I am computer illiterate beyond belief..How in the world do I post a picture that is saved to either my phone or pc to a thread on this site??

Do I need a hosting site??

Damn I feel dumb..I'm sitting here by myself so cant ask family who is in the know for this stuff.

As Ive said in previous posts this posting stuff is knew to me so PLEASE be kind in your response.

If this wasnt the right place to post this sorry..kind of wanted a quicker response then posting in the help section.

Thanks

you have to have it hosted on the web then use a link to it to post here.

Goto imgur.com (any hosting site works)

Drag your image into the website and do the uploading process.

You will be given a link, use the "direct link".

Click the enter an image button on the dawgtalkers forum. Click non-floating. Copy in the link and hit submit and you're done.

Kingcob's right. Imgur is probably the easiest foolproof site to use. Upload the pick, copy the link and post it here. Has anyone figured out how to link fb since they upgraded?

Texas..I can do trig like no ones business..fluent in 3 different languages..can damn near fix anything mechanical/electrical..ect.

I'm not quite "Get of my lawn"! but I am retired now and I paid a person to do all the computer/technical power point and other stuff..or begged dear wife to handle it. I just refused to adapt to it in my life and it drove my wife nuts sometimes.

Cell phone, texting, sending pics that way I did/do...but the computer stuff I'm quite ignorant to it. No longer pay someone..home by myself quite a bit now..and I am trying to learn it.

And King thanks again..I understand it now.

I found a way, but it's clunky... and doesn't work all the time.

Using Chrome, right-click on the pic, choose "Search Google for this image." If it's available, go there... and link it to your DT post.

Basically, I haven't found a way to directly ink a fb pic to this site.

I'm kind of embarrassed to admit this but just to show I can poke fun of myself..I ruined countless computers and laptops because i didnt have virus protection..and would blame my wife or someone else for the problem:/

I liked going to sites that showed pay per view events without paying..and was in chinese or whatever..click on the wrong damn thing over and over and ruining said devises over and over.

And no, no porn sites for those that r thinking it:/

Now i just pay the money for the event or just not watch it.

For images, google something like 'free image hosting', pick a site, and follow its directions to get a link to your image.

Or more directly, go to a site like http://postimage.org/ click the box to the right of "select file to upload:", then click through your folders and get a direct link to your image.

Then post the link in your message. Different forums can do it differently but I think on here you just have to put the link inside img tags, like so: [img]www dot link to your image blah blah blah dot jpg[/img] -- or alternatively, there is an "Enter an image" button here on the reply page that I'm sure is easy enough to use.

Screenshots have some extra steps. One way would be to print screen, pull up an image editor (even mspaint is fine), paste it, crop out what you want, then go through the steps above. It's kind of a hassle. There's an extension for the Chrome Browser called Lightshot which significantly shortens the process. Basically you just click the button, drag what you want cropped, and it uploads it to a site automatically. It's probably available (or something comparable) for Firefox and other browsers. Windows has a similar built in tool.

As for computers/viruses and such, my advice would be to get a Chromebook. They aren't for everybody and explaining who they are for would require some explanation. Suffice it to say that they work well for people who are bad with computers and who have no desire to learn the ins and outs of them. The operating system is rock solid, far far far safer from viruses and such than Windows and Apple computers. They are maintenance free as they update themselves.

One of the compromises is that, in its default configuration, you cannot install programs locally on the machine. But if you are not doing anything heavy duty on it, that is probably not such a big deal. Most of your time is spent in a browser anyway. And any basic tasks such as photo editing, text editing, spreadsheets, powerpoints, etc can easily be handled in a browser (online and offline) with various sites and extensions. You can get them for $200 and, despite having modest specs on most models, they are actually quite fast because they are not bogged down by monstrosities of operating systems (e.g. Windows), redundant programs, malware, etc.

I thought somebody would have found a workaround by now. There's nothing out there so far. As of now, Imgur's the best bet for ease of use.

Chrome + Adblock Pro is your best friend for instances like that.

Just don't use it on Dawgtalkers.

You can copy the image link on facebook, go to imgur and upload it by the link (You can just hit ctrl+v on the upload screen or paste it in the box they give you). A little bit longer, but not too torturous.

I'll try it. It will cut out the step of saving the image to my computer first.
