begins to fall in the draft because of off the field issues, (1) would the Browns take him at #12, and (2) would you want the Browns to take him?

Yes I would want them to take him. I don't see any way possible that this would happen, but yes.
He is not JFF. There are far less questions about his transition to the NFL.
IMO you have to compare risk with reward. While in this instance there are some risks, the reward factor I see as much higher.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

yes absolutely. I understand we spent a 1st rounder on a QB last year, but you know what? screw it. besides, it seems like us drafting QB's at #22 is a freaking curse. Wasn't Weeden AND Quinn drafted at the number?
we get a QB most likely ready to start out the gate, depending on if we bring back Hoyer or not, he has all the physical tools of guys like Big Ben, plus he is mobile.

I would not draft him in the 7th. He would not be on my draft board at all. His teammates dont like him. He has no respect for anyone. He does whatever he feels like doing and whether that is stealing seafood, pop or brutally raping a girl, he does it.

No.
I'm worried about what happens when some team hands this kid a check for millions of dollars.
I want no part of Winston for the character issues alone. Alleged rape, alleged point shaving, stealing crab legs and shouting an absurd comment in the student union. No thanks.
The Browns cannot afford to take the risk after the Manziel debacle. Winston needs to go to a stable franchise with a sound culture in place that can keep him in check.

I don't care how talented that kid is, he has no moral compass. The world has let him get away with crimes because of his talent, and it will only get worse in the pros.

The Browns cannot afford to take the risk after the Manziel debacle. How many more years can we afford to play with below average QB play?

I would say that we have to take the risk because of the Manziel debacle.

I would collect as much information as I possibly could on the guy and if I was comfortable with the information I would draft him. If I was not then I trade the pick for a #1 next year.

Take him because the Browns organization has a great track record of nurturing those that have lost their waySeriously, we should have nothing to do with this guy, much like we should have had nothing to do with Johnny Rehab or Josh BongHit..... We don't need super high character guys. We just need guys that can stay out of enough trouble to stay on the field.... Thus far, we have had horrible luck with reaches and projects!

I'd absolutely take him. regardless if some view what he said as cocky, i want a guy with ice in his veins. And he's gonna throw tomorrow. unlike all these QB's suddenly wanting to only throw on their pro days. just like Bortles did. Compete.

Yeah I saw that interview and I hope they double test him for drugs because he was definitely high on something. He was light sensitive and disconnected. There is just something very wrong with him so I hope we don't draft him at all. I would probably draft Petty over him just from the sheer risk factor of keeping him unsuspended.

If, for some reason Winston falls to 12, take a trade from whoever is willing to take that risk. Could easily leave us with 2-1st and 2-2nd round picks, or another 1st for next year.

If Winston falls to twelve the risk of him being an idiot (off the field) are negated by his drop in the draft.

IF he fell to twelve then I think I might take him but I want no part of him if we had to move up to get him. If Danny Shelton the DT is sitting there at 12 I'd rather have him than anyone to be honest. Danny will be the next beast of the DL to be taken since Suh.

I get the feeling that there is something seriously wrong w/Winston. I get the feeling that he is the type to smile in your face and then plunge a knife in your back. He comes across as psychotic.
Yes, we made a mistake by drafting Manziel, but compounding the problem by drafting another character risk guy is ignorant.
The Browns already have too many guys who have character issues. This would not be a good place for him and he would not be a good fit to help remedy the character concerns that the Browns have.

the stuff about his teammates couldnt stand to be around him is enough for me not to take the guy. The other stuff just solidifies it.

I don't think the Browns dare take Winston after their draft last year. but I think he has the most ability. To bad he's such an idiot. Cordele Jones has some issues also. Nothing off the field that I have heard about but some stupid texts.

