I would feel better about our QB position if we had traded for Mike Glennon. He may not be great but I think he can be a Flacco and at this point that would push us into the playoffs. I said this when people were talking about us getting a QB, pre McCown. At least he is young with some upside. Looks like Tampa Bay figured that one out too. IMO EJ Manuel will be available early on TC... bet we make a play for him... ugh

Josh McCown = Brandon Weeden 2.0. They call him Flipper...Flipper... Well call me crazy, but I'll take Weeds 10x over McCown any day...any day! The signing of McCown for the $$ they gave him should be incredibly embarrassing to Farmer. One of the worse signings of the new Browns...now that's saying something!
Congratulations to our 2016 NBA Champion CLEVELAND CAVALIERS!!! Greatest comeback in sports history... Hail to the King!

For those of you who are qb experts, how does he stack up compared to hoyer As long as McC's the yes-man that the front office wanted, it doesn't matter.

I honestly don't have high hopes. I mean I DO hope Josh will have a good year for us. For most of his career he has played on some bad teams. It's hard to fairly judge a QB when he is moved from one terrible team to another.
The team obviously wants to give Johnny a shot to improve. They have a first round pick and they are doing everything they can for him. It's up to him to make the most of that. I don't have any high hopes for him either.
There were no other decent QB's to be had that was worth making them the face of our franchise. There just wasn't. We are stuck with what we have and that is that.
They reality is that it might be YEARS before we have a chance at landing even a DECENT QB much less a good QB. There is just a big shortage of them. There are tons of avg QB out there just not many that you would call special.
I like that our team recognizes that and is going gung ho in finding a stable of running backs and a stud offensive line to block for them. It's a smart decision to make the most of a bad situation. I really, really like what they are doing in that regards.
When we finally do land a good QB they will have the support cast to make them special. It's just sad it probably won't happen while Joe Thomas is still our LT. Still I bet we make it into the playoffs with in the next two seasons.

I'm looking forward to a stifling defense and a quality power running game with juuuuust enough passing game to keep everyone and their mother from stacking the box. The key will be to limit Josh's ability to kill games. He, unfortunately, looks like a prototypical Browns QB. In fact he looks like a composite of like 8 of our former QB's. Joy.

mac - I know you wanted to keep Hoyer (well I believe that's what you have posted). mg88...time out..show me where I mentioned Hoyer in this thread, one time...show me!
I started this thread to take a closer look at the man who is going to be our starting QB of the Browns, if someone does not beat him out.
If the information I have posted is not true or inaccurate, you have a right to complain.
But don't give me this crap that this thread is about last years starting QB for the Browns...it is not!
I suggest you stop making excuses for McCown's performance last year, while he was the Bucs starting QB and now the Browns starting QB (for now).

He won't shit in his pants once established with some success and fall apart. Then again he could suck also...I guess we will find out. But putting stats up from a pretty bad year will not define him...just as 7-6 doesn't define Hoyer as a WINNER...I saw his last four games...when it was all on the line and he Flat Out CHOKED....don't forget those stats. The worst recorded NFL QB statistically for a 4 game stretch...according to PFF.
As your moniker shows...you cannot dress up a Pig or in that case one ugly dawg...lol Did he defecate the bed or did the entire offense defecate the bed. I don't remember the running game piling up big numbers and I do remember Gordon admitting to running the wrong route's on several occasions that we ALL know about. You want it to be simple when it suits you and complicated bordering on pure fantasy when it comes to McCown. I can easily see Hoyer turning the bad play to good because he has played well in the past McCown on the other hand thru his extensive 12 year NFL career has had one period of time in that career when he produced more wins then loses and that was to the tune of 3-2. He has thrown nearly 2 ints per start and he has fumbled nearly 2 times per start over the course of 12 seasons. Do the math that means he will trun the ball over 3 + times per game. How will that help us NOT defecate the bed, tell me I want to know? Like it or not 7-6 is better then 1-10..... So you know, I will take a guy defecating the bed over a guy that can't even find the bedroom.

