So i won (another) NC with Utah, am in the final year of my contract.. should be interesting..

Started the season #8 (I was annoyed) and played #6 Baylor in the Texas Kickoff Classic (sidenote: I never knew you could set neutral site locations when you set your schedule)

Baylor was up 35-34 at the half..

I won 73-42. My defense shut them down after they put up 28 in the first quarter..

I fear for what I will do to Utah State next week..

Star Wars battlefront thoughts.

Pros:
1. Graphics are amazing
2. Awesome to be in the star wars universe again
3. Match queues have been fast, servers stable. Part of me expected a simcity type repeat when it game to getting connected.

Cons:
1. Leveling and currency. I don't care this in FPS. Have to level up to unlock certain things, but also need currency to buy said item. This makes it suck for new players as they just get destroyed.

2. No control points like in previous battlefronts. Battles are a giant cluster, with no real battle lines. Just a huge mess of people shooting at you from all directions.

3. Random spawn points. throws you pretty much anywhere on the map. I guess it eliminates spawn camping, but lost count of how many times I respawned in an area the enemy was pushing into.

4. No classes.

Other thoughts:
No vehicle spawn points. Power up items spawn on the map and you have to grab those to be able to use a vehicle.

Beta has 3 maps. 2 multiplayer and one single player/co-op map. MP is 20v20 and 8v8. 20v20 is the Hoth map, it is fun, but getting blown up repeatedly by AT-ST and such gets old. The 8v8 has no vehicles, straight up FPS type combat.

Like I said above, no control point, no battle lines makes the game a little less interesting for me, not sure if other maps/game types would have something like this. Granted, I was playing solo. Getting a group of friends on voice chat would probably be more fun.

Overall, it is fun. Though, I'm not sure if it's $60 worth of fun. I'm on the fence about buying it. I'm inclined to wait and get it a cheaper price. At the same time, once the initial rush wears off, how many people would still be playing by the time I see a price drop. Additionally, I don't need to play online. I had plenty of fun playing battlefront 2 with AI players well after the MP fun wore off. If that kind of mode is there, I'll pick this up eventually.

Timing is kind of bad, with fallout 4 release just a week prior, I may pass for now because if I buy it, I might not have time to play it.

Battlefront is fun. I'm a little peeved over no single player, but I like the frantic pace of the multiplayer. The upgrade system doesn't bother me. It reminds me of splatoon.

No, in game currency. I didn't figure out the actual math, but after each match you earn currency that is roughly equal to 10-15% of the points you earned in that match. Then use that to unlock new weapons. Even though you may be at the level needed to unlock a new weapon, you can't unlock if you don't have enough credits.

Oh okay, IMO - I am okay with that.

I am holding off on until November when my PS4 preorder for it ships!

I beat Mad Max. I liked it. I would give it about a 7/10, and that's likely cause I like the Mad Max movie series.

Hey so if anybody is aware, the new Rainbow Six joint is dropping in December.

Looking for a partner for tournaments.

Civilization: Beyond Earth released an expansion. Still in my first game with it. Two main things:
1. Cities that can be developed on water tiles. Makes the oceans an interesting place now.

2. New diplomacy. They have Capital that you can earn every turn now(like science or culture) and you use that to make deals with other factions.

I LOVE the Rainbow Six games, I think it's the best shooter franchise. I don't play enough to participate in tournaments, though, and never use my headsets. Which console are you planning on getting it for? I haven't decided between PS4 or Xbone yet.

My kids absolutely loved the old Battlefront and I am going to get a PS4 as an upgrade over our 360. We've been XBOX users for years so this should be interesting and the game selections seem to be better on the Sony side.

Is there really no single player at all in battlefront? How does that work when 1 kids plays and can they play split screen head to head like the old console?

There will be some single player and co-op missions(like the special ops things in modern warfare 2). How many, I'm not sure. The beta had 2 multiplayer maps and 1 single/co-op available. The single player one was fighting off waves of bad guys while waiting to be rescued.

I'm just curious and not saying you're right or wrong, it's just an ever-ending debate between Sony and Microsoft people but... how do you view going to a PS4 from the Xbox as an upgrade?

I always love hearing the debate, it should be interesting hearing this from someone jumping the Microsoft ship! PS, I am a Sony person, have always been and will always be!

... as for Battlefront, I've already received the three, three month PSN+ subscriptions from Dell that I ordered so when my Battlefront arrives, I'm ready to get online and start whipping and dipping! First time buying a PSN+ subscription ever.

More than anything, system choice comes down to exclusives. There are some other things that you may like or dislike with each system, but it's about the games.

I was at my buddy's place in Cleveland over last weekend and he was playing the Witcher on the XB1. Awesome game.

The old star wars battlefront games were a load of fun too. I need to go out and get a cheap ps2 so I can play those again. Xmen legends was awesome too. I wish they would reboot that set of games...

Actually - you make a good point - we are HOPING that PS4 will be an upgrade...I've always liked the Xbox controllers and games...Gold costs are one annoying item where we used to have a family plan...now we have to have a separate account for each person - and I know if I upgrade to a One it goes back to that. Since the One will be the first BluRay systems for Xbox, I think Sony will be more reliable (a good Blue Ray cuts down on having more devices under a TV). I also hope that the overall game variety will be better on Sony -Xbox games seem to be all shooters and sports...would like a little more variety. Finally, from what I have read, the graphics are better no the Sony.

