Dear Dad, Thank you for teaching me to root for the likes of Reggie Jackson, Ron Guidry, Jim Leyritz, Tino, Jeter, and the rest of the Yankees. I’ll never understand why these other guys root for the Cleveland Indians when they could just as easily cheer for and support the greatest organization in all of sports.
Heading to the ballpark next weekend. I think I'm going to have to give the choolaah bowl a whirl!
I'm amused at the Cuban dog having pulled pork and ham, then someone decided to pull back the meat reigns and said, "we better make this sausage vegetarian."
When did the schedule makers change the days off? Never seen a regular day off on a Friday!
My guess is the schedule makers were allowing for the possibility of an Opening Day postponement with Thursday being the Twins home opener. If the weather was bad (which is certainly reasonable this time of year in Minneapolis) it would not be ideal to have opening day for the Twins scheduled as a doubleheader, therefore, Friday happens to be an off day.

My understanding is that the top rated hitters are Bazzana Middle infield Oregon St, JJ Wetherholt middle infield West Virginia, and Nick Kurtz 1b Wake Forest Top rated pitcher is Chase Burns Wake Forest Though I like Hagen Smith LP Arkansas
The Cleveland Indians should trade Bieber before the deadline. Get some decent prospects, and make the playoffs in a couple years. It’ll be awesome! Go Tribe!
One stat that I always pay close attention to is run differential.
Runs Scored versus Runs Against.
It is a telling stat because it tells how you are winning. Winning a lot of close one run games can sometimes be misleading. It is always good to win but it can swing the other way real easy. You can start to lose close games.
When the differential is high like the Guardians +35. You are beating teams easily.
MLB: Cleveland Guardians at Boston Red Sox Paul Rutherford-USA TODAY Sportsnormal
Guardians 10, Red Sox 7
Let’s get the elephant in the room out of the way at the start:
Getting there was a lot more complicated.
Tanner Bibee pitched his best game of the young season, and the offense provided him with plenty of support. A 5-1 lead when your starting pitcher exits after 5 innings is great work by everybody involved.
But the 6th inning was a mess. After the Guardians did nothing in the top of it, Tyler Beede entered and gave up multiple runs in his third straight appearance. His ERA nearly doubled this time, going only a third of an inning and giving up 3 runs. Cade Smith then replaced him, and had his roughest game, too.
Red Sox 6, Guardians 5 after 6.
Eli Morgan then saved the day, pitching stellarly until the offense could tie the game in the 9th.
Then both teams scored a run in the 10th. The Guardians should have scored many more than 1; the Red Sox scored only because Manfred Do Free Runner Thing.
The 11th was excellent, though.
And then after those highlights, Scott Barlow struck out two Red Sock batters for his first save as a Guardian.
Around baseball
Who cares?
The best record in baseball (12-5) belongs to….. the Cleveland Guardians.
What a win. I don't get to watch the Guardians unless they are on some kind of national coverage.
So, each morning I watch "Quick Pitch."
Of course it is very early but my two teams lead the AL and the NL.
The Braves are down three All Star players. Spencer Strider done for a year. Ozzie Albies just fractured his big toe (hit by pitch). Probably miss a month. Sean Murphy "oblique" will miss at least a month.
Guardians lost the series but I was very impressed by them.
I live in Atl. so I watch all their games. I have been a fan of the Braves since they were in Milwaukee.
But I also have been a Cleveland fan.
The Guardians grind out their at bats. They work the count. They don't strike out. They show patience at the plate.
They have good pitching. IMO they will win the Central.
Fun team to watch. I am expecting a good season. When they bring up Manzardo. He will add some power. Hopefully at the trade deadline they add some pieces.
Johnathan Rodriguez should be brought up from Triple A.
Explain please. I don't know much about him. I heard the name but don't even know what position he plays. What's he been doing in Triple A to warrant a call up?
Manzardo's swing reminds me of Wade Boggs'. Boggs' swing not his stance which is why I think Manzardo will hit for more power. Boggs had an amazing eye, which is why Manzardo probably won't come close for overall batting average.

