They’re having massive protests in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong was a democracy for almost the entire 20th century. But it was basically only “on loan” from China. It reverted to Chinese control in 1997.

China has been slowly converting Hong Kong politically.

The Hongkongers are starting to feel the pinch as their sovereignty slips away.

I wonder if this will become a world issue. (World Wars have been started over less)

I’m sure China would love nothing more than for the US to stupidly go to war over Hong Kong.

They got protestors showing up by the millions in Hong Kong. It's a bad scene and I think Trump should have shown some verbal support for their fight for democracy but I think they can handles this on their own. There is no shortage of people standing up over there.

You may be right.

But every World Citizen recognizes this image, now 30 years old:

Some targets stand tall enough to make history- and change the course of world events.

trump has enough blood on his hands at our southern boarder. May as well go to war with China now to cover up all the other atrocities he’s committed in the USA.

If China's response escalates into military involvement, its hard to say how our current leadership will respond.....especially given our current relationship with the Chinese economically....and the fact that our president is a total wildcard....

China is not going to start a military war, Trump might.

China has nobody to start a military war with, Hong Kong doesn't have a military.. except the Chinese military.

So if the Chinese military starts taking action against the civilian protestors of Hong Kong, what would you advise Trump to do?

You're right. I misread Tyler's post as I was going through all the threads. Didn't realize he was talking about HK, wasn't paying enough attention to the thread I was in.

I think that a lot of responses at this time are based on emotion without having any sense of history and how the Chinese actually have an agreement and a time line set to control Hong Kong. For anyone who is actually interested in understanding the situation.......
