SHOCKED is what I am. I thought there might be a few minor hits, but NO WAY did I expect Brady would suspended 4 games and a million dollar fine for the Pats and the loss of two picks. WOW..

I'm shocked, but very pleased.

Guys like those in New England, Atlanta and yes, our very own Mr. Farmer have to learn, this league has rules, and they have to adhere to them.

If they don't like them, then lobby to get them changed but don't ignore them.

If memory serves me correctly, the folks in Atlanta and Farmer haven't been involved in anything like this before. But Belichick has and it's cost him and the team..

You might say it's worth it because in the last 15 years, they got 4 rings and took a couple more shots at it and lost. So I guess if Bob Kraft says, hey, I'll pay out a couple of Million and I'll loose a couple of picks because it's worth it to have 4 rings.

Oh well,,,

The Steelers must love this Week one.

Yep, but how do you plan for Garoppolo? Steelers look to get break week 1 but who knows?

I am not going to keep posting on this thread, but it is so freaking funny that the guys who got so bent out of shape while defending Gordon are the very same guys just loving how Brady is being punished.

That is very interesting and revealing about your character.

I agree but I for one, find this petty crap comical. IMO, punishment doesn't fit but alas, communism rolls on.

On a side note. I watched my 1st LFL game, what an experience! A Chicago Bliss DB actually popped open a beer that was thrown to her on the field by a fan and chugged it down between plays, The announcer said, "Hey NFL,how do you like THESE rules?" LMAO

So a Cheater cheats on his wife. Ok

A liar a murderer and a cheater walk into a bar.

The bartender says, " why the long face".

The Liar says, " this guy was with me all last Friday night."

The other two say in unison, " Which One!"

and they all laugh! ... I'm not saying it's not cold hearted.

Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

I am looking forward to watching Garoppolo play. I'd be more than happy if we traded Manziel and a first to get him. I don't think the Patriots would be stupid enough to trade him away though.

I think the Steelers will get owned by Jimmy =)

Gordon's infraction had no impact on the results on the field. Brady's definitely was at least an advantage in his mind, or else he wouldn't have done it/allowed it.

Plus, I went to Ohio State and Brady went to Michigan. Must stomp the skunk weasel while he's down.

I agree with the first sentence and hope for the last. I'd like to see how he does those first four weeks before trading a first and a former first who has time to potentially turn it around.

Totally agree. Until the NFL makes punishments for cheating retroactive it will always be worthwhile to cheat.

That's why almost every major dynasty in the NFL has admitted to or been caught cheating (Pats, Raiders, 49ers, Steelers, Giants, etc and so on).

With the current rules why WOULDN'T you cheat?

I think coming back and continuing to make lots of money would make more sense for Brady. I think adding "That one was for Deflate Gate" at the end of every post victory press conference for the rest of his career would be a better jab at Goodell.

Sickening. The Pats should get the following:

Brady suspended for a year...minimum. End date of suspension to be determined on a whim and delayed until - at least - AFTER the 2016 draft.

No first round picks as long as Brady is on your roster.

Loss of ALL compensatory picks as long as Belicheat is employed by the Pats.

This "punishment" is total BS. We need to start cheating our butts off effective immediately.

I am NOT kidding.

WOW...I cannot believe this. So much of this is being justified by those talking heads by stating - if Brady just was forthright in the investigation as well as the Patriots it would have been much different. So it was not about cheating it was about Power.

Team and Player I think it had a lot to do about appearances. Cause the little PSI difference does not make the QB - I do believe Brady of course knew. I do believe he wanted the balls as low as possible but within the rules - I don't think he ever was in a - I don't care about the rules I want the balls this way. I think the window to take the air out was so slim that it was not done scientifically and perfect. It was a quick, stick the needle in the hole and let some air out...next.

I think the league should have the refs ask each QB where in the range to you want your balls at? And thats that.

Well there is going to be an appeal and with all the PROBABLY and POSSIBLY and MAYBE...it could very well be a successful appeal.

As I understand the report is based on circumstantial evidence which should be no legitimate reason to punish anyone. What I can't believe is they suspended the 2 equipment guys indefinitely.. That is crazy. If it was true they were doing what they were told by Tom Brady.. Most would..I like to think I'm as honest as they come but who knows what I might have done if I were them. Probably would have been afraid of losing my menial job.

I think the NFL viewed the deflation as a "performance enhancing incident." The balls were deflated because it made the grip better. What do you get for using a performance enhancing drug ?? 4 games. What penalty did Brady get ?? 4 games.

Couple that with Brady's refusal to allow the NFL to check out his cell phone and you have an automatic suspension. I do not think an appeal will get a reversal. When you factor in the Patriots past "cheating" reputation, the fact that Goodell and Kraft are friends ( meaning that Goodell has to be harsh to avoid bias charges.. especially after the penalties levied on Sean Payton and the Saints over bountygate ) and Brady's noncooperation with the investigation, I do not look for Brady or the Patriots to get very far in their appeals.

I guess I don't view it as that performance enhancing - just how the QB likes the balls.

The more I think about it the more I wonder how much Brady is involved. Oh I'm sure the equipment guys know his preference. But NE has a history of local heroes. I remember that Snow game vs. Miami where the guy on Prison duty jumps on a Snow blower and carves out a path for the kicker to plant his foot. Maybe these guys wanted to just be heroes???

