OP bonefish Legend Joined: Apr 2007 Posts: 16,243 Back in Atl. Ga.	If you like mountains Banff is the place to see them. I have traveled the Rockies mountains from Sante Fe, NM. to Banff National. Through Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, British Colombia, and Alberta. I have fished in Alaska. They are not the Rockies but there are mountains there. I lived in the Sierra Nevada range and fished in the Cascades. Most of my time was spent chasing wild trout. Other times site seeing and soft hiking. Yellowstone and Glacier National are incredible to see but Banff somehow seems different. For someone who is a photographer and is into photographing mountain landscapes. Damn, they would be in heaven.

Ballpeen Legend B Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 39,817 Tennessee	Pretty part of the world. My wife was born in Idaho so we have used that as a base of operation so to speak half a dozen times. Lake Louise, Moraine Lake..doesn't get any better than that. Moraine Lake lodging is more rustic. We rented a cabin. At Lake Louise, the Fairmont Chateau is about as upscale as it gets. Very nice property. Once you see the color of that water, it never leaves your mind. If everybody had like minds, we would never learn. GM Strong

OP bonefish Legend Joined: Apr 2007 Posts: 16,243 Back in Atl. Ga.	Spectacular. Everywhere you look. We went to a place that had six wolves that were rescued from different situations. During a presentation about wolves from a park ranger in front of one of the enclosures. One of the wolves lifted his head and howled. Then the others in other locations howled in return. It is a different sound than hearing through a TV. Hard to describe. It is a natural sound with tone quality and timbre. Beautiful really. The way light from the sun hits cliffs at different times is breathtaking. Waterfalls are all over the place. Not sure what else nature can do to display such beauty.

I still like the Many Glacier area of Glacier NP the most but you certainly can't go wrong in Banff. I still need to stay at a nicer place up there at some point, maybe that thought would change then. I've stayed at Many Glacier Hotel inside of Glacier and the Prince of Wales Hotel in Waterton. Both absolutely breathtaking lodges. Banff was just a regular hotel. I'd love to go stay somewhere better up there one day.
