Browns are, once again, eligible for a mandatory appearance on Hard Knocks.

Personally, I wonder if 2018 will be the year. The Browns are coming off an 0-16 season, and will likely be building around the #1 overall selection of a shiny new quarterback. That's compelling television.

Adding to the decision will be the vocal nature of Williams/Jackson, the addition of an incredible number of rookies (6 selections in the top 65 picks) and surely some free agents.

Hue Jackson and Jimmy Haslam may desperately want it this season, as opposed to other years. Jackson spoke about having to re-recruit Browns fans, and a step towards doing that, at least throughout training camp and the preseason, is showing fans how hard they are working to get this team to the right place.

The powers that be may also be tempted to encourage the rolling cameras, knowing that players don't want to look foolish with it all documented. It may be added incentive to come back in shape and to play lights out throughout training camp.

The teams eligible for mandatory inclusion are:

Browns
49ers
Broncos
Chargers
Ravens
Redskins

I would also add that there will be incentive to participate given the Ravens are a possibility. A division rival stealing the limelight may be something Haslam doesn't want to see happen.

What does everything think: Would an appearance on Hark Knocks be a positive step towards building for the future, or detract from the task of rebuilding the worst team in football?

Personally, I would love it, and think it would be beneficial.

The 49ers are the obvious choice. The camera loves Jimmy Garoppolo and the NFL can build a new star.

You don't think HBO would clamor to feature the 0-16 Browns, a borderline irrelevant franchise outside the fans of the team, on Hard Knocks?

I don't, not for a irrelevant franchise. But we shall see.

Personally, I think that's why the 49ers are a poor choice. Garoppolo is a rising star - the NFL don't need to give the 49ers Hard Knocks to develop interest in that team. They'll naturally be one of the hottest commodities in the NFL.

I can see any of these as a possibility .. but I can definitely see Cleveland and SF as the top 2 choices

1. Redskins? Meh... Cousins will be gone. Nothing of importance
2. Ravens? They already had it once. Flacco is boring. No flashy players
3. Broncos? Maybe for Elway ... not much else tho
4. Chargers? Not LA again

The 49ers are probably the best choice for the NFL. You get a great head coach with a great QB. The Browns will probably be next. Who doesn't love an underdog story and the Browns will potentially have two top 5 picks in the NFL draft. 5 first round picks over the last two years. That's easy to market. Their 3rd choice is probably the Chargers. It would help keep production cost low if they stay in LA.

Also, we should remember that Dee owns a media company, so I'm sure they'll have other ways to market the team if the Browns don't get on Hard Knocks.

I think it would be cool [for me] to see the Browns on there because I could get a better feel for the team.

However, if I were the Browns, I would pass on being on the show. The national media makes fun of the Browns at every turn. The local media hates the coach. A lot of the fan base [at least on here] think Hue should be fired. All of these people will use every little thing that is said and done as an indictment against Hue specifically and the Browns in general.

I think a great quarterback is overshadowed by a high profile #1 pick, a former 2nd round pick and a veteran. Quarterback competition creates drama. There isn't a whole lot of that in San Fran.

Perhaps I'm biased, but if I was a producer, I see the most compelling story lines coming out of Cleveland. It's all subjective so I'm not saying you're wrong, that's just how I see it.

do we have to agree to it? or is it forced

The NFL has total control. I think a lot of the decision will be based on what we do in the FA market and the draft.

I can see us and San Fran in the lead for this. Shanahan is a young HC on the rise and after turning their season around at the end with JG at the helm it does make for a compelling story. Then there's us. Nough said.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

With the Dorsey hire that doesn't exclude us? Does that just apply to new HC's and not new GM's?
