Either way it seems like Terrance West has a good chance of getting more yards today for the Titans than the Browns RB's had today...

I just think what we saw today was a product of the camp Pettine ran and his personality. The team takes on the personality of its leader and Pettine strikes me as a "check the box" guy. Did we get a, b, and c accomplished? Check, check, and check.

But is there any passion in what we do? How does he motivate guys? I saw a team that played like they didn't care if they won or lost today. Throw any and all individual performances out the window. This was the worst part of the day - the playing with nonchalance. We did neither of the two things we said we were going to do - run the ball and stop the run.

So you had a INT that you gave right back. So what. Do something about it. Show some passion and pride. Show some competitive fire. Damn.

because they looked like they didn't care and were just going through the motions.

For as bad as we looked, we looked just as bad back in game 1 of the 2007 season.

In that game, Charlie Frye was sacked, what, 5 times in less than a half? We had 5 turnovers in that game as well. We could not run the ball, going for 46 yards on 16 carries.

I am not saying that we are on the way to a 10 win season. (I said 9 wins, not 10) wink However, it is possible for a team to look like regurgitated dog poop (yeah, that is intentionally revolting sounding) in one game, then turn it around from there.

I agree with you... there is a LOT of knee jerk reactions going on around the league... Bills think they are going to the super bowl, Colts think they are a 4 win team, Seattle is imploding...

Hopefully we can be more focused and have more energy next week and actually do some things well... I fear the edge is going to collapse with all of these people standing on it.

I agree. Sure I've been critical of the performance in this game. I also only predicted 6 wins for the season as my most optimistic case scenario.

But week 1 is just one game out of 16. I would think people may wish to look at it in that respect.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

What's going to suck is watching Tennessee, with West, continue where the Jets left off... torching our defense via the run game.

West likely have a 100 yards and we'll have a total of 50 yards running, 35 of those yards will come from our qb(s).

Exactly GM. Someone has to give a damn. And the person or persons who actually give a damn have to get others to give a damn.

Does Pettine even open his mouth on the sidelines?

I think this game is setting up well for the Browns.

We got killed by the Jets. The Titans rolled all over Tampa Bay.

Resolve by one team [us] and the other team is too young and inexperienced to handle success well.

I say we beat them.

Tampa Bay is really, really bad. They also run a horrible defensive scheme to go against to the read option.

We play a ton of man, that should help us against Mariota.

Cutting him should have nothing to do with us a getting a pick. The pick was compensation to send him over there. Unless there is some funky playing or roster stipulations in the deal (which would be stupid) we still get the pick.

Titans cut Terrance West and Browns won't get 7th-round pick

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Titans cut former Browns running back Terrance West Saturday and don't owe the Browns the conditional seventh-round draft pick from the trade in September.

The Browns traded West, their 2014 third-round pick out of Towson, to the Titans for the conditional 2016 pick, which hinged on playing time.

But West hasn't played since a 28-14 loss to the Browns in week two, a game in which he fumbled the ball away on his first carry to set up the Browns' second touchdown. It was his second lost fumble in as many games, having coughed one up the week before agains the Bucs

In Cleveland, West was stripped by Craig Robertson after a four-yard run in the first quarter, and Joe Haden recovered at midfield. Seven plays later, Isaiah Crowell galloped in from the 11 to increase the Browns' lead to 14-0 with 6:26 left in the quarter.

West touched the ball only two more times that game, totaling 10 yards on three carries. The 4 yard gain before the fumble was his longest of the game.

Not only was he mostly benched for the game after that miscue, he was benched for the season.

West hasn't played at all since that trip back to FirstEnergy Stadium, and was let go by the team on Saturday.

In two games for the Titans, he carried the ball 16 times for 51 yards with the two lost fumbles.

It's been a precipitous fall for a player who led the Browns with 171 carries and 673 yards a rookie. But the Browns grew weary of West's immaturity, and shipped him south for the late-round pick.

Now they don't even have that for a player they traded up for in 2014, sending their fourth- and sixth-round picks to San Francisco to move up to No. 94 in the third round.

Correct. Nada, zip,zero...nothing. If a 3rd rounder can be deemed a true "bust", then West was a "bust". Ouch...

Of all of Ray's picks, this might be the worst. Not the most damaging to the franchise, but the one that best illustrates his ineptitude. He traded up in order to secure a guy from Towson State, who I would bet was on nobody else's radar. At least the first-round busts were legitimate players in mock drafts. This guy was a nobody, whose college film looked like grainy high school film from 1985, it was so bush league. And the guy had maturity issues that should have been spotted in an interview. We actually used multiple picks to get him.
Well, we can have him back for nothing now. Geez, Farmer is so bad.

The really odd thing about this, he actually looked ok last year. Clearly, Crowell was better in a lot of ways, but he wasn't horrible.

What in the hell happened

Small school I'm a great player/stud that doesn't have to work hard...basically every RB small or big school if they don't work hard they will not get better. LT...worked hard on every aspect of his game...William Green refused to work hard and improve.

West could get over the BMOCampus syndrome he thought his appearance would have him breaking records in the NFL like his small college.

Also question...have we had any success with ANY RB since 99 that we Traded up to get...I mean REALLY I don't ever want us to trade up and get an RB again!!!

Agreed. I would also say that TRich started out "working" as it will. A rib injury happened. His agent fed a lot into his head about the injury. It went to TRich's head. He used it as an excuse. Shying from contact and not working on his craft in practice became a habit. The injury went away, his stunted and undeveloped skills stayed.

What changed?

We switched from a option zone run blocking scheme to a traditional man blocking scheme. Everyone looks worse. Rookie coordinators are grrrrrreat!

I did state the position RB in there. No reason to trade up for RB and no reason to always swing for the fences to go reach for a kid that looks pro bowl material but there is this or that factor dropping him.

No OL Graveyard from our Drafts. As for Offense - you get a franchise QB it would be amazing how much better other investments get...especially if you have the OL here.

We switched to an In Line Block scheme...when did that happen. Actually I wish we would its much more easier. So many teams almost all have gone ZBS that Defenses are better at it...and we are not a seasoned UNIT to be the best at it.

Unless he's an obvious freak like AP or Gurley. I'd be happy if they traded up to get a guy like one of them, a once-every-decade type of talent.
