Maybe Rodger can speed up the announcements now...
So apart from QBs, who is on the wish list at 26
Id be good with Marquise Lee or one of the FS- Dix or Pryor.
Why the hell do they lock ongoing threads? Weird.
Two years two first round linebackers for the Squealers. If you want to play a 3-4 That's the way you do it. I would not be mad if we took C.J Mosley if he's there....
Guess the Cowboys don't want to improve their defense... great OL guy though... can play any position...
Smart. They shore up their line. Maybe Jones is finally letting some football guys run the show..
Our next pick is taking forever, or so it seems!!!!
Looks like we could have Maziel if we want him. I'm starting to feel bad for Brady... er... Johnny.

Except (I just heard) that 3 of their last 4 1st round picks have been OL. Gotta go get some game changers sooner or later.

The next team that has any need at QB is the Cardinals at 20.
I'm betting we are calling every team trying to trade up with the same package. Just waiting on someone to take it.

Not me. He's a solid second round project. I'd rather have Bridgewater or Carr. Having the smallest QB in the league doesn't excite me.
Miami at 19 is where we would go
anybody else think Cinci will go for a QB? either way we'll have our QB on the board

Maybe Arizona ..... but they are close to being a great team. I don't know if they want to go QB this early. I think that all of these teams have far bigger needs here.
I'm betting the Browns trade with Miami.......2nd rounder and Bills 1st rounder.
Ah man.... Balitmore just got a lot better on defense...
You don't understand why? Or you don't want to understand why?

Yes they did. Great pick, but with Ozzie I expect nothing less.

Jets could .... but they just drafted Smith, and signed Vick. I think that they have other pressing needs. It would surprise me to see a QB here. I don't think that they are done with Smith yet.
I think that they go DB here ...... that's a huge need for them.

Bingo. Calvin Pryor.
Johnny Manziel might have to shave again.
I hate the Ravens and Steelers but they do know how to build a 3-4 defense. LINEBACKERS. And they both just got better. Of course having a great secondary is important too. And ours got better big time this year....

I think that it's obvious that we are very likely to be able to get one of Bridgewater, Manziel, or Carr at 26.

Actually, when I said the Jets were going DB, it was more an opinion of what they need.
Phins need OL Kwonjo or however you spell it
I hope it's Bridgewater, but I'm thinking Carr.... but I wouldn't bet on it.
Manziel would put us back on the map, at least for awhile...
I'm guessing Miami goes OL here...
Marqise Lee or Kelvin Benjamin maybe at 26?
looks like a lot of people were right about the lack of true talent in this years QB picks. Exactly how I felt. But a CB???
Im starting to like our options at 26..... Clinton Dix, Manziel and Bridgewater all on the board. Not to mention a crap ton of wideouts.

A point to consider... 1st round picks have 5 year contracts.. 2nd round have 4 year... if you really want a starter long term.. you want a 1st rounder.. so question is.. do you want Manzell or Bridgewater if you take them in second round..
just looking to future and what an early second round pick would mean.. or could we package picks for a third 1st round pick

The 5th year is an option, so it would be useful to have that with a rookie QB.
Seattle is going to have to upgrade Russell Wilson's contract in 2 years, where if he were a 1st rounder, it would be 3. It has its advantages.
think they wanted a CB all along.. remember.. tried to trade for Revis.. tried to sign Cromartie

We could probably move back into the late first for our second and one of thirds. I would be okay with that.

Sounds about right. I looked at a few mocks and Gilbert was 10 twice and 18 on another (though it was Prisco).

It has been reported that the Hawks are concerned about the longer guarantees a 1st round contract brings with it, and want out of the 1st. We're a good trade partner for them if that is the case.

a QB to sit behind Breese he is 35

I am not sure where Lewan plays for Tennessee. They have a pretty good o-line. Roos, Oher, Levtire, and Warmack. Where does Lewan play?
Quote:

Probably that 1st we just picked up, and a 2nd or so next year. (plus 26)
I'm glad we didn't trade up then. Lewan is a dirtbag of a human being and I would have a hard time rooting for him.
I changed that, and I think that might have been the case, because 26 to 11 is a huge jump.

I think that Philly goes Roby, then the Chiefs could go QB, If they do, that could convince the Browns to grab their guy at 26. If not, then I think they try to get back into the bottom of the 1st round.

Another cluster flop for Cleveland. Traded away our 5th round and 3rd round pick to take the second best CB in the draft and the tiniest QB in the draft.
Was Kevin Costner making the picks for us?
I've waited so long for this crock.
3rd times the charm ..
I just hope that he is the great player that so many think he is.
he worries me a bit ..... but he is an exciting player. He does have huge hands, which is a trait he shares with Wilson, who was a smaller QB who has found success.
Time to trade Hoyer. No reason to have him on the team. Johnny is the man now. And having the smallest QB in the league insures he'll never get hurt.....
It's a boom or bust pick, BUT we didn't make it at 4. I'm OK with it.

