People get on me for talking about us passing on Teddy and choosing Johnny. They say that it's the past.

So, why are you guys still talking about Gordon? He isn't here. He made his own bed. He can't play for the Browns this year. He might not ever play again.

True, he may never play again. However, unlike Bridgewater, we do own his rights...

I think this time and date next year would be an appropriate time to discuss Josh Gordon ... JMHO

Know what vers? When I asked you a question in a different thread about - something like "ok vers, you're right. We'd be in a better spot had we drafted TB. Where do we go from here?" (that's not a quote though). You replied with a couple of paragraphs about what YOU thought the Browns could do. Basically, to get Farmer help in evaluations.

When you expounded on the "we could've/should've had TB" comments you have made so often - it made sense to me.

It was an "Oh, so THAT'S what he's getting at" moment.

See, once you explained a little bit more in depth, I got an appreciation for where you are/were coming from.

You likely should. It would avoid misunderstanding...

I don't really like using it, but it seems so many people often misunderstand the intent that I do find it helpful.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Thus the rationale for using purple...

Josh Gordon was picked by a long ago regime, a 2rd was used, he's been spectacular when he played.....but, as Mangini stated, character counts, he's shown none...he lied about so thankful Browns gave me this chance, won't screw it up....lip service...we own his rights, would love to trade him for something....would NEVER trust him again, he isn't worth the hassle, some team, because of his talent will give us something.....always, Go Browns!!!

That only works when the spoken word is augmented visually. When only in print, most people will either misunderstand or it flies over their head...

Maybe my point of view is callous. But when players don't or not able to contribute to the team; they become invisible.

IR players are just gone. Next guy needs to step in and play.

Josh Gordon has to prove through his actions that he can help the team. He earned his suspension. He needs to earn his way back to the team.

When he is ready I will welcome him back.

I share that POV. If (and I realize it is a very big "if") Gordon can get his act together, he would be a valuable addition to our offence...

Add Gordon to the current receiver corp and at a reduce rate.

As you say a lot of "if." Add one more "if." Think what happens "if" JFF proves to be a reliable QB. Gordon comes back next year...hmmm, offense, all of a sudden, doesn't look so terrible. To think, JFF improves enough to equal or better Dalton Browns could be a playoff team.

Not from this dawg...if he ever returns to us. He has a lot of ground to make up regardless of his talent he has to become part of a unit and do all things good not an individual...throw me the ball type guy. If will have to work extra hard and stay clean to win me over and consider him part of the team...when I do yeah (not extra draft pick) cause his youth is gone but maybe as a 1 2 year contract FA at a bargain price.

Browns official has been in touch with suspended WR Josh Gordon

CLEVELAND -- The Browns haven't washed their hands of Josh Gordon.

A Browns official has corresponded with Gordon this offseason, according to a source. Gordon is serving a one-year suspension for multiple violations of the league's drug and alcohol policy.

The NFL permits teams to contact a player serving a one-year suspension only through a player-engagement rep, according to spokesman Greg Aiello. The Browns are following that rule.

Gordon was suspended for 10 games last year after a failed drug test, then failed to score a touchdown in a return to the lineup. The Browns sidelined Gordon for the season finale at Baltimore for missing or being late to several meetings. The league levied the yearlong suspension in February after Gordon failed an alcohol test in Las Vegas while on a postseason trip with teammates.

In 2013, Gordon was approaching elite wide receiver status after 87 catches for 1,646 yards and nine touchdowns.

Agent Drew Rosenhaus told the Cleveland Plain Dealer earlier this month that Gordon gets up to 10 drug or alcohol tests monthly and has remained clean.

"It's a difficult process, and it's meant to be difficult, obviously," Rosenhaus told the newspaper. "But I've got faith in him, and he'll get through this tough time and he still has a very bright future in the NFL, in my opinion."

That bright future can't begin until February, when Gordon is up for reinstatement. He can't rejoin team activities until the NFL allows him to do so.

I hope we get every bit of value out of Josh Gordon that we can. If that means he plays for us again I am fine with that. If that means we trade him for whatever we can get, I am fine with that too.

I hope he retires here as a 12 time Pro Bowl WR. With six Super bowl Rings.

AND then I remembered I'm a Browns fan...

The "no contact" rule is so dumb. But I don't know why we broke it.

It would have been nice to find out why we were contacting him? That might be interesting

The answer maybe just basic.

They want to keep tabs on how he's doing, what he's getting into, and if he's staying in shape, ect.

But I have nothing to back that up.

I just know if I were running the team, I would want to know that kind of stuff in regards to my star receiver.

Well considering our WR coach was with him partying on the plane when the Browns knew he wasnt allowed to have alcohol, they might be a little more understanding of his latest suspension.

I think these partial suspensions just fed the monster believing oo i will lose a few games and be back.

Now he has no guarantees he will even be invited back to the NFL. The commish has to throw him a bone. I havent completely given up on the kid but his chances are very very slim at this point of ever playing another down in the NFL but it is intriguing to see if he really has any desire to be an NFL player.

Kinda failed the seeing is believing for me. Seems like the folks supporting Josh care about him more than Josh has for the team. Looking forward to a season with less off-field nonsense.

Makes as much sense as any other reason (except for a weed connection) LOL

I've tuned Josh Gordon out so bad, that I only remember he's on the team when someone posts something new in this thread and it's highlighted. Then I forget about him until the process repeats.

I'd love to be in one of those meetings with Farmer and the coaching staff when they discuss Josh. If they kept him on the team, not really a shocker. If they axed him, not really a shocker. If they shopped him like a pimp does his hoes, willing to take the lowest form of compensation, again, wouldn't be a shocker.

Hell, if he fails another test or gets in trouble again before even knowing he'll be reinstated, wouldn't be anything surprising.

I would suggest that money talks, less so desire. If he can't stay clean in order to make himself financially sufficient for the rest of his life, then shame on him...

I'd hope most of us have tuned him out. I mean what good does it do to dwell on him.

I own two Josh Gordon Nike jersey's so all of these issues with him are actually my fault.

Other jersey's I've owned?

Kellen Winslow, Joe Jurevicious, Gerrard Warren, Brady Quinn, William Green.

You get the picture.

Whenever I get a Jersey, the players career goes to crap.

I'm just going to leave my Haden jersey in the closet...

Oh, and after DQ was released I got his Nike jersey on NFL.com for $35 last Summer, and sure enough after the season he beats up a pizza guy over a parking spot.....

A lot of those were gifts to be honest.

But I am sad to admit that I spent my own money on a William Green jersey, as well as a Joe Jurevicious jersey.

Jurevicious though I still really liked while he was here playing, it's just a shame he got that staph infection....