Hoyer played worse when they kept trying to make him throw the deep ball instead of a short to medium passing game. I think hoyer is a smart QB who can make decisions fast but he just doesn't have the ability to accurately throw beyond 20 yards on a consistent basis.
I don't understand why coaches try to force plays that don't work on QBs unsuited to run them. Instead they should understand what they have to work with and adapt the playcalling to help him out instead of hinder him. That was one thing that annoyed me about our OC last season. He got too desperate and started calling bad plays that Hoyer had no hope of executing well.

It's gotta be a joke, right? They drafted first, and picked Winston. You don't draft a QB first overall (especially one with so many character flags) if you think you've got the QB on your roster. Glennon's 2015 salary is $687,188. McCown was due $5.25 million. Either one of them was going to be the backup. It's as simple as that as to why they made the choice they did.

He got too desperate and started calling bad plays that Hoyer had no hope of executing well. I know that it is the popular perception on these boards that Hoyer was a terrible deep passer, and I agree that we all saw a couple really awful deep attempts last year. One in particular sticks out, the punt he threw to Hawkins - and it was a completion. But I also recall a couple really nice deep throws (as I mentioned recently on another thread) to Gabriel and Cameron where the ball was right where it needed to be, was caught, and each guy proceeded to fall down with a TD in front of him. So while I concede that deep passes are not his strong suit, I also think he was not nearly as bad throwing deep as most here think he was. * Per NFL stats, he completed 51 passes over 20 yards, good for 11th among NFL QBs. * He completed 10 passes over 40 yards, good for 6th among NFL QBs * His YPA was 7.6 yds, good for 9th among 33 (qualified) starters. For comparison purposes only, here's McCown's numbers: * Per NFL stats, McCown completed 28 passes over 20 yards, good for 29th among NFL QBs. * He completed 6 passes over 40 yards, good for 25th among NFL QBs * His YPA was 6.75, good for 31st out of 33 (qualified) starters. In fairness, McCown did throw 111 (327 vs 438) fewer passes than Hoyer, but Hoyer's numbers are still much better if attempts were equalized. Still, it seems most posters here feel McCown will bring a better deep ball than Hoyer did, and I'm just saying ... I don't think so. http://www.nfl.com/stats/categorystats?statisticCategory=PASSINGhttp://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/player/_/stat/passing/sort/yardsPerPassAttempt

Mac...all I know is if you are not hit you won't get sacked. If you are not hit you will not fumble.
Guess what...point blank their OL Sucked. Teams were playing the pass...Did you read anything on the differences from Chicago and Tampa? Lets see you run a Spread offense with 5 pretty crappy OL. Ya think the QB is not going to get hit...every pass almost? Did he hold onto the ball too long is that why? Was he trying to win games maybe why? I personally thought he was worse then the norm when getting rushed like crazy. But how much better would have been the Best? The environment was terrible.
Glennon did they change the formation to protect the young QB - did they go to the run game more and not the spread pistol? I don't know.
What I do know we keep him clean here...not Tamp not Chicago...here I think he will do well.
jmho Its not stats...I apologize but it is football I think...who knows maybe its just HOMERISM... I'm sure some will think that.

And if you hold the ball longer, you're more likely to be sacked.

EO..agree with what you stated, comparing QBs on different teams/Olines, situations just doesn't make sense to me...like comparing 85 Bears beating 90s 49ers...using stats...someone is just making money and discussing possiblities....I think/hope McCown with our line has successful season....GO Browns!!!!