That's hilarious. Sal Paolantonio on ESPN just said that a homeless guy told Haslam to draft Johnny Football, so he did. LOL That's just about what I thought.
I hope that he becomes a great QB here in Cleveland.
There are reports that we wanted the receiver the Saints took, so Manziel was next on our board, and we went to get him.
An Auburn DE comes off next, and the air goes out of the building. LOL Not as exciting a player as Manziel, that's fot sure.

Spirit, I'm a little confused. Do we have the smallest QB in the league now or what?
Yes we do. We now have the smallest QB in the league. 5'11 and just a HAIR over 200 lbs. And with his stature he can't add much weight. So that's his size give or take a few lbs for his career. Facing the Steelers and Ravens twice a year. I hope I'm wrong. I hope he's this great QB all these talking heads insist he is. But MAN is he tiny. The woman interviewing him on the red carper was bigger. Not just taller but BIGGER. We shall see.
This will be the day that we remember that changed the organization folks. They may hold him back for a year to develop but this is going to be the guy. Finally, we re going to have a true gamechanger at QB.
Hoyer will start and Manziel will learn from him. He will have a big time playbook and the need to catch up to the speed of the nfl. Hopefully shanahan and Hoyer can bring him along correctly. Damn, I rather like our first two picks. I didn't want the others except for Garapallo

Sure lets let Hoyer play this year. And if we go 9-7 or 10-6 then what? I get to hear next year how Hoyer "earned" the starting position and Johnny will just sit there, right?
Because we sure as hell don't need players to actually take the field. Having a QB sit on the bench will gets us more wins.....
NO. You draft a high profile player like JFF he STARTS. You live with the growing pains and hope he learns the West Coast QUICKLY, If he's such a great QB he shouldn't have any problems. JFF better PRAY Gordon stays healthy and doesn't do something stupid. And he better pray they get another RB.

I can just imagine Manziel running around like a madman, dodging tackles, looking for a receiver who is open to throw to and he throws it to Little. And Little drops it.
I think they should stand pat and/or only trade up to 31 or 32....don't want to give up that other 3rd

If we draft another WR, Little may not make this team.

Same. If they only have to give up a fourth I am good with that.

Might make sense for the Cards to grab a QB here to groom.

I agree - if Teddy is there I think they take him... if he's not they go Carr...
Pats will trade out of their selection. Probably to us.

Isn't Carr at home with a camera there?
Sorry, not watching. I assumed he was in the green room.
For some reason, I have the Cubs v. White Sox game on.
As long as we didn't draft him I'm good. Carr was the guy I just flat out didn't want. He panics under pressure ala Brandon Weeden. I'm sick of soft QBs who don't have the sack to handle the pressure.
I wonder if we might be able to make a trade with the Pats here?
Quote:

What's your thinking?
OL? or WR?
Pats pick is in - no trade
2nd and a 4th to guarantee we get Lee??? I would be happy with that.
Guess not. Looks like the Pats make their pick. Kinda surprised that they didn't trade back, with those QBs there, and with us probably looking to move back up.
With Gronk done, the more I think of it, they'll take Lee here.
Seahawks or San Fran could both be looking at Lee...
Yeah if they don't I bet the niners do. If Lee is off the board we are smart just to set at 35 and wait until tomorrow. I suppose we could move up to make sure we get Moses ahead of the Skins, but I would probably just wait for my guy to come to me.

or Denver
I thought that - but they have a ton of need on the defensive side... I'd be surprised if they went WR with their first pick....
sounds like a good pick for NE
I don't get it...reach
good player but not in first especially for their defense

I don't like the Manziel pick, but I'll say this: If Manziel is on the field week one over Hoyer, Young or even Thigpen we're in serious trouble. My main knock on this guy after his swelled head was his size.
Definitely happy with the Gilbert pick though.

That's hilarious. Sal Paolantonio on ESPN just said that a homeless guy told Haslam to draft Johnny Football, so he did. LOL That's just about what I thought.
Haslam is a businessman, first and foremost, I think this is his pick. He knew Johnny would fill seats and all of us into football would be watching.
So Johnny will fill seats if he's not playing?
So are we gonna be faced with "Johnny, Johnny" chants every time Hoyer makes a bad play? Damn, every QB in the league makes a bad play too, but will they have to endure the chants for the backup like we will?
I think the pick was a mistake....time will tell.

The Browns sell out every game anyway. I don't buy the whole "we have to put butts in seats" aspect. I also don't believe that farmer would let himself get put into that position with his 1st GM spot. He had options before deciding to stay here.
Roby to DEN
last pick of the night... will we trade up?

+1 Browns fans are so fickle by halftime of the first game, if we are not winning by 3 TDs they will be chanting for JM.