If he starts to drop like that, those off the field issues would have to be pretty serious, and in that case, No, I would not touch him. Man, I liked this kid in his 1st season, and knew he'd be a top pick. I didn't expect all of the off field accusations though.

seems so. everybody was up in arms about Crow's gun charges. haven't heard a peep out of him yet. sometimes guys need to have a change of Scenery. Winston's success in College is undeniable. his talent and intelligence as a QB is undeniable. stuff like stealing and such can be fixed. the alleged rape charge happens a lot with females. last time i checked it was innocent until proven guilty in this country. he stole some crab legs. There's posters on this board who have DUI's. i wonder which one is worse. I'm not saying move up and draft the guy, but if he falls to us at 12, there's no way I pass him up. We need a big QB in the AFC North. guys that can take hits and keep it moving. look at Flacco and Big Ben. Winston would be perfect for that type of game. This guy wants to reach the skies, and isn't afraid to say it in public. I'm tired of the company line crap. This is football, not a JV cheerleading competition.

Again, this sounds like the same thing that was said about Manziel last year pre-draft amid all the giant red flags waving in front of our collective faces. The "This is football, not a JV cheerleading competition" might work for other less regarded positions, i.e., LB, DL but, not the QB. The QB is the face of the franchise and needs to be the leader of the team, not like some dimwit that sounds like a drunken frat kid. Maybe I'm completely off base. However, here's an opinion from Rodney Harrison...

This is football, not a JV cheerleading competition. 1) Crowell's gun charges were for possession of, not the use of. He was disqualified for play in the SEC and banished to the netherlands. He responded by spending the next 2-3 years with his nose to the grindstone and never got into trouble again. 2) Winston has shown a pattern of criminality, not demonstrating he has made a mistake or two from which he has learned his lesson, but that his whole life he has gotten away with bad behavior because he can be heroic on the gridiron. 3) Pro athletes, especially team leaders, are viewed as heroes by our children. I don't need them to be choirboys, but I surely don't want my kids' heroes to be criminals who's behavior we tolerate because they win football games.

Winston flat out creeps me out. My gut instinct says to get away from him. I certainly would not leave my 8 year old daughter alone in the room with him that is for sure. That's not the kind of guy I want as the face of our franchise and the hope of our future.
My gut feelings are seldom wrong either so I trust them.

Lets face the facts. For him to drop to us at 12. There has to be Mega serious charges involved. You know like Ray Lewis.

He may actually drop if reports about weakness in his throwing shoulder are true.Jameis Winston's shoulder testedFebruary 20, 2015 By Chris Mortensen | ESPN Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston has undergone specific testing to determine why he is showing weakness in his throwing shoulder that was discovered during the NFL combine medical exams, according to team and league sources. Sources said Winston underwent electromyography to study a weakness in his shoulder that often can be caused by a nerve problem and can be treated through therapy, if necessary. No other specifics were provided by the sources. Winston spoke to the media Friday afternoon and said his shoulder is healthy and he plans to throw Saturday. "I got the same shoulder I done had the last two years at Florida State," Winston said when asked whether he was experiencing any discomfort. Winston's planned media session Thursday was postponed for medical testing at a nearby hospital, according to a source. "I had an MRI [on Thursday], just like everyone else," Winston said. "I've been playing football for, since I was 4 years old, and my shoulder has been fine." It is not unusual for players to have medical concerns re-examined with expansive testing at the combine. Winston not only has played quarterback at Florida State but also was a vital member of the Seminoles' baseball team, primarily as a relief pitcher, and that may have contributed to the extra attention to Winston's shoulder. "I'm a quarterback, this is actually the first time I've ever just had an offseason just to work on being a quarterback, I've been playing baseball, I was a pitcher, that might be why the shoulder thing, but this is my first time having an offseason," Winston said. "And I love it." Winston and Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota are considered the top candidates to be selected No. 1 overall in this year's draft. *Information from ESPN.com's Jeff Legwold contributed to this report. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/123541...akness-shoulder

Crow was the guy I said to take on the Sleeper thread in last year's Draft Forum. I pimped him after that. So, what do you mean by everyone? Secondly, I see Winston and Crow as two different players. One was a FA. The other would be a first round pick. One plays RB. The other QB. No comparison. Finally, a JV Cheerleading squad? We have been picking guys who had questionable character traits quite frequently. Manziel, Taylor, Gordon, West, Ward, Leon, K2, Green, etc. What exactly have we won w/those guys?
