Hey all - thought it might be fun to get a thread going on what people think will happen day 1 of the draft. Not full mocks, we've all seen tons of those by now, but rather things you think will happen. Please make sure you include in your list, where you think Mariota will end up.
I have a few predictions:
1) Browns trade twice - up for Leonard Williams (giving up 12/43) and down from 19 and taking Eddie Goldman (picking up a late 2nd)
2) None of Randy Gregory, Shane Ray or La'el Collins are taken in round 1
3) OL, CB, and WR make up more than 50% of the picks in round 1
4) Surprise first rounders are Philip Dorsett and Damarius Randall
5) Bud Dupree is taken well before expected (top 10).
6) Mariota is a Charger by the end of the day and Rivers is a Titan.
I predict if I think about this too much more my head is going to explode.
What's gonna happen with our Brownies? Are they gonna trade up? Yes? No? No idea.
I do know that for most football fans draft day is just as good as Christmas morning was when we were kids. EXCITING!
I'm going to be recording the draft and going to bed at my usual time (5 PM). This way I can stick to my sleep schedule (important), FF through all the ick in the show and get to the good stuff when I awaken.
- GO BROWNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- our attempts to move up are thwarted, so we "settle" for a DL in the 1st
- Brandon Perrimen is a Brown at this time tomorrow
- Steelers draft Landon Collins
- Kevin White and Amare Cooper both go in the top 6
- the Browns end the draft with the same QB options
- they draft Malcolm Brown (RB-Texas) but not Malcom Brown (DT-Texas)
- they draft both Perriman (WR-UCF) and Perryman (ILB-Miami)
This years' draft is very difficult to speculate upon. Will we see trades? There may be none...or a ton. My crystal ball needs a tuneup...
So suddenly there are many rumors that we'll have Sam Bradford by the end of the day
12.) Danny Shelton DT
19.) Melvin Gordon RB
43.) Devin Smith WR
77.) Maxx Williams TE
112.)Donovan Smith OT
115.)Tre' Jackson OG
147.)Bryce Petty QB
189.)Devin Funchess WR
202.)Daniel Hunter OLB
229.)Arie Kouandjio OG
pull it all out of my... just for grins and giggles.
Hopefully we will stop the QB maddness and stick with what we have for now other than picking up a surprise late round QB with some potential or possibility. The next Tom Brady gawd willing.
The Browns have 10 picks......The Browns won't have 10 drafted players at end of draft.
(Some deep thought here, folks.)
If we trade #12 straight up for Sam Bradford that would be idiotic IMO
The ONLY way I'd trade #12 for Bradford is if he signs an extension (that is performance based) and we received something else
My first post was actually a goof, here's one I think might actually happen;
Winston and Mariota go first and second, then Jax takes Fowler
Browns trade with Oakland for Leonard Williams
Much to my dismay, I'm predicting Mariota being a Cleveland Brown tonight at the expense that will make all our stomachs upset (unless you're pimping MM.)

I agreed with this train of thought until the past day or so ... I actually don't think he'll be a Brown anymore.
I'd say there's a better chance Sam Bradford is
Now thats OUR Cleveland , choke and over pay for MM or Bradford .. Sounds about right !
I predict a few people will be optimistic.
Some people will wait and see.
A few will claim were only going to win 2 games.
A small group will bash Farmer.
At least one person will call Haslam a liar and a cheat.
Editors Note: All of this will happen regardless of what happens during the draft..
I predict we'll make a move that will come off as the story of the draft, like we did last year twice (not taking Watkins and then taking Manziel). Everyone will call us out on it too by saying, "the Browns like to make spectacular moves in the first round, but their choices never work out and they'll be doing this again next year." And that will happen even if they choices were right.
I hope we stay at 12 and 19, maybe even move down a bit if possible, and just add depth to both lines mostly. I want a DT, though probably not Shelton. I want a pass rusher, which I'd be okay with Ray (he's got a lot to prove and that could be in the 3rd round). I want some depth on the O-line that can eventually take the place of Mack. And I want a playmaking wideout.
Cleveland gives up all our picks this year to the Eagles for Sam Bradford, who tears his ACL while doing a camera interview from his home.
FYI - I am kidding......

