Anyone who believes RW is going anywhere...um I have some beachfront property to sell you! I was more throwing out the idea, that if they decided to Franchise him next offseason, to work out a deal.. Would you consider going after him, with the price being most likely two 1st round picks.. I understand the chance of it getting to that point are slim..

Yes. Although it almost never gets to that point. Wilson will sign an extension in the next few weeks. Every time a QB signs a new deal (Tannehill, Newton) the price tag for Wilson goes up. The Colts and/or the Seahawks would be wise to sign their guys now so that the other team doesn't drive up the price.

Yep! I'm extra curious how someone like Cam is going to get compensated. Especially in comparison to one and done Dalton.
Not every Qb has a Lynch and a stout run game and defense to back on, so it'll also be intriguing how Wilson's pay day will unfold.
I agree though, pretty sure it have been in Seattle's favor to sign their players before others have a chance to set the bar.

Details of Newton's contract are trickling out. He is going to get at least $20 million a year.

As a guy more interested in being famous, than being a good QB.. Hes a step or two away from being officially a Franchise QB.. And as Carolina slowly puts more young weapons around him, he will get even better..

Or the GM get fired...lol There always is the slight possibility that Wilson does not want to stay on the West Coast? Or knows he will make a larger chunk of change going elsewhere.
jmho $$$ talks...You would think Seahawks will do everything they can to keep him there.

jmho $$$ talks...You would think Seahawks will do everything they can to keep him there. If the Seahawks, somehow, do not manage to sign him, and Franchise him with the non-exclusive tag ..... then I hope the Browns would immediately have an obscenely rich contract ready for Wilson the very second he hits the market. I do not expect Wilson to hit the market, but if he somehow, inexplicably does, then I hope that the Browns are prepared to move immediately. Mistakes don't happen often, but they can happen. The Broncos lost a certain Hall of Fame caliber pass rusher to the darn Ravens because they screwed up a contract situation, and let it go too long, past an irrevocable deadline.

They might get into a situation where they don't have the cap space to sign him and be forced to use the franchise tag. They can always match anyone else's offer if cap space allows. We certainly have the cap space to out bid just about anyone. I'll give up 2 first all day long for a proven QB.

Agent doesn’t deny notion that Russell Wilson wants to be NFL’s highest-paid player http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/201...st-paid-player/Russell Wilson leaving Seattle in 2016 is a real possibility Russell Wilson surely wants to be the highest paid player in the NFL. And he almost surely will be, at least until Andrew Luck or someone else sets the ever-rising bar even higher. The real question becomes whether he’ll get that record-setting-until-the-next-record-setting deal from the Seahawks or someone else. The Seahawks currently face the three options set forth earlier today: (1) sign Wilson to a long-term deal; (2) apply the non-exclusive franchise tag; or (3) apply the exclusive franchise tag. (There’s technically a fourth option that will be addressed in a later post — that’s called a tease, Jimmy.) Those are the choices the Ravens faced in February 2013 with quarterback Joe Flacco, and the Ravens opted to make Flacco the highest-paid player in the league, a title he held for barely two months. The Ravens gave Flacco a contract $120.6 million over six years (which included $62 million over the first three) because the exclusive tag would have cost more than $19 million for 2013 (and nearly $75 million over three), and because the non-exclusive tag would have opened the door for the Browns or someone else to swoop in and offer the market-value deal the Ravens wouldn’t. The possibility of the Seahawks opting not to pay a market-value deal and also opting not to use the exclusive franchise tag (which likely would result in a three-year payout to Wilson of more than $98 million) would leave the Seahawks with one choice: Apply the non-exclusive tag, assume the risk that someone else will sign him to an offer sheet reflecting a market-value deal, and either match the offer or accept two first-round picks as compensation from Wilson’s new team. Apparently, Wilson already has accepted the possibility that he’ll eventually be moving from Seattle to a new NFL city, in the same way he moved from North Carolina State to Wisconsin. Per a league source, the Seahawks for now remain intent on working out a long-term deal with Wilson. At some point, though, the possibility of using the non-exclusive tag and harvesting a pair of first-round picks will become more distinct — especially if the two sides can’t make real progress toward a long-term agreement. There’s still plenty of time before the drop-dead point arrives. In a deadline-driven business, the real deadline for the Seahawks comes just as the annual window for applying the franchise tag arrives in 2016. But Seattle can create a practical deadline for Wilson by making a very large offer short of his market value before training camp opens, or at the latest before the season begins. Although Wilson seems to be content to play in 2015 at a mere $1.5 million, there’s a number less than what he could get after his rookie deal expires that would change his mind now. In the coming days and weeks, an effort undoubtedly will be made to craft such an offer. But if a long-term deal can’t be reached before the regular season begins, the wheels will be in motion on a train that could result in Wilson rolling to another NFL city for 2016. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/201...al-possibility/

