1. I dont think we will be looking for a "#1" WR per say..

2. I dont, and will never understand this idea that we NEED any, especially TWO OL.. If not for a freak injury, the line is Top 5 in the league..

You want to sign a Vet FA to sit the bench, fine.. drafting one in the 2nd or 1st round? Waste.

Injuries happen and we have little/no depth. There is nothing "freak" about losing a player, it happens every year. It is probably more of a freak occurrence that we only lost 1. We went from running the ball and competing to not running the ball and sucking with one injury. You can't be that thin and expect to win, especially on a unit as important as the OL. Do we need two? I don't know but a good vet in FA and a draft pick (top 4 rounds) would be nice.

I believe your point, and the way to address it make perfect sense. As for those who claim it was a "freak injury" need only look at the DL injuries to see that there's nothing "freak" about it.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

We lost Mack last year during the season.. and Pinkston retired during training camp... At the start of camp last year we had depth in the line, and ended up with problems.

We should probably get 2 OL, one for general depth (replacing McQuistan ) and one for competition ( the backup Center/Guard ). That is not replacing any of the starters.

You're not going replace a Pro Bowl Center.

If you compared our line even after Mack went down it was probably still better than over half the league..

The difference is, certain places, that have terrible OL.. Have great QBs..

DL Ricky Jean-Francois, of Indy, and Wr Ted Ginn of ? were both released today.

Hmm, I'd take both at first glance. Don't know how tall Ginn is, but doesn't he return kicks? Don't the Browns need a kick returner.

Oh well, I logged on to see if anyone had any logo predictions.

The story I clicked on half a week ago had " Browns " in orange block letters, so maybe it's going to be " Browns" in orange block letters.

Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

A couple of comments:

--Skrine was penalized a lot. 11 times.

--Haden had 9 penalties. That is a difference of two. Anyone calling him out?

--Here is a quote from Skrine's DC:

Quote:
“He’s one of my favorite guys on the defense,” defensive coordinator Jim O’Neil said. “He embodies ‘Play Like a Brown.’ I don’t ever want to let good players walk out the door."

--The Brown's pass rush vanished in the second half of the season. Corners and safeties were forced to cover for a much longer period of time. People might want to consider that.

--Losing Skrine would be a big loss. It bumps the entire rotation [minus Haden] up. That would not be a good thing. Pay the kid.

While I would like to keep Skrine, however he seems set to test FA (once players hit FA they rarely come back) Skrine was the 4th highest penalized player in the entire league last year, Haden was 19th...no other Brown finished in top 50...Both had some very rough patches last year, both also looked very well last year...my favorite thing with Skrine is he plays much larger than his frame suggests he probably players bigger and more scrappy than most 6'0 200lb corners...

Heck seems like a lot of big FA's want out of Cleveland (Hoyer, Cameron, Skrine, and Mack will leave next year)

Anyone know anything about Robertson, Gibson, Bademosi...would love to keep all 3 of them

Pernell McPhee likely to leave the Ravens in free agency

Michael David Smith

PFT

Pernell McPhee developed into a very good situational pass rusher last year, his fourth season in Baltimore. But the Ravens aren’t expecting him back for a fifth season.

McPhee, who becomes a free agent on March 10, is expecting a contract worth $8 million to $10 million a year in free agency, according to the Baltimore Sun, and that is a contract the Ravens can’t afford.

Frankly, if McPhee thinks he’s going to get anything close to $10 million a year, he probably has overestimated his worth. McPhee is a good player — No. 15 in our NFL free agent top 100 — but he’s only a part-time player who played less than half the Ravens’ defensive snaps last season. Teams generally don’t break the bank for players who spend more time on the sideline than on the field.

The flip side is, McPhee is right at his prime at 26 years old and is coming off a season in which he had 7.5 sacks. Even if McPhee isn’t going to make quite as much as he thinks, he’s probably going to get a better offer elsewhere than the Ravens can afford to match.

I'm interested in this guy. That doesn't mean I want us to go all out for him but he would fit in many ways. Don't think Sheard is coming back. Question marks abound with Mingo. This could be a nice signing to play opposite Kruger IF they are not sold on Mingo starting in 2015. Also, it wouldn't necessarily make a pass rusher at the top of the draft need list.

Plus it's more insight to a division rival's defensive scheme.

I don't know him enough to say one way or the other, but his situation is very much like Kruger's situation with the Rats when we signed him. Part-time player with a big upside. We'll look at him I'm sure.

I was thinking the exact same thing. My bet is that he doesn't get paid as much as Kruger because there are more pass rushers available this off-season.

Pernell McPhee would be a very good signing in my opinion. I saw some highlights of him last season and he's a 3-4 versatile player that can help pretty much anywhere. I don't mind the idea of Adrian Clayborne if we can get him a modestly priced contract. Might help us out in the pass rushing department in the nickle when we run a 4-man front.

McCown is in town for a visit the next two days per Jeremy Fowler.

We do need to find that pass rush. Kruger was most of it. FA help in that area would erase some question marks. Depth is also clutter in a depth chart. Team can get situational to the point they get in their own way. We need a Watt equivalent or two. Injuries get more complicated with specialists out.

I don't know if he's better than Hoyer or even if that matters, but I don't blame them for bringing in a guy like him.

McCown is probably last among the free agent QBs I would want. I would hope we would also bring in another veteran QB to compete with him.

Off the top of my head, here is the order of interest I would have in the free agent QBs:

1. Sanchez
2. Locker
3. Hoyer
4. Mallett
5. Moore
6. Ponder
7. Vick
8. McCown

(None of these are good options.)

Sanchez has history with Pettine and Flip doesn't he?

No more McCowns.... Cripes, remember LUKE McCown?

No thanks.

I'd go after Mallett in a big way. He got the same pro schooling as Hoyer did in New England but a far superior arm.

I agree with you on the McCown's but NOT on Mallett, he has happy feet and throws the ball up for grabs at the first sign of pressure .... JMHO

Wait! Some of you wanna pay McPhee---a part time player- around $10 million a year, but don't want to pay Skrine around $6.5 million?

I'd give Skrine 6 mil easily.. he may have his moments that make me yell at my TV, but he knows the system, and the guys around him..

Plus he's scrappy.. I like my defenders like I like my cartoon dogs..

My hopes for FA are to see more Dansby/Whitner type signings. Just quality players with something left in the tank please, no fliers on the oft injured or head cases.

As far as what we spend, it's not my money so I don't care. BOTTOM LINE: I want to win games so I can be proud to be a fan. So just put together a winner and I'm happy, no other opinions, no whining or complaining.

If we can ink WR Cecil Shorts, OLB Akeem Ayers, TE Gresham, FB Jerome Fulton, DE Cedrick Thornton...

While resigning Gibson, Hoyer, Skrine, Robertson, and Bademosi...I'll be content