I was about to say, when I was reading your list I was thinking "all that stuff is going on now, every day, draft or no draft". lol
Cleveland gives up all our picks this year to the Eagles for Sam Bradford, who tears his ACL while doing a camera interview from his home.
FYI - I am kidding......
I wouldn't be surprised. It's our move.
I predict that by 11:00 I'll be angry
Cleveland gives up all our picks this year to the Eagles for Sam Bradford, who tears his ACL while doing a camera interview from his home.
And we throw in Joe Thomas to sweeten the deal.
I predict we draft a 1st round RB and people here will wonder why, despite the fact that Crow and West are overrated.
Overrated?????
I think the word your searching for is PRODUCTIVE ...
If we trade for Sam Bradford and give up a first round pick, Farmer should be fired on the spot.
I think the word your searching for is PRODUCTIVE ... That combined 4.0 YPC is super productive alright...
We should trade down and draft Randy Gregory, Shane Ray, Dorial Green Beckham, J. Collins.
We can get them on the cheap.
If we draft a RB in round 1...I may die lol instead of blowing it on another RB, I'd TRY to obtain a substantially better QB...or even filling those greater needs like pass rush OLB, DT, WR, TE, RT, C etc
4.0 is a good NFL Avg.Yards Per Carry not to mention the the 12 combined TD'S ...
4.0 is a good NFL Avg.Yards Per Carry not to mention the the 12 combined TD'S ...
It's really not when you have no passing game to speak of.
4.0 is really blah if that's what we are going to hang our hat on.
We should trade down and draft Randy Gregory, Shane Ray, Dorial Green Beckham, J. Collins.
We can get them on the cheap.
And set a Gusiness World Record for having the most players suspended in a single season for a single team, lmao!
Not even counting Gordon!!!
+1
The Browns trade up with the Raiders for Mariotta (12 and 19).
The Browns then spend the next 2/3 round picks on D.
We draft a WR in the 4/5 round.
I don't like MM, and I don't think we will give the Titans what they want, but if he makes it past 2 I bet we move to get him. I'm not 100% sold on him, but I think Farmer is....we will see.
My draft day prediction.
We will not have ten or more drafted players at the end of the day.
I predict that all of our predictions will be wrong.
Cleveland gives up all our picks this year to the Eagles for Sam Bradford, who tears his ACL while signing his extension.
Fixed it!
Hopefully we will stop the QB maddness and stick with what we have for now other than picking up a surprise late round QB with some potential or possibility. The next Tom Brady gawd willing.
Stick with what we have? What do we have? A second string QB in McCown who has lost twice as many games as he's won. And a tiny little run first QB that couldn't stay healthy for more than two games and is coming off a stint in rehab?
Fact is we have nothing at the QB position right now. So sticking with what we have means sticking with not much at all. The cupboard is bare. That doesn't mean we should trade the sun, moon and stars to move up. But it does mean they better find SOMEONE to play the position this year. Trade for Rivers, trade for Cousins, trade for SOMEONE if they aren't going to draft one.
After last years debacle I don't know what to predict. Hopefully, Farmer learned from his mistake and drafts players in the first that actually PLAY on Sunday. More bench warmers we DON'T need. Hopefully, he learned to avoid the headcases. We are hip deap in those guys.... Don't need anymore. If getting an actual NFL quarterback is out of the question then finding us a PASS RUSHER would be very nice. I know it's a lot to ask, and the staff seems perfectly content with 31 sacks a season. But frankly, that BLOWS. An elite pass rusher would do wonders for this team. I'd love to say they might move up to take Williams but that would take stones.... making it highly unlikely.
We blow everyone away and TRADE DOWN for picks, address OL, DL, get some pass catchers and get our AFCN QB:
Round 1 Pick 16 (HOU): Devante Parker, WR, Louisville
Round 1 Pick 22 (PITT): Malcom Brown, DT, Texas
Round 2 Pick 11: Jake Fisher, OT/OG, Oregon
Round 2 Pick 19 (HOU): Bryce Petty, QB, Baylor
Round 2 Pick 24 (PITT): Phillip Dorsett, WR, Miami (Fla.)
Round 3 Pick 13: Henry Anderson, DE, Stanford
Round 4 Pick 12: Jeff Heuerman, TE, Ohio State
Round 4 Pick 16: Ty Sambrailo, OT, Colorado State
Round 4 Pick 17 (HOU): Derron Smith, FS, Fresno State
Round 5 Pick 11: Alani Fua, OLB, Brigham Young
Round 6 Pick 13: Malcolm Brown, RB, Texas
Round 6 Pick 26: Justin Manton, K, Louisiana-Monroe
Round 7 Pick 12: Donald Celiscar, CB, Western Michigan
Actually, after the success we had in the later rounds, we'll trade down to get four additional 2nd rounders and six 3rd rounders. And we'll nail ALL of them.
#Boom
Forget Bradford! Keep Manziel this year, if he stinks it up real good we can get an OSU QB next year.
Draft 2WR, 2DLine, C, OLB, CB
Trade picks for next year pics.
Look to next year in this draft.
We are getting Bradford, Cox and Kendricks from the Eagles at number 12 and we pick up Todd Gurley at number 19....:)
Stop the run..........Shelton
Stop the run..........Shelton
But Shelton can't run (slowest 40 time ever - okay, maybe not ever but it was incredibly slow).
What do we have? A second string QB in McCown who has lost twice as many games as he's won.
Don't start spreading lies.
He won 17 and lost 32. Clearly, that's 2 wins better than you claim.
hahahaha
How many here think Farmer will screw up this draft?
How many here hope he does just so they can complain about him?
Why would any real Browns fan want their GM to screw up?
1. Garrett Grayson will have a better career than Bryce Petty and Brett Hundley
2. Tevin Coleman will get more yards than Todd Gurley his rookie season
3. Breshad Perriman will be drafted in the top 15
4. La’el Collins will fall to the 3rd round
5. The Browns will take a DL, LB and WR in their first 3 picks
browns trade out of 1st this year have 3 numbers 1s for next year.
browns acquire 2 number 2s giving us 3 picks in the first 64.
La’el Collins will fall to the 3rd round
Collins WILL NOT be drafted tonight. If he is lucky, he will be picked in the supplemental draft.
Edit
Looks like the NFL has rejected his desire to be in the supplemental draft. Link:

