Honestly, I just don't get what they're trying to do or build.
If I were a manager of a team and didn't have much money or sway to get people here, I'd try to take things in small steps. Get better to a point where you're equal to or better than the competition (best teams in the league), specialize in something, and make your team the best at it. Maybe it'll be power hitting or home runs, maybe it'll be fielding. Keep working with that and add other pieces to the system and eventually, you have a good team that's fairly competent in all phases of the game.
Specialize in getting players on base, loading the bases and getting players home. That's baseball and that's what I enjoy the most. Strategy is key ! Home runs are fun when there are players on base running in.
Single run home runs are blah to me, yes it's a run, I just really enjoy base stealing and running, those hits over the infield players heads and short of the outfielders gloves !