Obviously you don't get what I'm trying to convey.
btw...I already stated over and over and over to the negativeness that I don't think he will do well if he gets probably HALF THE PRESSURE he did in Tampa. He probably won't do well if they do not respect the run and play more than 7 in the box. I do believe this. And if that is the case I expect to see the Helter Skelter take over and yes he holds onto the ball.
My question to you since you seem to have all the answers...did he hold onto the ball too long in Chicago? If so why did he do well?
The other thing I would like to add. Did he hold onto the ball while he made Progressions...and nothing was there. Or did he hold onto the ball too long, locked onto ONE WR the whole time waiting for him to get open.
I bring that up cause the later was Weeden and most I ever saw hold onto the ball. Didn't care to add it up but if you know that he made progressions just saying he isn't a total waste like a Weeden type QB.
Again what I AM SAYING is that, we keep him clean I do think he will do well. Then I get...OH NO HE WON'T LOOK AT TAMPA...is 1-10 was you say is Do Well?
I think I'm pretty clear in what I'm saying. It has nothing to do with Tampa cause the Environment there is not going to be the same here. Oh he has WRs Jackson and Evans...but as I have also said - WRs are over rated in the REAL FOOTBALL SCHEME OF THINGS...

I think we do disagree on WR's to some degree, but not by a huge margin. If you have "elite" WR's like Marshall and Jeffries, combined with a great RB like Forte', you have a complete cast of elite athletes in all the skill positions to surround yourself with. Not only does the D have to respect the pass, but the run too. So in this case, you have a D playing the run with elite WR's on the field.
I don't believe we really have the WR's that command anything more than single coverage. So I do believe it will make it easier for opposing D's to keep 8 men in the box and still cover the pass. I think you can win in the NFL when you have a good QB with average WR's or an average QB with very good WR's. But I don't believe you win your division with a below average QB with an average at best WR core.
You wish to double dip in the below average category and still come out a winner. A quality OL alone won't accomplish that. I'm big on the OL as you know. But it's still one unit of the O. It alone will not win you division titles.

Hit...what I think is sort of funny we got all these experts here breaking down his entire career - MINUS 2013...well that year doesn't count in his career, after all he had 2 WR a TE and a RB that were all very good. That was why he did well. I guess those guys taught him for one season not to hold onto the ball? I guess those guys actually taught him to do play action.
I guess those guys must have taught him to throw to his RBs more often. Then that all disappeared with THOSE GUYS cause they weren't there in Tampa...or were they?
lol
What I cannot understand is why point to the bad and just say SEE THIS IS WHAT HE IS.
Instead what I at least would like to educate myself on is. What made him do so well in Chicago and how much of that can we reproduce here and possibly Improve on it?
Nah...why do that and then see if our team does those things.
Silly me. I'm just a Homer!

So let me get this straight, you're standing on his 3-2 record in 2013?
A five game stint?
So you have no problem saying Hoyer was a flash in the pan and crapped the bed based on a 9-6 record but claim McCown is just the opposite based on a 3-2 record?
I don't think that anyone is dismissing a five game run of 3-2 over a 12 year NFL career. some re just keeping it in context.

He tossed the ball up in Chitown a lot and those big WR's went up and got the ball sheeeeeesh your ignoring what you KNOW to be a honer instead...... We can't match that here we brought in some taller receivers for him to chuck it up to but their both on the backside of their careers all stuff you know and choose to ignore......

Maybe it is me but I am not getting your point.
======================================================== " Considering the huge targets McCown had to throw to, I would predict a much lower Int %. " =========================================
Are you saying he threw int's because he had tall receivers? And now because he has shorter guys to throw too he will have a better int %?
Where is the logic?
He made high throws because he thought tall receivers would go up and get the balls? So now with shorter receivers he will keep the throws down?
McCown has 12 years in the league with six different teams. He is what he is; a career backup and part time starter. His stats do not lie and neither does the tape.
I have zero expectations. He is the same as Hoyer or Jason Campbell or a bunch of other guys.
If Manziel can not beat out McCown legitimately than there is not much hope for him as well.
Of the top of my head I can not think of another team with a worse quarterback roster. Chicago with Cutler, Clausen, and David Fales not great either. As much as I dislike Cutler he is at least a real starter. The Bills, Matt Cassel, EJ. Manuel that's pretty close.
We have to play great defense first. Then we have to be able to run the ball. If those things do not happen we will be lucky to win 2 games.