I might have been tempted to take him if he had fallen to the 35th pick. He did have a great 2012, before slipping in 2013, and he has nice size and speed for the position.
Exactly. It was also widely reported that the Browns really liked Manziel, but that they didn't rate him as a top 10 pick. Haslem loved him of course but defered to his scouts........everybody wins. Ray and MP get the guy they wanted (and a potential high 1st next year to boot) and get the QB both they and Haslem wanted for the value they wanted to pay.

Johnny has to start. We should be on the phone tonight trying to move Hoyer. It would be stupid to draft JFF and then start Hoyer for the reasons you mention. We've seen that before with DA/Quinn. If we start Hoyer and he goes 9-7 or 10-6 this year.... then what? Johnny sits again? Means we WASTED a pick that COULD have been a player that could HELP us. JFF sitting on the bench doesn't score us any points, doesn't gain us any yards and doesn't stop the other guy from scoring.
Damn i don't want another QB controversy in this town. If Johnny is the man, then dump Hoyer and get Johnny out on the field. Live with the growing pains and get him up to speed ASAP.

If we draft another WR, Little may not make this team.
We added Hawkins and Burleson. Add a guy like Lee on top of that and Little's days could be numbered.
Let's hope so. I see Little as Braylon Edward's II, and he's not even that good..... But just as bad.
Vikings traded into first - about to get a QB

Lee or Latimer will fall in our lap round 2
Little is no way Edwards. Not even close. Little busts his ass in practices, in the film room, and works as hard on his body and skills as anyone on the Browns. He just simply has issues catching the ball.
I wish that we would look at him as a TE. I think he could excel there.

Minn trades up for Bridgewater and that's the last pick tonight. Peace
Poor Houston - missed out on Teddy by 1 pick...
I still think they go QB.... but who will it be?
Teddy to Minnesota. He's the QB I wanted (sighs).
Considering we traded down then up twice already I won't be surprised if a lot of teams call us tomorrow...and we trade down...But very good talent is still there for our picking
Well see you guys tomorrow night. Later....

Night all.
Lee should be there when we pick tomorrow if we want him... unless someone trades in front of us... I think Houston has to take a QB and I don't think Washington will go for a WR.

Never wanted him. l'll be interested to see how he works out in the cold weather while Minny is building their new stadium. I think it's a bad fit.
Yep. As much as I want another CB to finish the back end of the defense, if we could get Lee, I would be thrilled with this draft. That would give us 2 impact starters, and a QB to develop.

Lose? No. Sit till he's genuinely ready? Yes. Let's face it. He's no Andrew Luck, so he's not going to be up to speed this year.
How many times have we said 'the speed of the game' when talking about rookies? No one on earth can count that high.

Yeah, an extra 1st and an extra 4th. Wow. if someone had told me that we would get Manziel and Gilbert, PLUS a 1st and 4th next year ...... all for the cost of a 3rd and a 5th ...... man, Farmer did a really nice job so far.
Obviously we don't know how these guys will ultimately turn out, but he sure appears to have hit the marks so far.

Browns remaining picks in this draft: (right now)
2nd: 35
3rd: 71
4th: 106, 127
5th: None
6th: 180
7th: 218
We can still make some serious noise here.

No thanks on Latimer. Jordan Matthews would be my preference, followed by Lee if we go WR. Other guys of note:
Xavier Su'a-Filo
Cyrus Kouandjio
David Yankey
Terrence Brooks
Not that I want DL, but I could see the brass having an interest in either of these two guys...
Louis Nix
RaShede Hageman
Lee, Van Noy, Matthews
Those are the guys I want though I also like Bitonio, Sua-Filo too (just think we can get decent OG later).
Van Noy for inside I presume? I'd be ok with that.
My preferences are really 1a and 1b - Matthews and Su'a-Filo. I think they're both perfect fits - for WCO and ZBS, respectively. Though, obviously Lee is a fit as well, considering he played in WCO at USC. I just want a bigger WR than Lee is.
2. OG Sua Filo
3. ILB Shayne Skov
4. WR Brandon Coleman
4b. RB Kadeem Carey (could have sworn we lost this pick??)
6. FS Kenny Ladler
7. OLB/ILB Devon Kennard
We traded away 1 3rd and our 5th round picks.

Although I wanted/hoped for Watkins, I was not surprised at the trade down. I was surprised at the JFB selection. Really had me thinking they were going second round with the QB. What I do not think many are even considering, during the heat of the draft, is the financial aspect of it.
1- we save about a mil per position by dropping back to 8
2- we still save and gain the extra fifth year for the QB so we can red shirt him and still get 4 solid years to see if he can pan out.
That's going to be big savings on cap space later. Also, by taking a "potential" shut down corner, they cover themselves if they get in a bind and are unable to come to terms with what Haden is going to be asking after the Marshall contract.
Just some side thoughts as we move through the draft.
Go Ray, we still need a WR, OL, SS, and maybe a RB and DL depth.
