Please stop with the Trump is Hitler stuff.

Call him a wanna-be-despot, wanna-be-king…whatever. Directly referring to him as Hitler, though, undermines the legitimate outcries against him, though.

I think the article you brought up is a valid critique, but starting the post the way you did will lead to disregard.

This isn't the first time he has said such things. What we have to watch out for is if he starts getting away with it.

I'll call him exactly what I think he is.. I will NOT dance around it.

He is doing roughly the same things that Hitler did with the help of Ungrateful b...ards like Steve Miller who's family came here to escape the very kind of government that that damn fool is helping and advising Trump to build here... And his own family hates him for it.

So, excuse me if I feel the need to say what's on my mind, or would rather attempt to sensor me.

Those that disregard a post that starts with a title saying the president (any president) wants to take the broadcast licenses of ABC and NBC away, are almost all lost already...

Nobody is trying to tell you not to say what’s on your mind. Just that it might have the opposite effect if what you intend.

Regardless, Trump is very mush like Hitler in many ways.

Yep. Also CBS, FOX and many other news outlets. It’s called free speech, freedom of press. Just in case you forgot. This is a free country, or was.

You undermine any arguemement no matter how valid as soon as you type Hitler.

You can deny that and keep doing it - or you can reflect and crticize the douche bag without invoking Hitler. But what I said and dawglover said earlier is fact.

Funny thing, we're talking about it. So in some way, it's working just fine.,

I want someone to say to me, "What are you talking about, he's nothing like Hitler", and then watch as their heads explode when proof is shown.

It starts to get silly after a while. It's like the Loons that complain about Cracker Barrel changing their logo. If they wanna change it, it's ok to say you don't like the new one, but to tear them down for it, seems stupid.

So I don't think for a second that it cheapens him being called Hitler. It makes people talk about it. If for no other reason than to tell me I might want to rethink using it.

No. You loose the argument. The two people who have bothered to tell you that it's pointless brining Nazi and Hitler into the diwscussion are already fully aware of what Trump is and what he's doing. If you want company doing that - go to Soc Media - you'll find people who will join you and call Trump all sorts of things and accuse him of all sorts of things even if they are true or not and everyone will agree and pile on without a shred of critical thinking. . . That's the sort of poeple who will "talk about it" and it doesn't help or change a thing.

I watch local affiliates on those channels. I don’t watch any network that is a news network unless it’s breaking news, such as when the Ukraine war started.

There have been a lot of interesting studies and conversation lately regarding the dopamine effect of social media and 24/7 news media outlet and the harmful effects it causes on our brain, including dopamine addiction. It dovetails with what I’ve seen in my own family through the decades and the general discourse that has happened politically. You could even look at the tone of conversations in this forum, as they have progressed since 2006. People have put up walls and fingers in their ears, and overreact almost instantly. It leads to some combo of reptilian and childish behavior becoming the controlling voice.

I’m not saying that from an Ivory Tower either. I have not been immune from the effects myself.

You can most certainly post anything you like within the confines of the rules. For me the overriding point is this. Almost one third of registered voters are independent voters. They are the only people you have any chance of swaying one way or the they when they vote. Everyone else is pretty much locked into the party line even if they ran Satan. I won't post an example of that but I think you get it. naughtydevil

I do think there are a lot of comparisons to be made in the early days of Hitler. How things started and led to where Germany ended up. The problem is when you start to compare trump to Hitler you lose the very people who may be convinced to vote against him and people like him. They consider it far outside the bounds of normalcy. They consider it radical and extremist. As such rather than make any headway in convincing the very people you need to win future elections, you alienate them.

Like I said, you can do anything you want. On a personal basis, just as I've described, I see it doing more harm than good. To each their own.

Well put and I know where you are coming from. But here's the problem....People don't hear unless you pound it into their heads.

Example, I was at breakfast with friends this morning. We were chatting away. One of them, a devout Trumper and a former police officer said he received a bump in SS pay. Like $7 or $8 Grand, He got it in may. He said that Trump sighed it into law. I told him it wasn't Trump. It was biden....He swears up and down, it was trump... So I pulled it up on my phone, showed him it was signed on January 5th 2025 and that it was Biden that signed it into law.

He said it was FAKE news.. Funny thing is, it was a FOX news article.

No matter how many times I told him that in the hour or so we were sitting there, he insisted it was trump.

Some folks will never get it. So pounding it into their skulls is about about the only way to get it through.

I do understand that some folks get upset over hearing it. But truth is truth. I'll keep going.

I certainly understand your frustration in that scenario. The problem is that, like you said, those people will never be convinced, no matter what facts you show them. It’s a lost cause. There are certainly people on the other side of that coin, too, who would pull the lever in the other direction no matter what.

What Pit, mgh and I are talking about, though, are the people who are not convinced or committed, who perhaps may have voted in that direction before. It’s a small subset of us who could vote either way depending on the candidate and/or issue, but it’s also the portion of the population who make the deciding votes. Those are the people who I think would see the Trump/Hitler comparison and then recoil because of its extremity.