He’s been hitting the ball hard so far this year. He just had a 24 game on base streak end yesterday or today. If the Guards weren’t playing well, Florial (he just hit a three run shot as I’m typing this haha) and Laureano would be gone and JRod and Manzardo would probably be called up.
My wife and I were at this game and it was insane when Lindor hit that GS. Jay Bruce hit a HR an inning or so later and the place went nuts as well. The Tribe ended up winning that game in extra innings. Good times!
Feel bad for the pitching staff. Official scorer ruled both triples.
The 1st should have been an error, the 2nd I would have ruled a single with a 2 base error. Arguably a double and a 1 base error but also arguably an error altogether
My post came before the 2nd 3 bagger. I was talking about the ball Rocchio had to catch over his head because Arias didn’t take charge. The other mistake was him almost running into Brennen.

Regardless, your point is spot on. Even more evidencet o support it
CLEVELAND -- The Kyle Manzardo Era is about to begin in Cleveland.
According to sources, the Guardians are expected to add Manzardo to the Major League roster on Monday afternoon in place of outfielder Steven Kwan, who will be heading to the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring strain. The team has not confirmed the moves.
Manzardo, the team’s No. 2 prospect and No. 52 overall according to MLB Pipeline, has done everything in his power to get this call. In his last 14 games alone, he’s hit eight homers with six doubles and 14 RBIs. His defense at first base has improved and his bat has been consistent since the Triple-A season began.
“He’s been good against left-handed pitching, his approach against lefties has improved,” Guardians president of baseball operations Chris Antonetti said prior to Cleveland’s 4-1 victory over the Angels on Sunday. “He’s worked really hard at his defense, both his footwork around the bag and his throwing and he continues to put up and manage really good at-bats.”
The problem was, the Guardians didn’t have room for young first baseman on the active roster. Josh Naylor handles the everyday duties at first base. Gabriel Arias brings defensive versatility to the table. Estevan Florial is still young and the team needs a longer look at him before deciding if it wants to part ways. Ramón Laureano is one of the few right-handed bats the team can turn to off the bench. There wasn’t a missing piece of the puzzle that Manzardo would be able to fill, despite how well he was hitting in Columbus.
That is, until now. This is the last way the Guardians would’ve wanted to add Manzardo to the roster, considering Kwan has been the best hitter in the American League this year. Entering the day, his 47 hits and .353 average were the best in the AL and he hadn’t struck out in an MLB-best 74 consecutive plate appearances. Adding Manzardo is something the team would hope would only improve the lineup, but this way, it’s coming with some drawbacks with the loss of the Guardians' leadoff hitter.
With Kwan on the IL, expect Will Brennan to see more time in left field and Laureano in right. Florial has the ability to play all three outfield spots, so the Guardians are still covered in the grass. Manzardo can work in at first base, but can also serve as the DH on days that Naylor is in the field.
However, Manzardo will now have his chance to prove that what he did all through Spring Training and in Triple-A can translate to the big league level. He was acquired at last year’s Trade Deadline from the Rays in exchange for righty Aaron Civale to bring some pop to the middle of the order that’s been missing from this lineup. With José Ramírez going deep on Sunday and Josh Naylor being the source of this team’s power all season, adding Manzardo has the potential to boost this lineup even more.
In 13 Cactus League games, Manzardo hit .381 with a .934 OPS, two doubles and two RBIs. The Guardians optioned him to Triple-A Columbus, hoping that he would show that his success at the plate would continue throughout the early weeks of the season. Once it did, it was clear that Manzardo was the only option to be promoted when a spot opened up.
He is mentioned in the last post on page 8 of this thread.
he is listed 3rd in the adjusted exit velocity list Behind Rodriguez and Manzardo
Until that point I had never heard of him. Pretty decent batting stats How is his defense?
We have several good hitting middle infielders in the minors - Brito, Martinez, etc They all have basically the same question about them. Are the ygood enough defensively to play SS in the pro's or are they really second basemen?
He played all over the infield in Camp. He plays SS in Col... He is an infielder who hits for power and gets on base ! I thought he outplayed both Arias and Ricco in Spring training.
Agreed! Got to see last night's win. Usually gagging on Bally's overkill coverage of Cincytucky Reds. Pre-game, game, post=game and then re-broadcast it. This was a gritty win! Clase (?) is impressive closer. Not-the-Tribe looked good though attendance seemed sparse. Getting all Guardy.
