I was just thinking to myself about running the ball.
College and to a degree the NFL has gone to pass base offenses. I can not say it is a trend or a cycle.
I didn't look up stats. Although I am sure that they can be found. The 49'ers, Seattle, Ravens and now the Browns are teams that feature the run or have done so in the past.
Of course not all teams have the runners or the OL to be effective. But with all the 4 wide sets and spread concepts a run base offense seems like a throwback. Maybe even archaic.
But when you have the right tools. It seems like you can control the game.
It may not be all that effective when trailing by a lot.
However, time of possession, with long ball control drives that results in touchdowns. That can take the heart out of a defense.
The Browns OL and their runners did just that to the cowpokes. They really got after them. The cowpoke defense was demoralized. Yes Dak scored late. But we dropped three clear int's. There is a lot more risk of turnovers when you throw all over the yard. Looks cool and it's exciting to watch. But not the way to long term success.
Some teams like the "greatest show on turf." They were a scoring machine. But that is not all that easy to build. The Chief's are an offensive juggernaut.
But finding quarterbacks like Kurt Warner and Mahomes not an easy task. Plus when a quarterback is that good they take a huge part of the payroll.
Maybe it is easier to find linemen and runners. Use TE's and fullbacks. Spread the money throughout the roster.
I like this offense. It should be more efficient and less risky for turnovers.
It doesn't put it all the quarterback and receivers.
It helps the OL. Pass protection can be frustrating. Run blocking. Linemen love to run block.
Just some thoughts on a Monday after ripping the Boy's.

The greatest show on turf had Marshall Falk, The great Indy teams had James.
Aikman is in the HOF with mediocre numbers and 3 rings. The best damn QB ever to play has no rings as they never were able to run the ball.
New Orleans has had any number of RB's pass through and they can run the ball.
You have to be able to run the ball when required.
Running the ball is one of the best defensive moves that can happen.
Defensive players stay fresh. The other team cannot score if they do not have the ball.
There will be no playoffs. Can’t play with who we have out there and compounding it with garbage playcalling and worse execution. We don’t have good skill players on offense period. Browns 20 - Bears 17.

Most people would look for balance.
The old adage of the run sets up the pass. It can be.
John Robinson with the Rams and Dickerson ran wild. The 85 Bears with Walter.
If you build it right with the right blend; it can be very effective.

I think I read that we have the 4th most rushing yards through the first 4 games of any team in the last 30 years.
The 3 teams that had more rushing yards either had Mike Vick or Lamar Jackson at QB.
Our OL is opening up some major holes in the run game. I love watching it!

A good OL with average backs and a competent QB can win.
You don't need a superstar back and you don't need a superstar QB. You just need good.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn. GM Strong

I believe you may be just a tad too far beyond your prime to accomplish that.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Can anyone repost the list of all the categories the Browns were #1 in the NFL after the Cowboy game again? I need to taunt Bengal fan.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.
