Build a big airstrip, put a garrison of 20,000 Marines and Army troops, and another 10,000 of NATO troops on a rotational basis and end this crap of the last 50 years.
So you don't want to send a couple tanks we were going to mothball anyway to NATO's doorstep, but you want to drop 20k troops BACK into the black hole that is the Middle East?
Are you only 5 years old? If you're under 10, then I can understand having not seen what we were able to accomplish with troops in the Middle East.
You're an idiot...in a good way.
Look, we have been trying to sort this out for 60 years. Nothing has worked. I think a stabilizing force in the mid-east is needed. Gaza is in ruins. Those people have nowhere to go, they have to go somewhere, but it isn't there. At least not now.
I see it as being the study hall monitor to keep the kids from running amuck.
Was our involvement in Iraq post-Saddam as well as our involvement in Afghanistan NOT intended as a "stabilizing force"? You're right, nothing has worked... and you want to do more of that.
That is asinine on its own, and is 10x worse when you put it next to what you're saying we should do with Ukraine (spend no money)... there's just no adjective for it. We don't want to send a (relatively) small amount of equipment ($) to defend NATO's doorstep, but we want to send equipment, money, and troops ($$$) to the black hole that is the middle east... to try and do the same thing that hasn't worked in that area in the past... because the guy that negotiated the pull-out from Afghanistan randomly said so.
