Grossi is also in love with Shaw. He wanted Manziel to start so bad last year, then turned on him when it was popular to do so. But he loves him some Shaw.
I'm pretty sure I can throw the ball harder, faster, farther than Shaw.

I think you are missing the fact he is not on our 53 all year (right?) wasn't he placed on the IR? I don't get your beef here???

I think Shaw is very smart, isn't he? Maybe they like surrounding Johnny with as many positive influences as possible

I'm just saying I don't understand why he's here at all. If brains, work ethic, small stature and a weak arm were the qualities you looked for in a QB, my daughter could play for the Browns.

j/c... Looks like Carey Spear is out and Travis Coons is the guy...for now. Wasn't Coons the one who couldn't reach the end zone on a kickoff? Travis Coons, a University of Washington product signed by the Browns on Dec. 30, has apparently won the kicking job over Carey Spear. Spear, a Vanderbilt graduate, was born in Mayfield Heights, Ohio and grew up in Highland Heights, Ohio. He was among those not at practice as the Browns made cuts to reach the roster limit of 75 by 4 p.m. Tuesday. Coons went 1 for 1 on field goals, hitting a 41-yarder, and 3 for 3 on PATs through the first three preseason games. Spear was 2 of 2 on field goals, connecting from 47 and 36 yards, and 4 for 4 on extra points.Link

Coons must've been the leader in camp. Just read he has the stronger leg.

Whoa. You'd think he'd have some trade value.....and why did they get rid of Kitchen knowing Phil was leaving? We went from 3 NT's to one rookie.

I like Pettine's take at least. He wasn't one of the best 53, regardless of dollars owed.

I hope Mayle and Pryor are playing the next game like it is their last because they may be fighting for the last spot on this squad. Not a surprise Taylor is gone. Spent too much time on the IR. I like Phil and I am sure somebody will pick him up. Surprised Pryor isn't gone yet, considering he has hardly practiced and hasn't played a game.

From Pro Football Talk:
"Per a league source, Taylor asked to be released, and teams already are lining up for a shot at the player who made his first game appearance over the weekend after aggravating a knee injury in early November."

I'd prefer that to him taking the roster spot from someone else. So far, Mayle is a project. See if he can come back next year a better player.

Cutting taylor was a really dumb decision imo. I noticed during the Bucs game when him and shelton were on the line at the same time they couldn't run for the life of them. We cut kitchen so what happens if....or I should say when shelton gets hurt. This is cleveland its almost garunteed. I just don't understand this move

Our d-line is strong and deep. Our Lb corp is fair with no depth. Just makes sense. And for the 1st time in a long time I believe we have a HC that does actually have some common sense.

Case Keenum will be the Rams' No. 2 quarterback. Keenum has beaten out Austin Davis for the right to back up Nick Foles. With the Rams using (wasting?) a third-round pick on Sean Mannion, Davis will probably be waived. Keenum has some raw playmaking ability, but is prone to streaks of wildness/total ineffectiveness. He's a second-tier backup. Source: Nick Wagoner on Twitter http://www.rotoworld.com/playernews/nfl/footballAustin Davis is a kid from a small school who got some field time last year and actually did okay. Per http://www.nfl.com/player/austindavis/2533349/profileHe started 8 games completed 63.4% of his passes and had 12 TD /9 int Not bad playing behind a putrid Rams oline. I saw some of those games. He looked very calm and collected for the most part and seemed to be smart. He definitely has some development to do though but seems like a hard worker. Biggest downside I can come up with is just an average NFL arm. I would give him a look see. Definitely better than Pat Devlin. Personally, I think better than Lewis and Manziel. Right now probably about as good as McCown but he has a chance to develop and get better whereas McCown has reached his full potential.

Spear would hit line drives into the endzone - Coons had some height on his.

I honestly think Richardson must have been juicing in college. There is now way you go from being that dominant to being that putrid just from playing with broken ribs.
My theory with richardson is that IF and a BIG IF he was to play good you would have to play him behind a FB with good vision that he trusts to follow. That what he did in college and for a good bit his first year with us.

Then hopefully the plan is to release him once he is healthy. He's fine as a third QB you can keep on the practice squad. My bet is that he would only ever play in a short-term pinch.

Looks like we made a good move with T. Rich even though at the time no one thought it was.Kinda sad,I was hoping he would pan out when we drafted him. Some part of this has to be mental with the guy. He showed a lot of flashes his rookie year. Rish...good point that many never consider...what did the trade do to Richardson, mentally?
Many of our fans never consider that angle..what a trade can do to a person's confidence. After running and receiving for over 1300 yds his rookie year, being traded was likely the furthest thing from TR's mind.
Being traded likely blind sided him, hitting him like a ton of bricks. We can only guess what effect the trade had on TR, emotionally...did he withdraw, become depressed, turn to drinking?..we just don't know.
One fact that cannot be denied, the Browns did not screw over the Colts. The Colts got a 1300 yd RB (as a rookie, running and receiving), who scored 11 TDs rushing and 1 passing, a very productive back for the Browns.
...I'm sure the Colts question, what happened to that RB who had over 1300 yds from scrimmage in 2012?
Mac, even his first year he had, what...3.6 yards per carry? What was Hardesty's YPC that year? I would think those who were traded would get a chip on their shoulder and want to prove the original team wrong. The guy missed blatant open holes and never really seemed to have that "burst" out of the backfield. I think he's just a bust. Plain and simple. Nothing against the guy personally...he just didn't work out. You are the ONLY person who even challenged such ludicrous statements. That tells me a lot!!!! If Bone says Hoyer is better than McCown, a bunch of guys rip him. If play says Farmer made a mistake by drafting Gilbert, he is ripped unmercifully. If I say that we should have taken Teddy over Johnny, y'all start crying. But mac makes a negative statement about Banner and no one else says a word. Yeah, you guys are objective. I wanna look at this post again. Poor, poor TRich didn't do well because the poor little baby was traded. Am I supposed to believe that nonsense? Good God!!! Then, mac says: One fact that cannot be denied, the Browns did not screw over the Colts. The Colts got a 1300 yd RB (as a rookie, running and receiving), who scored 11 TDs rushing and 1 passing, a very productive back for the Browns. Fact? Really? No one but 05 challenges it? <<sigh>> TRich has been released by two RB-needy teams in less than a year. We got a first round pick for that bum. And it is a freaking FACT that we did not screw over the Colts? As 05 said, TRich missed a ton of holes in his rookie year. He averaged 3.5 yds. a carry and the other backs ALL looked better. Banner fleeced the Colts. But y'all hate that guy and loved H and H. Weird.

I said I was hoping we would bring in Fred Jackson. I can see why we didn't. After all, Seattle has a worse team and their RBs are not as good as ours.

Our scouting department and GM's have all completely sucked since 99. The jury is still out on Farmer.
I think the argument of who sucked the worse and by what margin is pointless. They all sucked.

I'm sorry for going off. It's just frustrating to see the double standards on here sometimes.
And I admit I am sometimes guilty of lumping everyone together.
I apologize.
With that said, I still say mac's comment was ludicrous and it is kinda crazy how it wasn't challenged.
