[quote=Dawg_LB]Does it have it's own story or is it tied to Witcher 2 at all? If it is similar to Witcher 2, then you can get by without it. You'll just be a bit confused. There's this Wild Hunt thing or something. Never understood what that was about. But Gerin would always have dreams about it. But the rest of Witcher 2 was great. So I imagine that it'll be similar to that. In that, Witcher 3 will have some backstory based on all the Witcher games/books, but a main standalone story as well. Haven't played the game yet, but that's what I'd assume. I'm trying to beat Bloodborne today, and it's so freakin hard. I love this game, so far my game of the year. No doubt about it. But jesus is it frustrating. Some guy beat the game on like a Rockband Guitar or something. Maybe he's like the Jimi Hendrix of Videogaming. But I have been getting furious at Bloodborne and I'm using my regular controller. And I've perfected the videogame controller for like 24 years (since I had an NES)

I feel I can safely say, having drained many hours into the game and completed a lot of the various quest - the above statement is accurate. Here in there, there's certain terminology used that is yes, confusing, but it's nothing that would leave you totally lost or scratching your head. Witcher 3 is one of the best games Ive played on the ps4 and even though I've put in a lot of hours, I've not even scratched the surface of what all the game has to offer. Especially factoring I bought it used with zero DLC, it's a game I feel you get ALL your money's worth, and then some. Not many games I can say that about...

Now that's a game. I'm at the final boss now, and I'm gonna take a break. The boss is just too hard. I don't even know if I'm gonna bother with him. That game was easily the most emotionally draining game I've ever played. My g/f mocks me, repeating my screams of "Live! Live!" "Health, damnit health!" "Run, run, run, expletive" "I killed you, you SOB!". I've gotten nervous the cops might show up to the condo, luckily the place above me is for sale and hte owner isn't occupying it. Otherwise, they'd think my condo was Domestic Violence Central, lol I see Witcher 3 for 50$ on Amazon and I"ll prob just do that. In the meantime, I'm gonna kick back and play some Assassin's Creed 3 on the WiiU, which I paid like 10$ for (and some Splatoon in between). AC3 is Revolutionary War themed, and hopefully I'll enjoy it more than AC4, which I play every now and then on my PS4

I got Witcher 3 off ebay, 40 bucks shipped. Probably even cheaper now.
I don't have the patience yet for a game like Bloodborne. I'm still recovering from that type of game having recently beat Lords of the Fallen. Too brutal in getting far, not making it to a save point and losing hours of gear and etc.

Too brutal in getting far, not making it to a save point and losing hours of gear and etc. Very little gear in Bloodborne. I used the same weapon I've had since the beginning. There were others, but I figured out the giant axe, and other weapons I tried were less effective for me. There's just a ridiculous amount of skill involved vs any other hack and slash I've played (never played the Dark Souls games). If you don't figure out how to dodge, you will die. It's just amazing. This is no, square square triangle combo thing like the batman/LOtR game. I liked that about Witcher 2 also though. The combat was better than other action rpg sword type games. I imagine Witcher 3 will be the same way. And I looked on Ebay and couldn't find Witcher 3 new for less than 50$. I'll do the amazon and get the prime shipping

Yeah Bloodborne is something I will play eventually. I do like those kinda games, just not back to back/tight time frames.
And you must be wanting a brand new/still sealed game. If I don't feel I want/need the DLC that ships with the games, I'd just buy it used.
Ebay and Craigslist is where I buy all my games that I don't preorder.

I run price ranges.
If it's a short game, I buy pre-owned from Gamestop. Return it in a week, money back, no questions asked. I will probably do this with Splatoon.
If it's a long game, i'll buy it. And I buy it new. But I rarely spend 60$ on a new game. It has to be something that I really anticipate. For example, Fallout 4. Chances are high that I will spend the full 60$ on that one. Bethesda rarely lets me down, and I loved Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Same thing with the next Elder Scrolls. That's a day one buy.
And older games, I look at the prices and make decisions based on that. All about price ranges/longevity though

Splatoon is worth it for the online. It's decent online, but it's still kind of limiting. I hate how there's only a couple stages and only one way to play online.

Beat The Evil Within. Very recommended. If there is any sequel, I likely will preorder it I liked it so much. Evil Within is currently on sale at Best Buy for $20. I'm thinking about getting it today. How long did it take to complete it?

I explored and played it on the hard difficulty setting... can't recall specifically the time but I can tell you for $20 bucks - it's very, very well worth it.

Trying to get some advice, I am looking to get into the Civilization series. Should I start with 5 since it's the latest, and also most highly rated Civilization game out there? I've watched a bunch of videos and I am impressed with the look and feel of the game...
I've got some Steam $$ and was looking to get a game or two, also looking ta Project Zomboid which looks like a fun game as well..

Civ 5 is a beaut.... I'd get both expansions if I were you. Lots of good mods out there that can add a few additional things once you get bored.
I love civ games....still almost always have a game going. Its a beautiful time suck.

Yeah I've been watching videos of gameplay.... A lot of people are saying 5 is above and beyond the rest.
There's also a pretty cool looking zombie game called Project Zomboid where you build up around your house to prevent zombie attacks.

