Let him compete with Connor Shaw for that 3rd string spot in camp.

What could it hurt?

Finally, the plan is beginning to take shape. We've got 4 QBs: each with different atttributes, none of which has the complete package.

The Browns new QB coach clearly must be an expert in gene-splicing and will actually combine all four QBs to make one decent starter.

Let's all get behind Johnnor McLewis.

You mean Haslam's draft pick.

I like it. He is much better than Shaw for our 3rd QB and since our 3rd string QB plays at least one game every year it was a much needed upgrade.

Oh, I agree. He has been undervalued, so it's a nice depth move. I honestly think that he can easily match McCown's on the field production. Apparently the difference between a multi million deal and minimum one year deal is being a good locker room guy. I still fail to see a plan. Could this mean Manziel is damaged goods and can't be trusted to contribute? Sure looks like a safety net move, especially this early in FA, which is disturbing. Why would any team be preoccupied to get a strong, solid 3rd QB, which Lewis is? Makes you go hmmmmm....

At this point, there are (obviously) no guarantees with Manziel. It's a situation that the team, I'm sure, is closely monitoring. Lewis: there are worse 3rd string QB's out there...

Who knows maybe they plan to put Manziel on the IR PUP list to deal with his rehab long term this season. Then thad would be our #2 QB. Thad has a weak arm but he is very good at reading defenses.

not necessarily although that may indeed be the case. We can put shaw back on the practice squad again and keep Thad as the 3rd on the roster.

Well, say what you and this is just my opinion - but, I'll take Thad over Manziel and Shaw any day or time of the week.

Having to make this type of signing is more evidence to pile on the failures and disappointments that is Johnny Football. It's a good security blanket and again, JMO, but this confirms what I thought before, it's make or break time for JF and it's grow up or get out.

Not a bad #3 - He was in Buffalo when Pettine was there. And our Offense Consultant or something like that - helping with the play book. Was Lewis' coach with Duke.

Actually he was maybe the best QB here with Shurmer...Funny thing I cannot remember who the QB was here? oh Colt

One year maybe camp fodder also another teacher for Manziel. jmho

This is a pure panic signing when they realized Steve McNair wouldn't be returning their phone calls.

I didn't realize that the beginning of Free Agency would mean BAD news.

J/C ...... I actually like Lewis is this offense. He has some small degree of mobility, and he is fairly accurate on the short to medium routes.

He has played for 2 pretty bad offensive teams in the 2012 Cleveland Browns and the 2013 Buffalo Bills, and has completed 60% of his passes for 5 TD and 4 INT in 6 career starts.

I think that he could do well in a controlled, run heavy offense. I really liked his potential when he was here before.

I don't think this is "bad" necessarily..

Hey at least if he has to start.. it's not another name added to that jersey...

It's all coming together now fellas. Time to kick back in the leather recliner, light the cigar, pour a glass of the 15 year old single malt you've been saving and breathe in the smell of victory.

Thaddy Lew has returned!

Yeah.. Why do all these teams keep signing QBs that aren't good?

Oh.. Because there aren't any good ones available..

Right.

You guys remind me when Banner and Lombardi brought in Campbell and Hoyer, I was LIVID!

Everything the Browns have done or haven't done to this point solidifies my opinion that we're moving up to get Mariota. We can't possibly go into the season with this crap again.