The refs involvement also taint the report as they lost control of something they were in control of.

What sort of irks me most is that - Atlanta piped in NOISE in home games I thought was a far worse offense. There is no symetry in the justice.

Miami has been found to have Stick-em on their towels for players to use in the sweaty producing heat.

Rodgers stated that he over inflates the ball but should not be considered the same as deflating...

I just don't think the degree of less PSI did much of anything than have Brady more comfortable. His passes are deadly with the deflate or normal. Easier to catch, less fumbles...hog wash. The difference wasn't that great to help the focus of WRs or prevent the hits that cause fumbles. I've seen the ball just pop out of the Pats hands in bad weather as I have with other teams.

I just don't like the smell of this...if its all for none compliance then say that is why...not the talking heads excusing the severity because of that. The NFL should say hey it would have been 1 game if they cooperated.

More than likely the penalty will be changed in the appeal process...but who knows.

I don't have the experience with footballs that you do, but hearing your thoughts on the subject solidifies my own in that it's not that big a deal, doesn't make enough difference and surely not cheating, (other than breaking a dumb rule).

Why should each QB have to throw the same ball anyway? Every person is built differently. Larger/smaller hands and such. This 12.5 to 13.5 lbs of air pressure rule is similar to saying everyone must wear 10.5 to 11.5 shoe size.

It makes me think every team should have their footballs at the pressure they like best. That would eliminate what I'm beginning to think is a stupid rule. It's certainly not equal to the use of performance enhancing drugs which is the same punishment Brady got levied.

While saying all that I do understand that a rule is still a rule and breaking a rule means facing the consequences.

Still, I don't see the big advantage it's being treated as. It's not like it's the reason the Colts couldn't score over 7 points. Even someone insisted that it accounted for 2 of NE's TD's the game would still have been an embarrassing blow-out loss for the Colts.

Ddub, not sure how big a deal it is myself, but does it matter? Nope, there is a rule, they apparently broke the rule. End of discussion.

Anyway, Brady is fighting the suspension. So we'll see what happens.

I haven't heard if the Pats are fighting the 1 million dollar fine and the loss of picks yet.

Kraft said in a statement I read that he didn't believe the Pats did anything wrong so I'm not sure why he wouldn't fight!

Brady's 4 game pay check is about $2 million dollars. The Pats got a $1 million fine. So, other than losing Brady for 4 games they just made about $1 million bucks through not having to pay Brady.

It's like they're being forced to start Garopollo for 4 games and being paid $1 million to do it.

The draft picks hurt bad. And Brady loses money.

And, as usual, the Steelers end up on the lucky end of the deal not having to play Brady in the opening game.

Wow, hadn't even given a thought to the money aspect other than the million they need to pay. Cool for them I guess.

I think they (the Steelers) better hope that Garopolo isn't as good as some folks think he is.

It wasn't that long ago when Tebow beat Pittsburgh, did so in overtime with a 80 yard pass, so let's not get too carried away that Tom won't be there. Steelers still will have to fight IMO for a win.

ddubbia...the 100% needs rules and they do need to be enforced.

I really don't think the difference was that great in making the game more competent. If so then why don't they make the rule to the PSI that Brady has it. If it improves the competence of all that much being a PSI under the minimum - Don't they say they are making this rule and that rule to increase excitement and the offense proliferation? Cause it really doesn't change much. Just a preference of touch and feel for a QB...thy all have their preferences. Before certain rules some would like to rub dirt...some would use a cloth that would take the Oil off used for packing and protection while in storage.

With the current rule they have what they should do is go to each team prior to the game and ask how do you want you footballs. We have a variance of PSI of this to that...you want yours on the lowest point ok...and let them deflate the balls to that acceptable low PSI and not leave it to skullduggery of the ball boys with a simple Air Needle and no guage or time.....Quick Quick Deflate some air out. pfft pfft.
And for the Packers - they want it at the Miximum PSI not more cause that is against the rules. Btw how does Rodgers get his over the MAX? Was it just this Championship game that they kept the balls (referees) or all games.

Who knows what others do.

As mentioned the Dolphins were found to have towels with Stick-em on them. A distinct advantage in the 80-90 degree weather talk about cheating?

I think a lot to do about this is cause the Pats denied, denied and denied. You know what cause of that denial the reports were MAYBE n PROBABLY and "PROBABLY" will be over turned in the appeal process!

But please don't have what I have opined here think I'm against the rules and think they should be broken. I don't think this is as much cheating as those portray it as. I think it is more innocent than all are portraying it as. I definitely think the penalty was way too severe - especially compared to Blasting Canned noise in home games in an indoor arena.

I didn't think for one minute that you were against the rules or that they should be broken. It was just a relief for me, a non-football guy, so see a football guy say the same thing I did, that the p.s.i. is not that big of a deal/not a big advantage.

Personally, I think the NFL has once again screwed up an investigation and issued a ridiculous punishment. Some say the Pats have a history of cheating. The NFL has a history of screwing up these kinds of decisions.

Easy fix... the NFL league office should supply all the game balls to the ref's at proper psi 1 minute prior to kickoff for all games.