Base game is 29.99 The complete edition (49.99) gives you a bunch of stuff in the bundle. Gods and Kings, Brave New World, and a bunch of little stuff. It's like a 150$ value. How good are these extras?

The game is still the game...the expansions give some new wrinkles in concepts but also new civs, buildings etc.
I personally would go all in. If you've never really played a Civ game before, perhaps buy the base game first and go from there. If you played one of the past ones, get the full deal. The major difference is really the hex play grid rather than the square.

Ha, and sure enough it's on sale this weekend for 7.49. Base game only but that's a steal. IV is on sale for 5 bucks.
Complete for 12.49!

Yeah I just completed my purchase.. 12 bucks for well over 100$ of a game and extras was too good to pass up. Also bought Hotline Miami which seems like a pretty cool top down throwback looking game...

It's supposed to be hard! If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard... is what makes it great!

I haven't picked up Beyond Earth yet because I've been working a ton of hours, but I do plan to pick it up just to get a "different flavor" of Civ

Guys, Witcher 3 has elevated itself to one of the top games I've played, all together.
It's the total package. When I finally beat it, I may cry a tear or two haha.

Beat Witcher 3 last night. Incredibly awesome game, loved it!
Preordered Mad Max. I'm just such a fan of the movies that I broke the wait-to-play protocol... September 1st.

Guys, Witcher 3 has elevated itself to one of the top games I've played, all together.
It's the total package. When I finally beat it, I may cry a tear or two haha. I just started playing Witcher 3. I like it, but I think it'll just be a step up from Witcher 2 in my book. Doubt it'll be one of my favorite evers. Of course, my favorite ever list would be like Mass Effect (Series), Skyrim, WWF: Royal Rumble (Sega Genesis), Shining Force 2 (Sega Genesis), Nintendo Hockey (NES), Half-Life (PC), Age Of Empires: Rise of Rome (PC), Final Fantasy X (PS2), There's gotta be some that I'm missing....... I like sports games, especially the first 2k sports on the Dreamcast...... Anyway, if it can match up to Dragon Age: Inquisition, I'll be very impressed. So far, my game of the year is Bloodborne. But I've got Witcher, the new Batman (gonna borrow it from my buddy), Fallout 4 (can't wait, I didn't add that in the list, but I love Fallout). Plus this new Metal Gear Solid 5 is getting ridiculous reviews..... So I'm gonna be getting that one. I'm optimistic for the new Mad Max also. I get the feeling that game is either gonna be awesome, or it'll suck. It seems to have lofty goals. So for Witcher 3 to be my game of the year, it's going to have quite a lot of competition. I get the feeling that Fallout 4 will be taking that one. Bethesda just does such a good job I just finished Wolfenstein: The New Order. That game was fun. It was well-made, and who doesn't like killing Nazis...... I liked Splatoon for a little while, but I ended up returning it (pre-owned, within a week at gamestop) because it just didn't offer enough. That game could have been wonderful, but it lacked options. It was very limiting. Not many maps to play on, few game modes, and the single player sucked

I never got to play any of the other Witcher games so I can't compare.
I don't play fallout, but I can vouch the new batman was/is pretty darn good.
Msd Max is supposed to have fighting similar to batman, which has the best fighting controls in any game IMO.
We will see, Bloodborne is still on my to do list.

I picked up Madden 16 today after playing the early access version over the weekend. It's actually decent this year.
For those of you who have a PS4 and enjoy horror games, check out Until Dawn. I've had it on in the background on Twitch for the last few hours, it's very good.

Did they change up Franchise/CCM at all?
The menus in the last few games have made it unplayable to be..
I dont care how many different catch or tackle animations there are if I dont want to play the game because its stupid..
Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

I dont care how many different catch or tackle animations there are if I dont want to play the game because its stupid.. Yeah, it's been changed a bit. The menus have a different layout, it looks like a new product in that sense. You still have to scroll through them like before, but they've seemed to cluster the more used ones together instead of making you search every time. The scouting is also different. I only dabbled with it for a few minutes last night, but it seems more realistic from my time with it. HOWEVER, there is apparently an issue with player progression/regression and EA has suggested not starting a franchise until they release a patch. The date for said patch is currently unknown, so I'm moving forward with my franchise. If the fix is that major, I'll restart my franchise. But, I'm not going to not play the only mode I care about for what could be weeks. The gameplay really is much better. There is FINALLY WR/DB interaction, including pass breakups and interference penalties. Because of just that, it feels like a different game on the field. I've had a lot of fun with it so far through 6 games, it certainly feels different from past iterations.

The lack of a single player campaign makes me a bit nervous about this game. I'm gonna hold off and wait and see I think. I'm in the middle of Witcher 3, and I wanna borrow my buddy's batman after that. Mix in MGS5, and I just don't see myself having the time right away. So I'll wait and see, and make my decision after its release

Middle of Witcher 3 means you have hours, and hours... and hours to go lol. awesome game!

So Madden 16 on Xbox 360 is literally just Madden 15 with a roster update..
And also they made Cleveland's Jerseys wrong..
Its like they are purposely trying to piss me off..