If you wanted to get it straight for real you wouldn't go with the BS.
Get this...he played well in 2013...I did not discuss his Wins and Losses in Chicago.
Do you deny the fact he played well in 2013...Yes or No did he play Good or Bad.
Now this might be the difficult part for you...I'm not talking about Hoyer...I'm talking about McCown.
I'm saying rather than claim Doom and Gloom rather define him as a 1-10 QB with a very very bad team of which got news for you - WE ARE NOT.
Maybe it would actually be productive as a fan and breakdown his GOOD SEASON of late...2013. What happened there. Did he hold onto the ball too long there. If so why was there not the same results. If not why - I thought he was INBRED to hold onto the ball with NO CURE IN SIGHT?
But you wish to ONLY define him with his negative past rather than the positive past and guess what - IT DID EXIST. Was it just a miracle PWANG or were there actual LOGICAL Reasons why he did well.
You are a pretty smart guy. You know exactly what I said. Why insult me with - So you are telling me his 3-2 record...blah blah blah...I told you already what I had to say. But nah you have to counter that with made up stuff of my own opinion. Gee can I make up stuff on what your opinion is...
I'm not here to make you look smart or stupid. But don't insult me by making up a totally different scenario that I presented.
If you wish to talk about HOYER...
My evaluation and I gave up on Hoyer had nothing to do with his record. What he showed me was the sum of his 7 years in the NFL and I didn't like the prospects to continue with "ALMOST" in my fandom. I don't want someone to almost get the job done. Point blank really I don't wish to insult the guy - I liked him as a person as fellow Browns fan. Sorry his dream didn't come true...actually it did and then HE and ONLY HE Busted that bubble.
Just look at the facts of him being a QB not the SATS and there are plenty of bad stats btw...but them are ignored or countered with hey 7-6. Bad is bad...he had the time he had a clean pocket he had WRs open he had teams playing 8-9 in the box defending the run. He had it...and blew it. I just ask for McCown to have all that and see what he does with it rather than predict the result of a scenario he never had...oh wait he sort of did...2013 in Chicago.

You can say he didn't earn it, but few would earn PT behind Brady. But you ignore that FACT to say 7 years in the league. But 7 years in the league equals 10-7 and that is way way better then McCown. You have closed the book on Hoyer when you and I both know that there was way more then just Hoyer involved. Almost may not be good enough for you. But almost is far and away closer to the end goal then never has been after 12 years and multiple opportunities to show his wears. And then you corner the market on homerism by saying he alone was responsible for the teams collapse which is totally and completely false. Did the Run game do well when Hoyer was struggling? Did Gordon and Cameron run the wrong routes? Was the O Line protection studly? So was it all Hoyer, nah your just so far down the blind alley your going down at this point you don't know how to get yourself out. The ONLY reason Hoyer isn't still here is because Flip wanted his guy and that was McCown. Now lets see what he does with him. And if he manages to get something out of him he will have done something he couldn't do in the past.

Are you saying he threw int's because he had tall receivers? And now because he has shorter guys to throw too he will have a better int %?
Where is the logic? bonefish...McCown's receivers last year were 6-5, 6-5 and 6-2...his TEs were 6-6 and 6-4...thus McCown had huge targets to throw to and should have had fewer ints. and a lower interception percentage.
Earlier I said.."With targets this size, McCown did not need to be so accurate with his passes, especially throwing a high ball."
Interception percentage is figured by taking the total number of ints(McCown had 14 ints) and dividing that number by the total number of pass attempts (327 attempts). 14 divided by 327 = 4.28 rounded up to 4.3%
A low int% is good..for example, Aaron Rogers had the lowest int%, 1.0%. McCown had the highest int% of the starting QBs with 4.3% ranking him #33 in the NFL.
I hope this helps you to understand...mac

