http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/133138...speak-inductionPolicy for posthumous inductions traditionally always was just a video. They want to celebrate the playing life, and not talk about death or other issues that impacted the person. Should the family be allowed to speak if they so do request?

Yes. But if you're looking at it from a business standpoint, no. He committed suicide, quite possibly because of injuries sustained from his NFL career. No telling what a family member would say in such a scenario. If you have a heart, the answer is yes. If you're the NFL, absolutely not.

Just my first reaction - but if that's the policy, that's the policy. Period.

If I recall correctly HOF is aired live on television?
They already have a policy for this in place and aren't making some exception. Not just because of Seau's families legitimate grievances but in general non-professionals can't be trusted on live television.

I don't like this, but I get it. In the middle of a lawsuit, no organization is really ever going to offer up a massive platform for the other party to potentially trash them and risk a sway in public opinion on something like this.

I'm a little lost on the logic of inducting him while a civil suit is on-going. Why not just wait until it's decided and nerves aren't quite so raw.

The HOF and NFL are completely different entities. That probably plays a huge role into it.

No telling what a family member would say in such a scenario. JH also supportive of the Commish's lawyers gagging those who would speak what might be the truth...

Let them talk. Have whoever is speaking sign some sort of document saying they will not defame or blame the NFL for his death.

In the end, I doubt it matters much. If the family wants to speak, but there will be plenty of outlets out there that will air them speaking their minds..
