I don't know, to me the one year deal with Thad was a given the staff isn't looking to burn a high round on the so-called "Qb talent" this draft has to offer. Especially at the costs to move up high enough to get a chance at Mariota. JMO, I think they're content with the list of avg qb's and the "potential" slim hope that JF can a. Get his act together and b. Be able to become something other than someone who looks lost, confused and totally out of their element come game days.

Dawg_LB, if we are putting all of our eggs in one basket and that basket is the Manziel basket we are in deep, deep trouble. I keep thinking the same as daytnabacker we have to be moving up to get Mariota given our QB coach worked with him before the combine and their relationship, etc. but as the old saying goes if you have 2 QBs you don't have 1 and well we now have 4... smile

#Browns GM Farmer and Pettine not attending Marcus Mariota's Pro Day today, but #Browns are represented (likely QB coach O'Connell).

Haslam said he has to solve the QB position. None of these moves do that. If they do not go after Marcus then take a page out of Pilot Flying J manual and send somebody over to Glenwood and talk to Cardales parents. Tell them if he drops out of OSU, we'll sign him!

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I am kinda hopeful one of Braxton Miller, JT Barrett, or Cardale Stewart will enter the Supplemental Draft. Myer should have the roster depth order set early enough for any one of them to decide to come out and go into the S draft. That would be pretty interesting to see what happens there.

Hears to hoping Dorsey is the Browns Ozzie Newsome.

Very good thinking. I would imagine the biggest anticipation in the country will be who Meyer names as OSU's qb starter.

Doesn't a player have to have some sort of hardship reasoning for entering the supplemental draft? Can Miller even play QB in the NFL? Barrett can't even leave until after the season as he isn't three years out of high school yet.

Whos Cardale Stewart?

Is that Tony's kid?

I dont get the animosity towards Thad. He is not a terrible back up. I even suspect if he ever got a full offseason to get reps as at least a #2 QB that he would play as well or better than Hoyer did last season. If they give all the QB's a fair chance to win the job I would not even be that surprised to see him win the starting job.

I don't see any reason for him to. Cardale is not ready to be an NFL QB.

Lackluster signings when we finally got the closest to a very good season 7-9...As the days grow I'm losing faith in this regime... We have more than ample holes to fill and more than ample cap room...But bringing in pedestrian players work best.....but hey its beautiful out and I just took my Challenger out of storage...I'm hoping we finally start signing some talent asap, really irked and I'm not normally this way.

Thad Lewis might very well be the Browns best QB..I would not sell him short, given the competion he is up against..McCown, Manziel, Shaw.

Franchises that win at this time of year are trying to upgrade their team with difference makers.
Then you have the Browns who putting their attention toward bring back a career backup.

Two camp arms? At this rate we may have about 7 QB's by camp time. Welcome back, TL.

I got a feeling were waiting on the draft. I think Ray's gonna go after Mariotta. Hope not...but

I promise that I am not ragging on you, but what gives you that idea?

Signing two qbs and keeping two others makes me think they are rolling w/these guys.

What makes you think that we are going after Mariotta when we just signed McCown and Lewis?

Seriously, that doesn't seem to add for me.

It doesn't. As I have said several times, Manziel is still the future QB of this team.

As for Lewis, I like the signing. I don't see the downside in having a 3rd string QB who has had starting experience.

Not you Vers....I just don't get some people. They moan about this signing like we were supposed to have signed Drew Brees as our 3rd stringer.

Look peen, I don't mind Lewis as a qb. It's just that I don't think that Farmer and company get qbs.

We could have had Teddy. We passed on him for Manziel. The guy is in rehab. Still!

We sign a McCown, who is not very good. We let Hoyer go, who immediately signs w/a better team. We sign Lewis.

Rolling w/JM, McCown, and Lewis does not excite me at all. In fact, it is beyond depressing.

I am not asking you to agree w/me and I am not trying to start a fight w/you, but man, in my mind.........it's depressing.

That's cool Vers. You are my buddy. It will take a good deal for you to chap my ass to the point I don't condider it such. The pointed part of my comment wasn't really directed at you.

I don't know if these guys get QB's or not. Even if not, it doesn't take much thought to know the team is still hitched to the Johnny Football wagon. They have to be. It's way too early to jump off that wagon. That's my only point.

People are expecting some big change at QB when we really don't know what we have at this point.

People just need to chill and see what happens. This isn't at the point of 2.5 years of Tim Couch. It's 1.5 games of Johnny Manziel.

That's cool, peen.

I agree that JM deserves another chance. He was a high pick and he could electrify the Brown's nation.

On the other hand, counting on him seems somewhat foolish considering the circumstances. I was just hoping for a better back-up plan than McCown.

Fair enough?

If all 4 of our Qb's are given a fair and even chance, it wouldn't surprise me to see Thad win the starting job. It would however surprise me to see all a fair and even battle for Qb.

I don't know what other option we really had. I expressed a point in another thread that it probably wasn't going to work with Hoyer and Manziel. Hoyer is at a point he wants a shot and probably knows that no matter what, Manziel will be the favored child in Cleveland for another year or so. I just don't think it was going to work.

McCowan seems to be able at this point of his career to take on the starting duty(he wants that for sure) but be able to round out his career as the back-up. You played sports. Good back-ups are guys who are willing to be good back-ups. That doesn't mean they don't want to start. They are just at the point where reality hits. Players in middle age so to speak want their shot at the ring. Hoyer wants that. I get it. I hope he does and makes the most of it.

We can talk about Bridgewater or any other QB, but that is non productive from my seat. It didn't happen.....I guess what I am saying is I don't see rehashing past drafts. It would be hard to have a bad draft if you could do it over a year or two later. If so, then no doubt, you have a boob at the helm.

You just answered your own question Vers. I will be beyond depressed if this is what we go into the season with.

Only a fool would hitch their wagon to Manziel. Mariota is the only hope left unless Tampa wants to deal (Damn I want Winston).

Anybody of sound mind knows we have JUNK at QB. I think Farmer is using these moves as an illusion we're not going after Marcus so we won't have to move up to the 2nd spot. Hell, with the Rams getting Foles, Mariota might fall to 12 (I highly doubt that) but he should be there for a move up to 4th or 5th spot.

Haslam is a LIAR to me but I'm hanging my hat on his words of fixing the QB position

Of course, I could be dead wrong.