Russell Wilson surely wants to be the highest paid player in the NFL. But is he the best player in the NFL, or the most valuable? Surely not, therefore why would he deserve it? I struggle with some teams allocating 1/7th of their salary to only one player. Yeah, I know, it's all relative...

Salaries increase as time goes on. If he does become the highest paid player in the NFL, it won't be for long.
One can make an argument that he is one of--if not thee--most valuable player[s] in the NFL. How good was Seattle w/all that talent before he took over at qb?
I think Seattle keeps him and this is all part of the negotiating process. They would be insane to allow him to walk.

There are few players that I'd say paying a tremendous amount of money and classifying that as a "no-brainer" action, Wilson and Luck are two QBs that I'd say... open the wallet and hold your breathe lol...

I'd pay him whatever he wants. I'm sure in the end that is probably what is going to happen. End Result, their championship years will soon be over. Just won't be able to keep foundation there with the highest paid QB in the Cap.

How good was Seattle w/all that talent before he took over at qb? In 2010, Carrols first year.. They went 7-9 and made the playoffs.. Was Earl Thomas and Kam Chancellors rookie years.. Acquired Marshawn Lynch in Week 4. 2011, 7-9.. Richard Sherman's rookie year.. Then they drafted Wilson.. I think when you look at it really.. While Thomas, Lynch, and Sherman were there before Wilson.. It wasn't as if they were this loaded team that was struggling.. just waiting for a QB.. It was built pretty quickly.. But in the NFL, sometimes 3-4 years isn't quick enough for most fan bases or owners.. Sadly..

Bit of both..
They had Hasselbeck, who still at that poi t in his career wasnt a slouch..
I was mostly replying to the idea, in response to your "all that talent" comment, that all the talent they have was still really young and new at that point..
And Wilson didnt come straight into the league as a Franchise Guy. Hence why they paid Flynn all that money, and waited till the 3rd round to take him..
He was, and IMO still slightly is a game manager, but is obviously got quickly out of that role..
I think overall team wise, beyond QB, we are way ahead of where they were when they got Wilson. And the benefit of only paying his as a 3rd rounder is why they can keep that core together a little longer than say what Baltimore now has to do with Flaccos contract..
In the end, itd be a wonderful problem for us to have... obviously..

Let's say Seattle doesn't get a long term deal done with Wilson after the season is over and he gets the franchise tag instead. Could anyone see the Browns signing him to a record breaking deal regardless while also giving up a 1st and 3rd round pick? I could see Haslam/Farmer pulling a move like that if they felt desperate enough, and while I'm optimistic about the up coming 2015 season I still don't think more than 6 or 7 wins is all that realistic. If a guy like Russell Wilson were to become available I could see Cleveland finally shelling out some top shelf money to him.
Although if I were a betting man, I would bet Wilson stays in Seattle.

Pretty sure the Franchise Tag is 2 first round picks...unless the new CBA changed that.
I don't think we would give up 2 first round picks. But it would be interesting cause he is young. I would be good going either way on that.

Two first round picks?
I swear I thought it was only a 1st and a 3rd.
Wilson was a third rounder.
Even then. If Haslam/Farmer have a chance to get this teams franchise QB, I still bet they would.
No question marks surrounding Russell Wilson like their are Bradford and Mariota.

I don't know Tab. To move up in the draft you can look at how things played out with RG3 to see that getting a known commodity like Wilson for two 1st round picks would be quite a bargain.
Of course he won't be leaving Seattle anyway so the point is moot.

When you have success with a running game there is no reason to pass often - just effective.
My dream game as a coach...throw 10 passes all game and 4 of them being TDs. That spells a perfect game for my team!
