Report: Le’Veon Bell gets three-game banThe Steelers will begin the 2015 season without their top running back. The NFL has suspended Le’Veon Bell for three games without pay for violating its substance-abuse policy, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported. Bell has appealed the ruling, ESPN reported. The tailback has also been docked a fourth game check by the league, per Schefter. If the suspension holds, Bell can take part in preseason games and training camp before serving his ban away from the club. Bell’s suspension stems from a DUI charge last summer. He was sentenced to probation, and the charge, along with a marijuana possession count, can be removed from his record if he completes 15 months of service. His former Steelers teammate, LeGarrette Blount, has garnered a one-game suspension for the incident. Bell faced up to a four-game ban, as PFT noted last month. It’s an aspect of the substance-abuse policy that didn’t change when the policy was renegotiated in September, given that Bell’s DUI arose from marijuana use. Losing Bell for any stretch is a major blow to the Steelers’ offense. The 23-year-old running back emerged as one of the game’s star dual threats at the position in 2014, racking up more than 2,000 rushing-receiving yards. Ex-Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams figures to have a bigger role with Bell out of the Pittsburgh lineup to begin next season. PFT I assume we will play them week 4.

So we host Steelers week 4
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

Who cares, with Danny Shelton via the draft and the Browns defensive front healthy, we're to suffocate every team we play run game! Hehe

They'll probably open with the following:
Week One - Oakland Week Two - at Cincinnati Week Three - Arizona Week Four - at Cleveland

Why did it take this long to declare the suspension?
Why not announce it last year - during the season - and suspend him right then and there?
No wonder the Steelers let Blount walk...they knew uncle Rog wouldn't suspend Bell until they had a replacement (D Williams) revved up and ready to go...and then with an entire off-season to prepare.

Really guys? How long did they wait to announce how long Gordon's suspension would be?
Man, the whining that we are really being picked on and the Steelers are getting breaks is so freaking UNMANLY. It's shameful.
Man up!

If someone knows someone in the Pittsburgh area with some herb, please send them to meet Le'Veon Bell and while you are at it, anyone in Foxborough.

Man up! Every team but the Browns gets preferential treatment. Didn't you know that? The league against the Browns mentality. The poor Browns. This finely tuned organization could never have caused any of their own demise. I'm sure the league baited Farmer into thinking it was a genius idea to start textgate. Oh but wait, didn't they just receive a mere slap on this wrist for that?
Congratulations to our 2016 NBA Champion CLEVELAND CAVALIERS!!! Greatest comeback in sports history... Hail to the King!

Man up! Do you really think that taking a long time to announce the length of a suspension that was effective IMMEDIATELY is comparable to a suspension that was implemented and announced 7 months after the infraction?

IMO, they both should have been sat last season at some point. This wasn't a failed test, they were caught driving around smoking. No review was needed, They admitted to it at the time.
If people don't believe the Rooney's get preferential treatment, they are blind to reality. Homes was caught in a similar manner, and got off. Back in the seventies, they had a player fire a gun at a police helicopter and get off.
This has nothing to do with the Browns or how anybody thinks of them. This is just another example of the Rooney's reach into the NFL offices. This basically happened before the season, and they were not disiplined at all for almost a year.

Do you really think that the NFL is harder on the Browns than other teams? And you act like I am not one being ridiculous. Wasn't this Bell's first suspension? How long did it take for the NFL to announce and implement Gordon's first NFL suspension? Think about it before you go off again.

I think there is a large opinion among FANS all over the NFL that the NFL coddles of few teams. One of which is the Steelers.
My personally I don't think there is a hatred to the Browns from the NFL office they actually heard the Brown's fans and made a new team here.
I do however think there is still some negative behavior towards the Browns by some Refs...all be it subconcious even. Fact is we ran them off the field throwing bottles at them and anything we could get a hold of. Fans might have thought of it in the past but we actually did it.

As long as it's clear they were "plastic bottles".
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

That should have been purple cause I'm betting very few of those plastic bottles were empty. A half-full plastic bottle can give one a pretty good knock on the head... if the aim was true.

Do you really think that the NFL is harder on the Browns than other teams? No...and I never said they were. And you act like I am not one being ridiculous. You ARE being ridiculous. Your entire retort is based on something I never said. You ARE consistent though. Wasn't this Bell's first suspension? First or tenth...what's the point. The POINT is it took 7 months and AFTER the season to be implemented. He admitted that he got high some hours prior to being pulled over. Does anyone REALLY need to explain that to you? How long did it take for the NFL to announce and implement Gordon's first NFL suspension? Too damn long. How many games did Gordon play AFTER admitting guilt? Think about it before you go off again. Go off? I made a post about Blount's release and the "suspension to be named later". However, now I will go off so you can understand the difference. Do you realize how ridiculous you look when you chastise posters without even responding close to the point they have made? You are STILL dodging the question after the last time you stuck your foot in your mouth No one on this board whines more about "being told what to post or not post" while simultaneously telling everyone else what "to post and not post". Try reading what others post before spewing your off-topic agenda...it would do the board wonders.

Actually they had quit selling beer at the end of the third quarter so most of the bottles were empty. It doesn't make the actions right, but the perception of the harm that could have been caused was much overblown by the media.

It doesn't make the actions right, but the perception of the harm that could have been caused was much overblown by the media. I think the biggest issue then was: once another play has been run, you CANNOT go back and review the previous play - and that's exactly what they did. According to the replay rules - the NFL's replay rules, what happened was against the rules. You cannot review a play AFTER another play has occurred. But they did do it - and the nfl's only explanation is "there was a problem with the buzzer". I don't buy it. The "buzzer" worked a minute later. Imagine this: the pass was ruled an interception, the other team came out, ran a play that was whistled dead, and then the officials said "Oh, wait, we're going to review the play prior to the previous play." Put that game at an away stadium. Browns get the benefit of review of a play that wasn't reviewable, and end up winning the game. How do you think the other teams fans would've reacted?

I agree that it was a bogus call, but I have seen it happen three times since then and there were no throwing of bottles. People booed.

Perhaps I should add that the throwing of bottles was wrong..........my bad. Especially the throwing of bottles at the officials as they left the field. The Browns, and the fans, got slobber knockered on that call. What are the other 3 instances? (I watch Browns games, and not many others other than playoff games, so I'm not aware of the other 3 times the nfl has reviewed an unreviewable play)

Exactly...I was at that game...twelve rows off the field right above the visiting team's field exit...there was very little potential for harm. (Even though the throwing of bottles was STUPID.) ESPN played it up like the bottles were made of glass.