It may be nothing more than we are tired of Xbox...we have slowly moved over to the Apple ecosystem over the past few years so maybe we just are ready for something different.

How about the online gaming community? Is it really free? We use Pandora and Netflicks and Amazon Prime and YouTube type aps so are they all on the Sony? Is this stuff easily accessible? Is it easy to download digital content like game add-ons?

PSN, to play games online, isn't free. The community ain't bad, and lots of services are available without any additional charge.

I own a Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PS4. The PS4 is a major step up from the 360, but is almost on an even playing field as the Xbox One. PS4 vs. 360, though, is not even close. Graphics are better, installing games is quicker, frame rates seem to better on almost all of the games, and there are plenty of apps available on the PS4, (YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, etc.). Everything on the PS4 simply feels smoother, if that makes sense.

Xbox One vs. PS4 is a much closer race. Owning both platforms proves (at least, it should) I'm not a homer for either, but I prefer the Xbox for a few reasons. The menus are laid out a lot more clearly than the PS4, things are much easier to find. The main reason I prefer the Xbox One to the PS4 is the controller. I have fairly large/strong hands and always feel like I'm going to break my PS4 controller. When I've played racing games and hit the brake hard, I hear the controller creaking from the pressure of my hand. I never have that issue with the Xbone controller. Plus, the PS4 controller is smaller, so I feel like my hands are abnormally gigantic, it doesn't feel natural. In terms of performance, I know a lot of experts say the PS4 is better. But, from my time with both, I can't tell a difference with the naked eye. A game on the PS4 will look the same as it does on the Xbone for the most part.

Xbox One also has the added multi-entertainment aspect with being able to browse the Internet, watch TV, and listen to Pandora or iHeart Radio all while playing your game. Being able to seamlessly switch between watching TV and playing your game or putting them side-by-side with each other is definitely useful and something I really wish the PS4 also had.

The selection of games is another point to take into consideration when buying a system. PS4 has the exclusive rights to franchises like Gran Turismo, MLB The Show, God of War, and Uncharted. Xbone has franchises like Halo, Forza, and Gears of War. In terms of online play, again, it's almost identical for me.

I love both systems and don't think you can go wrong with either, honestly. I still even play my 360 from time to time. It's certainly a good time to be a gamer.

When I put this out there before, nobody got back to me.

Is anyone playing Destiny? The game was getting a little tired, and then they released an expansion for $60, which I was kind of peeved about.

This expansion is awesome. There is a ton of content, lots of things to do that makes it much less repetitive. Bungie really nailed it.

I play on XB1 under the gamertag SirDiesAlot

I've been playing Insurgency and Planetside 2 lately.

Insurgency is, quite simply, tactical crack. Best FPS I've played...since Medal of Honor? perhaps ever?? They just released a big update for it with lots of new weapons, maps, etc.... VERY addictive game.

Planetside 2 is FREE, and it is a gigantic FPS MMO game that takes place on the continental level. All sorts of different classes, abilities, vehicles, weapons, etc... lots of fun.

I don't play first person games.

I'm taking a gaming break until Battlefront. I figure when Battlefront starts to dull a little bit, I'll pickup the new Assassins Creed on Craigslist/Ebay on the cheapy cheap.

Bought Project Zomboid on Steam today. They have a sale on some horror type games.

It's a top down game kinda like the Sims or Diablo...

You just have to see how long you can stay alive. You can loot houses and board up windows, and fight zombies with kitchenware... lol

For eleven bucks, it was worth it. Plus the game is not totally finished so they add stuff here and there.

I've played off and on for years. Got this latest expansion a year ago, played it about a month and was pretty much done with it. I guess my problem with it is that you spend all this time to get "decent" items and the second you finally get yourself geared up to be pretty good, they'll release an update or expansion and everything you have is no-good anymore. It's not a big deal the first couple times, but it wears thin after awhile.

yea i run the 2nd group raid team on my guild, and then i'm the main raid lead for RBG's and run the arena teams.

we do a lot of pvp, but dragon slay(raid) a bit. its rough gearing up for PVE, but if you got a solid squad, you can get some serious progression before the next patch drops.

I saw some gameplay footage floating around Reddit today.

Looks awesome of course. But man, any time I see any kind of Fallout gameplay, I feel the need to play. I found a copy of New Vegas for ps3 on sale a while back for 12 bucks but have not really gotten around to play it. I loved Fallout 3 though. I was addicted to it for a month straight.

Usually games like that look and just move/feel so stupid in third person view, it's not worth buying. Like Skyrim and etc.

I saw some gameplay footage where you can. I totally agree with LB that it's not needed though. The Fallout games are so great looking in FP...

I need to stop watching these gameplay videos or I will end up buying a ps4, lol.

Yesterday I spent some time watching some of the recent videos of the Battlefront game (since I didn't get a chance to partake in the beta) - and wow... the graphics and everything just looks incredibly sick.

I may be going off the grid when this game comes out lol...

Yeah I played the Beta, the graphics and sound were spot on, the soundtrack was pretty awesome as well.

Hoping Origin will have it 50% off on Black Friday like they did BF4 shortly after it released. he he.

Patiently waiting for Battlefront to arrive. I heard people are ripping on it, indicating it gets boring quick and the content is low. I hope this isn't true and EA is looking to money grab even more by offering a basic shell of a game and forcing people to purchase DLC to get anything outta it.

Ugh!