Where are you getting this crap of Tampa Bay running a Spread offense w/McCown and providing Glennon w/maximumm protection? The guy has played 12 years. We have a body of work to judge him by. There is absolutely no need to look at a small sample size. Another misconception that I am seeing is that our line is going to always keep him clean. Hoyer's problems began w/two distinct variables: --We lost productive players, including two Pro Bowlers, on offense. --The OL did not give him as much time later in the year as they did earlier in the year. When you combine those two things, guys not getting open as quickly and not getting quite as much time, you get what we got later in the year. And Hoyer did not handle the pressure very well. He started throwing off his back foot ans sailing passes. He lost accuracy. McCown is notorious for holding the ball too long and then making bad decisions when pressured. It is a pipe dream to believe he is not going to get pressured. You seemingly are getting angry at Pit, mac, and BTTB because they aren't agreeing w/you. However, other than some hopeful fans on a Brown's message board, who shares your opinion? All the reporters, including former players and coaches, are bozos, right? You know way more than they do, right? His former teams are run by clueless idiots, right? Arizona should have kept him. Oakland should have kept him. Carolina should have kept him. Chicago should have kept him. Tampa Bay should have kept him. They are all idiots and you, and several other guys on this board, know it all. Got it! But keep acting like we are talking out our butts and you are the only one applying football logic.

How many NFL teams would trade their starting QB for McCown right now? answer ZERO. This whole McCown situation is really no different than what I've seen since 1999. The Browns bring in a vet QB who the front office crosses their fingers and hopes he can revive a flat line offense the year before. has no front office ever learned from histories mistakes with this franchise? every wish and a prayer QB the Browns brought in has failed. when was the last time the Browns had even the 3rd best QB in the North? Josh McCown won't even be challenged for the starting job. He can put up a 67 rating in the preseason and will still win the job. opposing DC's will have no problem coming up with a scheme to stop McCown. this isn't the NFC South he will be facing this year. Cincy,Pitt and Baltimore all have better defenses than the Falcon's Saints Panthers. heres the deal can McCown beat the AFC North. answer no.

jc...McCown has been a starting QB 3 times in his 12 yr nfl career..2004, 2007, 2014. McCown's record as a starter is 9-24.
As a backup, McCown's best year was 2013 with the Bears.
In 2014 McCown as the Bucs starting QB, it was his worst performance of his career.
These are McCown's stats last season as the Bucs starting QB...
comp% = 56.3%............31st yds/att = 6.75...............32nd yds/game = 201 yds/g...29th ints = 14 in 11 games int.% = 4.3% ...............33rd sacks = 36 in 11 games sack % = 9.9................32nd rating = 70.5%..............32nd QBR = 35.71................31st 4th qtr combacks = 0.......33rd game winning drives = 0...35th
In 2011, the Packers backup QB, Matt Flynn had his best season, passed for 480 yds and 6 TDs in the Packers last game of the season.
The following year Flynn signed with the Seahawks and was brought in to compete for the starting QB spot against Travis Jackson and some kid named Russell Wilson.
To make a long story short, Flynn, the hottest backup QB in 2011 season was unable to win the starting job and only spent one year with the Seahawks.
Flynn continues to be a backup QB, bumping around to 4 different teams since leaving the Packers after the 2011 season.
Derek Anderson..Browns fans know what kind of starter he was while with the Browns. Last season, as a backup QB for the Panthers, he had his best year, winning both of his starts, throwing 5 TDs and 0 ints.
Does Anderson's performance last season as a backup QB mean Anderson should be ready to start this season?
Some QBs are more comfortable being a backup QB rather than being a starting QB.
Does McCown's performance 2 seasons ago, as a backup QB for the Bears automatically qualify him to be a starting QB?
Looking at McCown's performance as the Bucs starting QB last season, I would have to say NO...a good backup does not translate into a good starting QB.
McCown was the worst starting QB in the NFL last season. I hope he can be a decent QB for the Browns, but I'm not about to ignore his performance last season and for his performance over the last 12 seasons.
...I can't ignore the facts.
Browns fans could be calling for Manziel by the 3rd game of the season.

