Josh McCown is the best this front office could come up with at the QB position. Let that sink in for a bit. Who else was there and available? Michael Vick? Would you have wanted them to give up everything for broken knee Sam Bradford? Let that sink in for a bit... hoyer, ryan mallett, Bryce Petty, Brett Hundley. sick of answering this question by the way. all of who has a better chance of being a QB on our team 3 years from now.

Didn't Nick Foles get traded?
Couldn't they have drafted Teddy, Carr, or Jimmy G the year before?
I am sick of the excuses for Farmer's mishandling of the QB position.

Why couldn't this article have gone in the "Browns Roster Ranks #14" or the "Browns Over/Under" threads? What's the point in starting another thread discussing the Browns' personnel? Did you read it? It said.............future, as in the next 3 years.

They are? By signing Josh McCown and drafting Johhny Rehab? Right now, you don't know $#!% about how either one of those moves will work out. And those two QBs aren't the only moves they've made to better the team. So yes, in the broad spectrum, and in specific areas, they are. I know Johnny was a first round draft pick and he sucked butt last year. I know that McCown is a career crappy qb and was cut by the worst team in football. What the hell do you know about them? Oh, and Cal...........what are your thoughts on the Bowe signing? Be careful, I have some of your old comments about him. Hmmmm.........what was the word? When do you take the meat off the grill? Obviously, when it is "DONE." Remember those comments, Cal...........or are you going to change your story?

Until you provide a reasonable solution/answer, then the question will continue to be asked. JF is just as much a gamble than Petty/Hundley/Mallet and equally you could say Thad Lewis is "better" for the simple fact he has game time, real-bullets flying experience. And both those people, JF and Thad, are already on the team.

Dawg........I hear what you are saying, but if people are going to say "who was a better option this year," than we also have to consider who was a better option when they drafted their first year. Does that make sense?
Would we be in this position had we drafted Teddy?
The answer is hell no!!! We would probably be reading how analysts were picking us for the playoffs. I think it is wrong to say that there were no better options this year and then completely ignore the previous year.
I know people don't want to hear it, but it is what it is.

I know people don't want to hear it, but it is what it is. Gotta deal and work with the cards you get, we got JF. I've backed you up many times on Teddy, no question he was who I wanted during the draft and as he continued to fall, the more I was getting excited. But what happened, happened... we got an arrogant punk, total team distraction, goofball and a embarrassment on the field with Manziel. Kid went through rehab, and as much as I don't really believe in him, nor kinda really don't care about him - he is just as I said, as much a gamble as pblack's mentioned names. The total point, after a failure with JF, Hoyer not being able to get the job done and breaking down going into this offseason... there just were no free agent options worth anything. What do you, and anyone else, except the staff to do after a first round failure that was, probably still is, a horrendous player on/off the field? Make chicken salad out of chicken crap? Time machine back to the draft and get Teddy or Carr?

Those discussions, about the roster we have now, exist on several threads--most notably the threads I suggested that this article reside. So my questions stands-- why isn't this article included on the threads that already exist? Why did this need it's own thread?

You make good points and yes, you are right about moving forward.
My point is that you have to evaluate people who are in positions that affect the future of the team.
I don't think Farmer should get a free pass because his bad moves occurred a year ago. Do you?

Not to take this thread in this direction, with speculation and etc, but I contribute JF to Mr. Haslam. In any case, I see what you're saying, some people should be evaluated, but I wouldn't see the situation where people should be calling for heads.
No doubt, as of today, both Farmer's first rounders are, IMO, total failures who need to bounce back and bounce back big time. He's done some good and has turned a lot of stones and gotten some killers undrafted like Williams and etc. Let's not pretend other GMs have burned first round pick(s) and have got nothing outta it, it happens often at the qb position .

Nobody on your "list" is anything from a franchise qb or anything much better than Josh. What's the point you're trying to make? That there was other options? Yeah, okay you got me. But none any better than what we got.

LOL...............I posted an article and he wonders why. I try to explain and he comes back w/some tactic of mine about not agreeing w/me???? What?????????? I could care less where the article goes. I considered posting it on one of the other threads, but they have all taken the predictable turns and this one was about the NEXT THREE YEARS RATHER THAN THIS YEAR. I rarely start threads. I can't believe I have to justify starting a thread during the Dead Zone. This is what I was talking about in another thread. I guarantee you that a lot of people don't post on here because of the attack mentality of the majority. You can't even post an article w/out being attacked.

But none any better than what we got. well obviously thats not my opinion. obviously i think if there is doubt about whether THE qb is on the team then you bring in someone that at least has a chance to be that guy. no matter how slim that chance is. i really have a hard time believing that there are not QBs that have more of a chance than mCcown, thad and shaw. so i put up 4.

You obviously did not think it was worthy of posting, so why don't you simply ignore it and save us the pain of having to read your crap?

Reading "crap" is a POV. You don't like it, because for the most part, it points out your many contradictions. But us posters have to suffer through your "crap" almost every day, outside of your bi-weekly suspensions, of course. So it is a bit hypocritical (a common term used for you) to comment on "crap".

There's no avoiding the fact that I have differences with you but I don't think it was inappropriate to post the article. My biggest problem with the premise of the article is that there is no accounting for and no way to account for the 2015 rookie class. So there is an entire chunck of the the roseter with no way to calculate their contribution. Especially over a three year period when you would expect a number of players in this rookie class to show something.

That is fair and I agree w/you. In fact, I wouldn't even rank us that low.
It's the damn QB situation that messes w/me. I am hoping JM suddenly finds magic. It's not impossible. He was great in college. A very special player.
We rip each other's throats out, but I believe we all want the Browns to win.
Peace.
