I get to go in for an MRI Friday. Oh goodie. The doc said it will be a long one (Both head and cervical - I think that means neck). Last time I got to listen to the drum solo to In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida for an hour. The Doctors think I might have Browns Fan Syndrome.

Close your eyes, enjoy the ride and good luck! Visual imagery works well. Hope you're not claustrophobic.

When I 1st started this wonderful adventure I have been on with my back, I went for an MRI, and was just fine. My doctor gave me a pill to take to take the edge off so I could lie still without complete agony, and I was fine. I went in for one about a year and a half ago, and it's shocking how much of a difference 70# makes. That tube was tight around my body, and I really kinda freaked out. I wound up having to have my doctor gave me something that really made me loopy, and then was put in backwards. I managed to get through it, but even with all of that it was still freaking me out.

YTown, my Dad is like that. He gets something about a half hour before hand then sleeps the rest of the day, fairly happily!!

Well, when i was skinnier, I could get in the tube and have plenty of room all around me. Once I put on weight, that was no longer true, and getting in that tube seemed much tighter.

Head and cervical pppffftttt I nap through those ones. I have had 25 to 30 MRI's over the years. I am still getting 4 of them per year. One of the Brain every six months, and one of the stomach every six months.

I'm far from OK. But I'm doing OK. I'm confident that I'll be doing better once we exit the heat of summer. July and the first half of August have been brutally hot here in CT and I'm much less active in the heat. (for instance, the average night-time low the first half of August here is 62-63 degrees, we haven't been close to that in weeks (last Friday it was 80 degrees at 7 am and oppressively humid)) Too much. My apartment hallways are not air-conditioned and have no windows so from July to September they don't go below a stagnant 80 degrees - once I leave my apartment it's into the oven. And I'm on the top floor at the end of a long hallway. So coming and going from a hot walk outside is tough. I'm hopeful that once we start seeing 50-60 day-time highs I'll be able to put in a lot more time outdoors and that will make me happy. (happier) The more physically active I am, the happier I am (I think that's true for everybody) Plus I tend to get more sleep (my preference) with less daylight. Thanks for askin' dd.