And this is where you and I part company so to speak.
Actually Hoyer parted company and I've talked way too much and don't wish to be Redundant. I said what I said. I saw what I saw. He had a good environment. I don't buy the MACK changed the team soooo much that Hoyer failed. Cause I am not going on the stats. I'm going on Football. So I'm moving on with the Hoyer discussions. I would hope you would also cause he isn't coming back.

Where are you getting this crap of Tampa Bay running a Spread offense w/McCown and providing Glennon w/maximumm protection? Yeah my stuff is Crap and your garbage is heaven...lol Love the way that works. Treat people the way you would want to be treated and you wouldn't cry foul so much.
The info I got on McCown in Tampa was from an article earlier in the off season comparing the differences from Chicago McCown and Tampa McCown.
Glennon...could possibly be wrong but I vaguely remember watching some of his games. People forget I thought he was one of the best QBs in his Draft Class. 2013??? So I tried to watch him here and there. I thought they went with a different formation...but I could be wrong...it looked tighter. My concentration was on McCown in this. If you say he had the same exact formations and Defenses were not playing the run more since the Back up came in...then I will believe you if that is what you saw.
It doesn't really change my analysis of McCown in Tampa.I am seeing is that our line is going to always keep him clean.Show me one spot where I have claimed "Going to ALWAYS keep him clean" I don't like my opinions being changed to benefit the poster who wishes to debate or discuss the opposite.
2 Variables. Facts true, although the As much time is very subjectable. But for the whole still had pocket integrity after Mack went down. He had time...if you say differently...You should go take a look back at the time. All the time clean...no but enough for him to do well and succeed which he did not.
Huh...guys not getting open. Wait you did say getting open as Quickly. Wow Vers that is about as subjective as you can get. I can say that wherever I want on any play...Wait HE'S OPEN...but not as Quick as before...lol really?
I say this once more. He had time. He had teams playing the run so that there was 8-9 in the box. He open WRs - There was ONE GAME I remember where the WRs did have the dropsies. One.
McCown - Notorious for holding onto the ball. What does that mean exactly that he is that way all the time. My question again is - Did he hold onto the ball too long in Chicago? If so then what was different that there were good results? If he didn't do it then maybe its not this INCURABLE disease that you are claiming.
Again I never said he won't "Ever" have pressure. But if it is the exception and not the rule he will handle it differently almost all QBs do.
I have never claimed for him to all of a sudden become this great QB. Just claiming that most who talk about him in the negative will be surprised at the results. Cause he does happen to be very accurate when given the correct environment. I do think with teams who probably are going to play against the run like they did last season...McCown is more accurate than Hoyer. That all I'm claiming. I have no crystal ball on wins or what will happen. Just what I have seen as a POSSIBLE POSITIVE for us. I know that is wrong to do.
Last but not least.
I'm not getting mad at Pit...I don't like poster saying that I AM SAYING THIS and that was far from what I was saying so they can discredit my opinion... Not my stance in this.
I haven't gotten mad at BTTB actually I've bantering about with him in a friendly tit for tat.
Mac...I was sweet as can be. Just stating my opinion...Sorry Vers I'd be more cognizant of how you post to posters - for the most part you have been kinder and gentler but you do slip back into the Angry elf every now and then. How do you get Angry at Mac...I'm just discussing my position. Where do you see anger in my typing. I was angry at Pit for making up my position.
Anyways. I'd like to know the good about Chicago and is it possible to duplicate it here. I already know almost all the bad from McCown is not the same environment he will experience here. So why should I expect the exact or near to results?
And lets get one thing straight. I have never ever said McCown is the either the Answer here or has the potential to be great. He could do good things here if the environment is good.

