Obwan - jobi.
Just from watching clips of the practices mostly some from Building the Browns, and just overall from what I have seen.
Larry O is a tough guy. He is what I call a stout player. In most cases low guy wins. And Larry O plays that game well. He gets under guys pad level. He gets leverage and plays to strength.
He rarely gets moved around by the OL.
He plays gap coverage very well. He moves his man back and can get pressure from the middle.
And he always puts out with max effort.
The addition of Richardson is going help Larry O this year by not allowing interior lineman to control interior openings.
I see Larry O having a great year and really being tough against the inside run lanes.
This is his third year next to Myles. Who by the by is poised to explode this year.
I found it interesting in watching the DL in the Colts game. I have gotten used to watching Myles as the first off the snap. As soon as the game started I was like where is Myles? Because there was not that guy being first off the line.

He’s someone who is probably not talked about a lot, but I thought he had a stretch of dominance last year that was so important. I think having Richardson next to him will only make him more effective ... plus, his attitude and toughness is obviously needed too
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Honestly I have no idea what people think of him? Or, how he is ranked?
I look and stated what I saw.
I think he is good player. Will that earn him a pro bowl ticket?
So much is placed on sacks. And for interior linemen unless your name is Aaron Donald it is hard to get attention. Then you have Myles next to you so you get lost.
In the end he is an important part of this defense and will be key in stopping the run.

Hands down my favorite draft pick of 2017. I love Myles, but he came as billed and as hoped and expected. Larry, however, was a total unknown to many of us. I love his story and he has flat out balled since arriving. And, he comes across as a really solid guy too.
I'm not big on wearing jersey's and I have always been afraid to buy one of any new player given our history w/busted picks/cuts/trading etc, BUT, if I were to get one of any player on the current roster it would be an Ogunjobi jersey. To be honest, I actually looked around at the Stadium Fan Shop, but they didn't have one.

What stands with Ogj is he stands guys up. He gets under them and he is hard to move out of there.
Sometimes when the play goes away from a player; a guy can get lazy and coast.
I don't see that with him.

Maybe not, but for the big guys, I want them fresh. Run hard for 10 yards to your side before they outrun you. Off side guys, maybe save energy and jog to what looks like the cut back lane. Everybody can't sprint to the point of tackle as the play is unfolding then. The outside guys need to form a containment wall. Some have to aim for where the play might come from next. If not you get beat every time. I don't expect every player on the field to give 100% on every play. I expect 100% until they know they are out of the play, then get in to position to give 100% if it comes back at them. To me that is giving 100%. It's not just sprinting around like a wildman until you are out of energy. Giving 100% also includes using your head.

I always respect your football takes and I could be wrong about this.
However, I don't think Ogunjobi was all that great against the run last year. I thought he had a difficult time at getting off of blocks and that a lot of big runs went right by him. I also don't think he did a very good job of keeping blockers off of his linebackers.
I didn't study the guy and I could be wrong, but that is what I saw last year.
I do like him as a player, but I see him more as a disruptive influence who can rush the passer and make plays against the run behind the LOS by utilizing his quickness against bigger, slower offensive linemen. I do not view him as a stout run defender.

Larry Ogunjobi, O-gun-jo-bi
Remember what's his name from about 7 years ago who had about a dozen last names, the first two were hard enough.
He was a D-lineman too, but didn't really stick, longterm.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

I was at the practice today. I was the only one there wearing an Ogunjobi jersey. I asked a few different workers if they have seen any others. They all said mine was the first they'd seen.
edited to add; He was mic'd for today's practice. Much of his commentary was about having to pee. It was hi-Larry-ous.

I can't say I studied him last year.
I am going more from what little I have seen this year. You could be right about last year.
One thing is I think Richardson will help. Depending upon the quality of the DL in some cases there can be slides set up to help a lineman.
This is also a different scheme under Wilks. To date we have seen very little of these guys playing all together.
When I was watching him in practice drills from this year. He looked good. He was getting under guys pads and driving them. He was also maintaining his gap.
I didn't see him getting moved to any sides.
Now this is practice and it is against Browns players.
Last year there were times he flashed and showed strength and quickness. But it is was not consistent and I think there could have been other factors involved. Last year we got run on. But if I remember correctly a lot was outside.
With the add of Richardson and Vernon it is different group. Ogbah and the rotations at the other tackle position are gone.
I like what I have seen of him and am curious to see them play together. Early on in practice they were kicking butt.
I have seen times in the past when Richardson was a force. He has been with a few teams and I can't speak to what has been going on with him. I know what he can be if the effort is there.
Truthfully it is really hard to make an accurate assessment with what little we can actually see.
We have talent on defense. But it all boils down to how they play as a unit. No stripes on the helmet yet.

Yes! That's it and I couldn't even find the name online in all my searching. His full name was like a sentence.

The addition of Richardson is going help Larry O this year by not allowing interior lineman to control interior openings.
What is scary is that Larry is still raw and learning so he will get better and better. I noted your quote above because Richardson is a seasoned vet and has no problems even if only by example showing little things to Larry to increase his know how playing the position as well as being in the Film room with him breaking down the opposition.
Pound wise and speed he is one of the strongest, quickest physical specimens out there playing the game. I think he is the most Overlooked player on our DL. I believe the other 3 have all been in the Pro Bowl and recognized as great. So Larry get ignored by the TALKING HEADS...but I think our DL has the potential of "ALL" making it to the pro bowl. Larry is right up there!

Ogunjobi also played with a completely torn bicep for, at least, the final 3 or 4 games.

That takes some toughness for sure ... I was aware of it but kind of forgot about it too

Larry is a quality NFL player. One of the few remnants of Sashi.
There are very few that criticize him. I think that speaks volumes.
He was a good pick.
There will be no playoffs. Can’t play with who we have out there and compounding it with garbage playcalling and worse execution. We don’t have good skill players on offense period. Browns 20 - Bears 17.

He was a GREAT PICK ... Sashi/Depo STUNK ... they didn’t completely whiff ... This dudes got some skill and a ton of heart ... playing through that injury last year was INCREDIBLE .. He seems like a worker and he clearly loves his teammates after what he did last year ... lets hope the hard work paid off and he’s even better this year ... LETS GOOOOOOOOoooooo

Larry O reminds me somewhat of Ahytba Rubin. Hard nosed guy. Will show up consistently every game. Will give it his all, with no question.
Glad he's on our team.

Good comparison there ... and Larry is probably even more disruptive

Didn't know where to put this.
So I am posting it here.
First off I love Baldinger's breakdowns. For one he is able to edit and get the film so you can see the play right. Watching a regular game you often get screened out.
In this clip he breaks down Vernon. In the game it was clear he was having his way.

Ahh, I remember him.. He was very high on a ton of draft boards back then. Nobody could understand why he didn't go sooner than the 6th round to us. Turns out he wasn't all that good.

I think the Pats game will be a good post season test.
The only way you beat a guy like Brady or a Peyton is pressure without blitzing. We can do that.
If what we have seen in camp and pre-season is an indicater we should have bright Sundays.
The defense has been a pleasant surprise.
I didn't know what to expect from Wilks. So far it has been a pleasure.