Yet another attempt to silence journalists

Trump Attacks Reporter Asking About His Making Money In Office: ‘You Are Hurting’ Your Country Right Now
Mediaite
Tue, September 16, 2025 at 10:35 AM EDT

President Donald Trump scolded a reporter who questioned him about his increased personal wealth since taking office.

Speaking with reporters on the White House lawn Tuesday, the president fielded a question about his net worth from a journalist with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

“How much wealthier are you now than when you returned to the White House?” The reporter asked.

“Well, I don’t know,” Trump said. “The deals I made, for the most part … other than what my kids are doing here. They’re running my business… but most of the deals that I’ve made were made before. And that’s what I’ve done for a life. I’ve built buildings.”

Trump proceeded to boast about the new ballroom he’s constructing at the White House.

“You see that area?” Trump asked the reporter. “That is going to be the greatest ballroom anywhere in the world. And for a hundred and fifty — so it gives me pleasure to do it for the country. And I’m paying for it. The country is not — and that’s an expensive ballroom. I think it’ll cost $250 million. And it will be, I think, the finest ballroom. For 150 years … you know, they’ve wanted a ballroom and now they’re going to finally have it. And it’s going to knock your socks off!”

The reporter pressed Trump on his business endeavors — with recent reporting indicating that the Trump family has made as much as $5 billion in recent months off of a crypto venture alone.

“Is it appropriate, President Trump, that a president in office should be engaged in so much business activity?” The reporter asked.

“Well, I’m really not, my kids are running the business,” Trump replied — before attacking the reporter. “Where are you from?”

“I’m from the Australian Broadcasting Corporation,” the reporter said.

“In my opinion, you are hurting Australia very much right now. And they want to get along with me. You know, your leader is coming over to see me very soon. I’m going to tell him about you. You set a very bad tone,” Trump fumed.

Trump proceeded to call on another correspondent, and cut off the Australian reporter — who was trying to follow up.

“Quiet!” Trump said.

Trump Melts Down at ABC Reporter: ‘Hate in Your Heart’

President Donald Trump has accused an ABC reporter of having “hate in your heart” and suggested the administration may go after the press if they treat him unfairly.

As he left the White House on Tuesday for his trip to the UK, Trump was asked about plans by Attorney General Pam Bondi to crack down on hate speech in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s assassination.

Bondi’s comments sent First Amendment-loving members of MAGA world into a spin on Monday, with some even going so far as to call her a “moron” for making such a claim.

However, when pressed by ABC’s Jonathan Karl on what he thought, the president replied: “We’ll probably go after people like you because you treat me so unfairly.

“It’s hate. You have a lot of hate in your heart. Maybe we’ll go after ABC,” Trump said.

Karl has covered Trump for decades and is also his biographer.

The personal attack was met with an immediate backlash by Democrats.

“So is the AG going to go after journalists who displease the president?” asked former Barack Obama adviser David Axelrod.

California Governor Gavin Newsom was more definitive, writing on X: “Donald Trump says he will send the DOJ after the press if they say things he doesn’t like.”

But Trump’s comments were merely the latest in a string of threats he has made against the media over the past 24 hours.

Late on Monday, the president filed a $15 billion defamation lawsuit against the New York Times and some of its most prominent reporters for articles and a book that made the case that he built his business fortune, in part, through fraud.

On Tuesday, he lashed out at Australian Broadcasting Corporation journalist John Lyons for asking him if it was “appropriate” that he was enriching himself while in office.

“In my opinion, you are hurting Australia very much right now, and they want to get along with me,” Trump said, before telling Lyons to be “quiet” as he moved on to take Karl’s question about free speech.

In responding to Karl, Trump also referenced the $16 million settlement the ABC recently paid the president over on-air statement by correspondent George Stephanopoulos, who mistakenly said that Trump had been found liable for raping New York writer E. Jean Carroll (when he had in fact been found liable of sexual assault).

Describing this as a “form of hate speech,” Trump told Karl: “Maybe they’ll have to go after you.”

Tensions over free speech have intensified in the wake of Kirk’s brutal death last week.

The White House has framed the killing as a left-wing attack, despite a motive from the suspect, Tyler Robinson, remaining unclear.

But since Kirk was murdered last week, Trump has threatened to use racketeering laws to imprison Democratic donors he claims are funding agitation against the right; White House aide Stephen Miller has vowed to “go after” liberal non-government organizations believed to be targeting conservatives; and Vice President JD Vance has urged people to report anyone seen as celebrating Kirk’s death.

Bondi also doubled down on Tuesday, vowing to use the full force of the law to crack down on left-wing people using violent rhetoric to silence conservatives.

“Hate speech that crosses the line into threats of violence is NOT protected by the First Amendment. It’s a crime,” she posted on X.

“For far too long, we’ve watched the radical left normalize threats, call for assassinations, and cheer on political violence. That era is over.”

https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/trump-melts-down-abc-reporter-172636401.html

I noticed nothing was mentioned about right wing extremists who call for violence and hold hate speech filled rallies in towns across America and have podcasts. I wonder why that is?
