Browns should sign Joseph Fauria(TE), who was released by the Lions. They should also sign Zach Zenner(RB), if the Lions cut him also.

Thinking a moderator could either delete this thread, or combine it with the "cuts" one. They're the same thing with same discussions.

Thanks!

Why? We are a Browns site, and it's perfectly appropriate to have a thread on NFL cuts, and one on Browns specific cuts.

The rule used to be no more than 2-3 threads on similar subjects on the 1st page of the forum. I still think that's appropriate.

Discussion(s) on Browns players being cut is also in the other thread. That's the only reason I suggested it, consolidate the two so people aren't seeing the same info x2. Either or, though...

I like it this way. I don't care about other teams cuts. Unless some jaw dropping cut is made, I doubt we play at this point.

I'm kinda surprised they didn't cut him. Must be something there to hang on to him.

Maybe they just thought he needed more time to recover ... he looked bad, but I guess it doesn't hurt to keep him (it's not my money)

the only good thing is 31 other teams say the same thing. OL depth around the league is bottom of the barrell ... look at TB ... Gilkey STARTS for them haha

I like Darrian Miller, he has played well this preseason. He is better at tackle than Erving. I would keep Miller and Erving and that would be all the OL I would carry may slip another one onto the practice squad.

Thanks so now its down to 4 more cuts after the IR stuff.

Shoulder is one of the worst injuries for an OT especially if its a right shoulder and he is right Tackle. NO idea which shoulder. Bowie

I know they had Miller as one of the camps surprises...hopefully he makes it? Will we keep 7 or 8 OL usually 8 is the norm for minimal on a roster.

The next cuts of 22 is going to be tough!

very difficult cuts ... not these 4, but the following ones

Quick question, let's assume that Pat Devlin plays Thursday at Chicago (basically to eat up throws so Johnny doesn't have to play) ... but then we just cut him on Sunday, what was his compensation? Does he just get paid for his week on the team?

You don't get paid unless you make the team. No doubt we pay his expenses to and from home, but he is playing for a chance...I am sure we probably added a little bonus money....I mean a little, like a couple thousand.

Peen...this is America, nobody works for free.

They get a standard weekly salary for training camp and preseason. Once they make cuts they would have to sign the rookie minimum or if the are a 2nd or more year player whatever that contract is. These are not TRYOUTS...they are part of the 90 roster and they get paid. There are UDFA's that we signed with bonuses. Then there are tryout players that just make a Training Camp Roster minimum whatever that is. I'm sure they have some sort of health coverage also.

jmho...pretty sure not 100% though

Mourg, I've been as big of a Miller supporter as there has been on this board (heck, I mocked him to the Browns with our 6b pick) but in the last game he showed that he's a left tackle only. He got beat up at RT and the coaches basically said he couldn't play guard. It's fine to be a LT only if you're a starter, but hard to justify as a backup when you can only play one position. He's our best backup option at LT, but little else. I'm not confident he'll make the team anymore.

Kitchen's most valuable asset was that he was big. He was never actually good. Now that we have big people who are actually good, he doesn't have a spot on the team.

... And this is exactly why I'd have been totally okay with 'trying' to trade Phil, or even really just cutting him, and keeping Kitchen.

I like Phil, but I gotta put that aside and face facts, he's never been reliable health wise. Never and there's no reason to believe otherwise.

I think this is one of the biggest adjustments Browns fans will have to make going forward.

I can remember how folks (myself included) reacted when we'd release/trade away guys like Leigh Bodden and DQ- average players who were "standouts" because the rest of the team was so awful.

It's telling that guys like Kitchen are now becoming expendable. Slow roster build-up (under the radar), and now we can afford to let this caliber of player go.

"Invisible" progress.... but progress, nonetheless.

About 15 games IIRC ... just like Anthony Henry

I never considered Kitchen as a good player just a rare big body. He was 4th in line of the big bodies. and we got a lot of the 300 lb DL that can move well for big men.. Hughes is going to fight for some playing time.

I always viewed Kitchen as the caliber of player that you pick up off the couch mid season and play. I think it is all the 3/4 defenses needing a NT that will keep him in the NFL.
