price hike. I believe he said it wouldn't happen, but it did.
On its own it's not a bid deal, and will probably be a plus for the team and (future) fans.
Although, lets face it that winning attracts fans. Plain and simple.
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

Come on, man! Generally, I disagree with you quite a bit. Mostly I voice that disagreement as simply as I can. But then I get ripped by you then I rip you then you rip me and the result is, one or both of us get booted for a period of time. It's my opinion (FWIW) that you just don't like it when people disagree with you. Man, that's gotta be tough to live life that way.

J/C When I lived a little further north, Cleveland was about a 2 hour 15 minute drive. I've been to a few games, but I can't see spending $35 a ticket for two kids that don't understand football. Working in restaurants, I was never afforded an opportunity to go to TC.
If they moved it to Columbus, I live only 1.5 hours away. Plus, I have friends from college that still live in the area. I would definitely try to take the kids to a TC session. A three hour round trip and free tickets are a little more affordable than ~$200 for tickets, plus parking, plus gas, plus concessions.
I see where you're coming from on this Vers. We all still suffer from Battered Browns Syndrome. It's natural to maintain a certain level of skepticism when it comes to this franchise.
But sometimes, change is good.
Hopefully, it will be a sign of positive things to come?

Well wait a moment, The Browns have a very loyal fan base in Cincinnati and Columbus and essentially throughout central and southern Ohio. Are they not worth as much as those in NE Ohio?
