An all-time great, I watched him play on TV when I was really young.

Sorry to read this. Stan was one of the all-timers.

R.I.P. Stan, my prayers are out for you and your family.

RIP stan

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

When I was a kid in the 60's, the Barons were pretty big in Cleveland. My dad took us to a few games at the old Cleveland Arena. Dad told us that the Barons were good enough to play in the NHL, but there were only 6 teams in the league back then, so the local team had to settle for the AHL. But even though the NHL was in its infancy compared to what it is now, with no national TV contract, I still knew about Stan Mikita and Bobby Hull ...

I read online tonight that Blackhawks fans called him "Stosh" ... RIP Stosh.

He and Bobby Hull were the first guys to start curving their sticks. Sounds dumb, but the league would not be where it was today without that little experiment. League may not even be around.

I'm sure the Hawks will do something up nice for him when the season starts. He was one of the few guys who stuck with everything when there was a pretty clear line drawn between former players and ownership.
