The start of the game was about as beautiful as could possibly be. The Cavaliers got to every loose ball, and grabbed almost every board for the 1st 10 minutes of the game, or so.
I think that this team is really well positioned as the playoffs begin. I am really excited about our prospects.

Wow, night and day difference with JR, just looking at those stats in the vid.
nevermind real time, where he just looks world's better here than in NY.
so glad we got that dude.

I admit that I had a hard time figuring out why we would want him when the trade was made, and it seemed to me that he was the "cap room throw in" designed to eliminate salary for the Knicks. It seemed like Shumpert was the real target. (and I still believe that last part is true) However, JR has fit in so well with this group of players, and has settled into the role they need him to play so well that it is just incredible.
Man, we gave up Dion Waiters, (who I liked, but who I admit was an awful fit for this team) Lou Amundson, Alex Kirk, a 2nd round pick, and a heavily protected Grizzlies 1st round pick that is unlikely to ever become much, and got back Smith, Shumpert, and Mozgov.
That is outright robbery.

Yep. It really boils down to him fitting the role that we needed. Dion Waiters was the exact opposite. He wanted to have the ball in his hands and create plays himself. JR is happy to sit back, let the other guys create and then hit him with a wide-open look. Which in turn, opens up lanes for the other guys to drive to the hoop. Just a great trade.
I also think that one stat in the video about ISO is a bit mis-leading. I think the majority of the time that JR is doing ISO, is when he's in there without the other starters and he's being asked to create offense. He goes back a little bit to "New York" JR in those situations. But like the video alluded, I think those situations will be pretty rare when we get into the playoffs.
JR is just a good fit. He knows exactly what his role is. Dion got caught between trying to be the guy that JR is, and being a guy who can drive/create. At this point, he's just not.
JR will take some heroic dumb shots, but outside of that, he moves the ball, and gets back on defense. That's pretty much all you really need out of the 2 guard on this team.
Cleveland backed into the playoffs with a scrub win against the Wizards tonight. Delly somehow put up an 18-12 and went 4 for 5 from downtown.
On to the real season now. I hope we put a real beatdown on the Celtic, if only for the sole reason of seeing Bill Simmons cry about. I have nothing against the Celtics though. As a team, they really came together after the front office blew things up. and earned themselves the 7th seed. Brad Stevens seems like a good coach for them.
Also pretty happy to see Miami miss the playoffs. We should be hearing non-stop national media stories about how terrible Miami's supporting cast was for Lebron now, right? I mean he carried them to the Finals and then they couldn't even get to the Playoffs the next year.
Also have to say kudos to the Pelicans for getting in! Beat the Spurs with something to play for and edged out the Thunder. No small feat there. I'm hoping Indiana can come back against Memphis, but it's not looking good so far. They would be a much stiffer test for Atlanta than Brooklyn.
J/C I'm new to this topic. I don't have a favorite NBA team, but I will be rooting for the Cavs. What teams are you most worried about in front of the Cavs as the playoffs start? Atlanta, etc.?

I think Boston will steal one at home, but other than that we should have an easy first round with big 3 getting plenty of rest. Chicago could easily knock us out...they have better bigs than us and with rose back this could get difficult. But I rather play chicago in 2nd round than the ECF...Atlanta will be a difficult series but if we limit their shooting we should be fine. I was really hoping indiana would get in. Indiana I think with George back could have taken atlanta out..Brooklyn is a joke

This is going to be a lot different than the previous Lebron-Cavs playoff teams. The way this team can score, the way they can kill you in transition.... They're not going 4-4-4 to the finals, but in this round, I don't wanna hear from this honk Boston writers that think Boston has a chance in this series. They don't. They have none.
If you had to rank a list of best players in this series, how far down the list would you go before you mentioned a Celtic player? Depends on how you feel about Jr Smith and Moz.
1. King James 2. Kyrie 3. Love 4. JR 5. Might put Isaiah Thomas here or ahead of JR
It's just surreal and hard for my brain to process how much can change in one year. We went from the bottom of hell a few years ago to possibly winning a title THIS YEAR. Gonna enjoy every second of this ride.

Pretty much. Their team is a bunch of a role players. I understand the credit being thrown Stevens' way, but you shouldn't get that much for being 40-42 in a bad conference. They're doing the same thing with him that Chicago has done with Thibideau. Fans and media (mostly media) thinks the guy can do no wrong.
I say 4-5 games with Boston. Probably 5-6 with Chicago assuming they beat Milwaukee. Atlanta does worry me a little bit just because the only time these two teams both met up healthy and ready to go, Atlanta won. I do think if the Cavs can force Atlanta to go small, they can probably make it a little eaiser, but as it stands, Atlanta/Cleveland will be a really good series.
In case anyone hasn't seen, Vegas has the Cavs and Warriors as co-favorites to win the title at 11/5, with San Antonio just behind them at 4/1. Everyone else seems to be a bit back further.
Man, just looking at the West matchups, San Antonio/LA Clippers, has there been a better first round matchup ?
I think if the Clippers ever "do something" it's this year. If they beat the Spurs they're going to the WCF. I feel the winner of this series is better than whoever wins between Houston and Dallas. Beating San Antonio is a monsterous task.
GO CELTICS ... Now before you jump all over me let me say I have always been a Celtics fan, even though I love the city and teams of Cleveland, so if and probably when the Cavs dispose of my Celtics, I will be all in and behind the Cavs to win a title for my favorite city, the same way I would root for my Giants if we played the Indians, but the BROWNS are my team and there will never be another in the NFL that I will root for ahead of them ... So GO CELTICS for now ...
John 3:16 Jesus said "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."
The Refs have been having a pretty miserable game so far. Missed calls and bad calls for both teams.
Kyrie is looking pretty good so far. Drilled that 3 pointer before the half. Ice water flows through his veins. He's looking like he's ready to break out for 50 again if needed. Kevin Love though looks nervous. He missed a few open shots and just seems like he's playing tight. I also have to give props to TT. He really came to play today and is in there getting some key offensive boards.
Hope we can keep up the pressure second half here. I had no idea that the Celts have been as hot as we've been since the All-Star break. They might not have the superstars, but they do have a pretty deep bench.
