I think there are 2 or 3 reasons for that:

--Our o-linemen are more finesse than power. They excel at pass blocking, but have a harder time moving guys.

--We don't have WRs or TEs that scare opposing defenses and teams can really concentrate on stopping what our offense wants to do.

--We don't have a qb who can make them pay for sending safeties up to stuff the run.

I would guess that our line plays much better in the upcoming games. It won't matter because the rest of our offense sucks, but they'll play better. The Jets have a very, very good defense.

jets do have a good d ... but tennessee doesn't have a poor one, nor does oakland w/mack who gave us fits last year

I wish we could have made the trade. While I'm don't think McCown is as bad as some on here think I would have liked to had Fitzpatrick. I remember watching him when he was with the Bengals, early in his career, and thought he showed some potential to at least be a very good back up.

Fitzpatrick is beyond awful.

Even awful QBs play good against the Browns.

than that makes letting shanny walk extra stupid.

we can't call ourselves a run first team, then use a scheme that doesn't suit our OL.

and even still, we got an OL who can't move anybody without a special snowflake scheme?

power run team with non power OL...awesome.

The only QB that was out there that could have changed us from what we are now to something significantly better was Jay Cutler. And Jay Cutler is a horrible option.

Good QBs are almost never available.

Aint that the truth. And whoever that guy who was complaining. The DE for Seattle. That's why DE's don't get compensated like QBs. Because winning without one is so much harder

I thought the protection was pretty good. The run game was not so good. I thought we would come out the gates with a solid ground game. Now from our angle it seem that Crowell left a lot on the field. To me, there were cutback lanes open all day; but he failed to see them. Makes me hate the West trade all the more!

The flying spinning fumble didn't surprise me. McCown was actually moving the chains rather well; but its McCown. Admit it, we all knew something crazy was going to happen to prevent points from being scored. Manziel did well at first but things started to crumble pretty fast in the second half. I really think we should ride the season with Manziel and see how he does. That way we know if we need to address the position next year and sell the farm for a legit QB prospect. McCown just has "loser" written all over his face.

The WRs did alright. There were a few drops in the end, but I think that if schemed properly, these guys can make plays. Hartline's catch was downright amazing! They will have to because they are all we have. Dwayne Bowe, 9 Milllion guaranteed, nuff said.

The defensive line was underwhelming. Makes me wonder why we let Winn and Sheard go. Heck, at least Sheard got pressure and a sack. There were some good plays and bad, but zero pressure on passing downs. Makes the secondary's job that much harder.

The secondary was not good at all. There were no communication between the safties and the backs. over the top help was not there all day. Not to mention that Haden got owned by Brandon Marshall all day. Would be nice if Gilbert was worth his weight. Would have matched up better today if he wasn't injured/headcase. I will say that Brandon Marshall played with conviction. Wish we had a guy like that! Wait...we singed Bowe!

Special teams was good, that kicker is something to look forward to! LOL!

As far as coaching, I thought that Flip did alright in his regular season OC debut. Plays were there, just not executed. That's just my opinion. The penelties are a sign of lack of discipline. The OL should have an extra long week of practice as a result. Drive killers all day! Jim O'Neil leaves much to be desired. I said it all year last year...I miss Ray Horton!

Well, I might be the wrong guy to say that to. LOL

I was one of the very few who thought Shanny was a great OC. I didn't like the hire and complained about it. But, once I started watching our play design, I quickly changed my mind.

His route trees were outstanding. His zone run schemes were effective.

I really liked how he would give teams a look by running the ball and having the TE as an integral part of the blocking, and then later, slip that TE down the field. We hit two long TDs w/Cameron by doing that.

One thing on the lines, the soft practices and by all accounts these were this was the softest training camp anyone has ever seen, soft practice doesnt improve line play. Now we get to preseason. 1st game 1 or 2 series. 2nd game 3 or 4 series. 3rd game they play a half. 4th game they dont play at all. How the hell do you get ready for football mentally when you arent hitting and being hit.

Teaching the theory of hitting damn sure doesnt improve your ability to tackle.

Honestly...all this team does is SUCK the enjoyment out of me on Sundays. Since 1970 and growing up in Cleveland, the Browns have always been the team for me. I can live with 5 chances to go the Super Bowl. I can live with Red Right 88. I can live with Elway ripping our hearts out. I can no longer live with the garbage being fielded as an "NFL team" known as the Cleveland Browns. I thought having a NFC team to root for would help. It hasn't. This team SUCKS. Period. The ONLY thing that is viable is sucking so bad that the Browns actually have a chance to draft that ever elusive franchise QB. Do I really think that the guys in Berea will actually pull it off with a #1 choice? No. No I don't. The Cleveland Browns are dead. I don't know what the fans did to deserve this dumpster fire over the last 15 years but I do know that they deserve much better. Maybe it is time to just call it a day and let those memories of days gone by be remembered fondly. I don't know. It's getting close to quittin time. Life is to be enjoyed. I no longer enjoy watching this garbage. Something has to change.

After 55 years, I'm walking away from this dumpster fire. Good luck to everyone who continues to hang on. You'll need it.

Nick Foles was traded and he sure looked good today. Hell, he looked good in Philly.

Also, I think that you--and most others--really misunderstood Irvin's point. He was complaining not about good qbs getting big money, but instead, about bad qbs getting big money, while good players at other positions are being stiffed.

Who makes more for the Browns? Gipson or McCown?

Yes I'm doing fine... I guess it was scary watching me run around stripping off my Browns gear down to my bare ass screaming I can't take this anymore.. Sort of glad that truck full of collage girls hit me.. They had some darn good alcohol.

well now we have a major issue.

we got an OL who isn't capable of straight up blocking the guy in front of them. they are gonna get outmatched every week probably.

so that's a indictment on letting shanny walk, and an indictment on the talent on our OL.

they were very mediocre in pass protection. they couldn't move my grandma in run blocking. That means they aren't a strength of this team anymore. And maybe we should draft OL next year, as we got a bunch of cupcake ass lineman who can't outwork anybody in the trenches.

Does it matter? We're just going to lose anyway. Whether it be by 1 or by 100, a loss is a loss.

Nah. Go root for a team that actually has done it right and should be respected. The Pittsburgh Steelers. There is no denying that they DO know what they are doing as a franchise despite the level of hate that they inspired when the Browns were actually good and had a rivalry with them.

i think a lot of people gave up on the guy.

i'm not gonna front, i was excited when he came in, i was excited when he threw that TD, and he had me on the edge of my seat the entire game, because he looked like the only guy trying to make a play on offense. those runs were amazing, and he was sliding.

we can't afford 1st rounders riding the bench. we aren't the patriots, or any other team. our 1st rounders need to START, and the only way manziel is getting better is by playing.

so if me and other posters get labeled homers for that....all well. it is what it is. i was excited, and i hope he starts next week.
