Any carp fishermen out there? I have never had much interest in carp fishing despite fishing my whole life. Now for some reason I do....must be some sort of mid life crisis lol. Anyways of anyone likes to fish carp have any advice or dough ball recipes I could use?

They take carp fishing seriously on the other side of the pond, they've actually made a science out of it. Google up "boilie recipes" for the types of bait they use. Boilies are similar to doughballs.

Back in the day, we used a concoction of cornmeal, flour, cinnamon and molasses. An old timer gave us the tip of putting cotton strands in the mix so it stays on the hook better. We caught carp like crazy, and some pretty big ones.

I thought carp were not considered to be good eating fish. Too boney, and also thought to be "impure" because they are bottom-feeding garbage fish. Are they fished for the sport of it?

I initially read the title as "crap" fisherman and thought, hey, this is the thread for me!

In the UK, carp are sought after as a great sport fish. Not eaten, just catch and release for the reasons mentioned. I think some Europeans eat them and I also think the fish gets mashed up as plant fertiliser.

Here in Aus, they are a pest introduced species like rabbits, foxes and cane toads. You can catch them, but it's illegal to re introduce to the waterways so you have to kill them or leave them die on the bank.

Goto your local bait and tackle and pickup the blood dough, it's red, it stinks and the carp and catfish love it!

Never made any homemade, I'd recommend doing it outside though due to smell haha.

Wheaties.

Just moisten a handful into a ball and toss it out there on a taught line.

About 3 seconds after I hit "Submit" when I replied to your post I thought, "gee, I think I gave him this website on the old Browns board". I know at times you used to post questions and answers there as well and I know I posted the site on there as well.

Myself, being close to Ladue I try to keep up with if/what they're pulling out of there.