My evaluation and I gave up on Hoyer had nothing to do with his record. What he showed me was the sum of his 7 years in the NFL and I didn't like the prospects to continue with "ALMOST" in my fandom. And I'm looking at the sum of 12 years. It's really no different only I'm looking at a five year longer career than you are. and no Tab, it wasn't the "2013 season". It was "five games in the 2013 season". You're basing your opinion on five games. Now if you think that makes you look foolish, don't blame me for that. Hoyer had worse games after his first 5 starts with both Mack and Cameron gone so you gave up on him. When McCown had a lesser talented OL in Tampa Bay, you ignore that and try to bolster his possibilities. That's not too far off.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

J/C ... I am not saying that it is going to happen ..... just that it is a possibility.
I remember a Super Bowl, several uyears ago, where the 2 QBs were Brad Johnson and Rich Gannon.
Prior to going to Oakland, Gannon had been in the league for, IIRC, 11 years. He was the very definition of journeyman. He had thrown for a high of 2300 yards, and he had exactly one season where he threw 16 TD .... and he also threw 16 INT. To that point in his career he had 66 TD passes and 54 INT. He was hardly the ideal candidate to be a starting QB.
He then went on to throw 24, 28, 27, and 26 TD on the next 4 seasons. He threw for 3800, 3400, 3800, and 4700 yards.
He found the right "fit".
His opponent in the Super Bowl was Brad Johnson. Johnson was also a journeyman QB. He was somewhat more highly thought of, and in 5 years in Minnesota had 44 TD and 29 INT. His high in yards was just over 3000.
He then went to Washington, and was very average. 35 TD and 28 INT in 2 seasons.
He then went to Tampa. His 8th season in the NFL looked a lot like his prior seasons, with 13 TD and 11 INT, and no ral reason for hope.
Then, in 2002, he put things together and gave the Bucs 22 TD and 6 INT. (and a Super Bowl win) The following year he threw 26 TD and 22 INT. Sometimes you only get a year out of a guy, and sometiems you lose other pieces that really helped the QB.
Howver, both of these teams made the Super Bowkl with rather nondescript QB choices, because the QB fir into their team, and scheme.
I admit that I was not crazy about the choice of McCown, but maybe the coaches see something that allows him to be a better fit than Hoyer. Hopefully that will be the case.

Yes we can all point out exceptions to the rule and pray. Well .... that is what we have at this point.

Same old tab. The master of double speak. Here is an excerpt from an article about Tampa Bay's season. Josh McCown Experiment Failed Miserably
When they signed him to a two-year, $10 million free-agent deal this offseason and immediately named the starter, Josh McCown was billed as a savvy veteran who would take care of the ball, make smart decisions and safely manage games alongside a hopefully stingy defense.
Instead, McCown's 2014 season will be remembered for his Favre-esque attempts to make plays where there were none, back-breaking turnovers and a penchant for standing in the pocket far too long and taking too many costly sacks.
McCown made 11 starts this season, finishing with 14 interceptions to just 11 touchdowns, a 56.3 completion percentage, 10 fumbles—though he managed to only lose four of them—and a quarterback rating of 70.3.
Mike Glennon started Tampa Bay's other five games due to a McCown thumb injury, but the veteran returned once healthy to give the Bucs much of the same underwhelming play he showed early in the season.
It remains to be seen what the future of the quarterback position will look like in Tampa Bay, but if it includes any more starts from McCown, you'll be hard-pressed to find many Bucs fans who will be happy about it.

1- ok im sure everyone will agree that josh is not a good or even average qb BUT He is a Browns QB so what is wrong for browns fans to HOPE he does ok this year ?
2- Why is Hoyer even being talked about in a McCown thread ? He isnt even on the team anymore whether people think he should be or not.
3- Why does every thread have to turn into a pissin match over the same ol shitz whether it has any relevance to the thread or not?
4- This used to be a great board to read good articles and debates about the BROWNS Now its just the same ol same ol in every thread with all of them having the same BS arguments no matter the original subject. No wonder most of the good posters rarely join in anymore since every thread gets hijacked into a pissin contest.
5- Dont bother telling me if i dont like it that i dont have to read it because i wont take the bait and argue about it..
Its just a shame that the best BROWNS board has sank this low
Ok im done with my rant and sorry it wasnt really on the thread topic As far as the topic I hope he does well since it sounds as if he will be our starter unless somehow Manziel somehow beats him out in training camp and preseason