How many here hope he does just so they can complain about him?

i predict an epic meltdown on the boards come 8-10pm
So, we have no one at QB, BUT don't trade much to get a good one?
Got it. Decent formula.
I understand much is unknown with these early QBs, but your general approach confuses me.
I don't want the team to take a QB in this draft, so that's my prediction. We roll with McCown, Manziel and the better of Lewis or Shaw.
Thanks. I'd almost be happy with that without the trade picks. I'd want Petty though.
1. Garrett Grayson will have a better career than Bryce Petty and Brett Hundley
2. Tevin Coleman will get more yards than Todd Gurley his rookie season
3. Breshad Perriman will be drafted in the top 15
4. La’el Collins will fall to the 3rd round

I love Tevin Coleman...gunna be a heck of a RB...The QB class is mess this year, everyone's a wildcard...Your right I don't think Perriman will last to round 2...and somehow I think he's going to be a better version of Heyward Bey...I don't want him lol
Tonight :Shelton and Smith
Tonight :Shelton and Smith
Smith?
La'el Collins tackle gets drated in the first round.
That's what I think.
For some reason, Devin Smith at 19. My "didn't see that coming" guess
All of this would not be possible without ESPn visionaries, 25+ years ago!
And they've gotten to be such an arrogant network.
Ke ser rah, ser rah.
I don't want the team to take a QB in this draft, so that's my prediction. We roll with McCown, Manziel and the better of Lewis or Shaw.
Guard Dawg, aka Carnac the Magnificent (you have to old enough to remember the Johnny Carson show to get the reference)
The Browns have 10 picks......The Browns won't have 10 drafted players at end of draft.
I swear someone hijacked my account when this was posted......
Man I thought for sure my prediction was Gold. We would not come away with 10 or more in this draft...meaning we would use picks to move up...which started out to be that way with Xavier Cooper...then we started adding more n more picks...With what 12 at the drafts end?
man I suck at these stupid predictions...lol
All the players I pimped the hardest ended up on the Steelers or Ravens. (Dupree, James, Waller)
I hope I was wrong about them.
I do like our draft.
