Difference is, Maxx could go out to dinner, drop his fork on the floor, bend over to get it and bump his head on the table without being out 6-8 weeks with a concussion.

Probably in the first round. I'd take Cameron, $7 million less in cap space, Cameron's replacement for however many games he misses, and whatever pick it costs to draft Williams over Williams.

I'd take Barnidge or Jim over Cameron. Reliable both catching, blocking and health. Jordan fits one of the three, he's just a catching TE.
If we want to get crazy, I'd take Williams in the first and not have to worry about him getting hit and retiring. I'd prefer not taking a TE in the first, but I don't think Williams will make it outta the first round.

In Browns offensive scheme, one can make a serious argument Barnidge and Dray are above average TEs. Both these guys remind me of Heath Miller. I consider an upgrade if they find a similar TE with enough speed and talent to play FB.

I have seen his name posted a few times, but I really like O'Leary from Florida State. He reminds me of a Whitten/Clark combo.
He is a bit undersized. His Combine numbers weren't very good. He isn't the prototypical physical specimen you want.
However, he is really good at splitting the seam of the defense. Although he dropped some passes, he is a hands catcher. He is very good on 3rd downs. He is very good in the clutch. He is a good route runner. He is intelligent in regards to reading coverages.
I like this guy in the 3rd or 4th. I don't think he is an every down TE, but I think he could be a specialist and a weapon, much like Dallas Clark was for years, or a guy like Todd Christenson, or a poor man's version of Shannon Sharpe.
Bottom line: While he has some flaws, I think this is a guy I could use to exploit defenses, especially on 3rd downs and in clutch situations.

If we wait until the 3rd or 4th rd. I think Huereman from t OSU would be an excellent pick .... JMHO

I'm with you on O'Leary as well. I just see so many guys that can fulfill the receiving void JC left, and thus see no reason to spend a high pick in Williams. I also really like Heuerman of OSU...he doesn't get the ball thrown to him much in that O, but he is a quality all around TE.
Actually, there are quite a few guys that I love their value in rounds 3 or 4 (not just TE). I wish I felt the same about the 1st two rounds...lol.

j/c This article I confess does support my subjective evaluation of Williams as well as my evaluation of Walford. That aside, consider it for what it's worth. This article has me thinking. It measures 5 TEs on not just the big play factor where Williams stands out, but on blocking, 2nd level blocking, first down success rate, red zone success rate, and other less obvious measurables where you would expect your TE to perform. The top overall grade goes to Walford, the second to MyCole Pruitt with Williams coming in 3rd. I wouldn't want them to make a decision based solely on this report, but it is food for thought. (Thanks Guard Dawg)

We already replaced Cameron.
Maxx Williams is a bonus addition and will actually get us a TE that we haven't had. One that will be productive in the run game as well as the passing game. But it would be a bonus player
