Sorry for your loss bone this disease sucks. Because of my health I've been in quaratine for almost 2 years. Wife and son went to funeral Monday for a good friend from Church died from covid. Earlier in the year my best friend 15 years earlier lost his son to a car accident and almost to the day 15 later lost another son to covid. This disease sucks and I will never forgive the Communist Chinese Party who did this to us
Anyways I thought we made a big time mistake ridding ourselves from Sheldon Richardson and Larry O our starting DTs, one of the few mistakes made by Berry he got too smart for his britches on the Sheldon call and insulted Sheldon to the point he burnt that bridge - we missed him and our D would have been much better if we kept them both.
Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!
What I enjoy about Quincy's takes is he deals with facts and calls it straight.
He makes good solid points. Woods took a lot of grief but he played the hand he was delt. In 2020 the defense was limited because Berry invested in the offense. In 2021 Berry made the defensive upgrades. It took a few games to get right and they had a few bad games. In the end they were the 5th ranked defense.
In 2022 the Browns could have an elite defense. That would go a long way if the offense is even average.
Berry needs to go all in with Clowney. If we have offer him the best deal. So be it.
He's transparent, too. He calls his opinion, opinion and does a really good (IMO) of maintaining a clear line of evidenced-based assertions and his own opinion. I'm also a fan.
There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.
He is my go to guy. The fact that he reminds me of my friend is a comfort.
All of what you stated is spot on. I enjoy football discussion. I try to start threads that the topic promotes discussion.
Unfortunately, some wish to criticise and attack. The thread "Possible Trades" is a good example. When I stated Hunt was a guy we could trade. It was like "what are you crazy?"
One person came up with another possible trade which was the point of the thread.
Quincy is a cool guy. He brings on other North guys who cover the Bengals, Steelers, and Ravens. They discuss football. I like that.

Well... to be fair... thinking about getting rid of Hunt IS nuts.

I need to watch more of him because I always think he has really solid takes... Well balanced and supported by film. He's sometimes a little more positive about things than I am but that's not a bad thing in itself... As I said he backs up his opinion and takes.
I'm on my phone. Will watch this take later and Comment. Thanks for sharing.
My biggest criticism of JW to date is a tendency to get conservative. Sometimes that might be called for briefly. BRIEFLY!! But JW has proven and the Rams this last weekend proved it AND the Bills just proved it.... Prevent defenses simply prevent you from winning.
The more things change the more they stay the same.
For sentimental reason, I absolutely HATE the idea of trading Hunt. He's a high level, home-grown talent that WANTS to play for his childhood team, the Cleveland Browns. The though of having a guy like that and trading him all willy-nilly just rubs me wrong.
Browns is the Browns
... there goes Joe Thomas, the best there ever was in this game.
Moreso than that, he's a talent and even though we have Chubb we rely on him quite a bit. For a team that's looking to win now, I say you keep him as long as possible. The point of the game is not to 'win' trades and the draft, but to win on the field. Winning trades and draft obviously helps the latter, but there's a point where you go too far.

Hunt had 841 yards rec and 304 yards rushing with 11TDs in 2020.
He's cheap insurance next year in the event Chubb misses time. Chubb has missed multiple games in each of the past two season. Hunt is a weapon in the pass game where D'Ernest Johnson is not.
Put a 2nd round tender on Johnson and keep all 3 together for another year.
In a trade, Hunt would not bring nearly the value he provides on the field.
There is no chance the Falcons trade Ridley for Hunt straight up. To get Ridley the Falcons will want a draft pick as they continue to look to get younger.
If you really want Ridley, start thinking about how of high a draft you're willing to give up. Personally, I wouldn't give higher than a 3rd for a guy who could checkout mentally at anytime.
I agree. Aside from trying to pinpoint a player in a trade, Hunt's value is at it's lowest right now. Supply and demand -- upcoming draft, upcoming free agents, possible trade targets, as teams explore their off-season strategies.
Making sure all three are under contract provides the most upside. If Hunt becomes "expendable" in terms of value to another team outweighing play on the field, his value goes up tremendously. A team looking for mid-season help due to injury and/or playoff hopes will likely sacrifice as high as a second round pick (Duke yielded a 3rd, so I think that is plausible). I can't possibly imagine that return right now.
One aspect to creating upside is opening more possibilities for return on investment. Johnson "studding-out", Felton becoming a weapon, etc... could spell a "high-value" Hunt trade during the season... those possibilities don't exist right now.
On Hunt I am a little biased - I love his attitude, I love the fire and brutality that he plays with and I love his unselfish relationship with Chubb. I think all of those bring more value than anything we could possibly get for him in a trade. Add to that - when he steps on the field as a sub for Chubb - there is really a minimal degree of difference. jmo.
On the D - and the QC take - he reminds us of a lot of very good things that we witnessed. Sort of glossed over some of the bad from early in the season ... but I really came around on JW as the season went on. The stats on our secondary and pass rush are very impressive. JOK and Newsome's immediate contributions are impressive. The future should be bright.
The more things change the more they stay the same.
I love what Hunt brings to the table. If he remains. I am fine with that.
However, again he is a free agent in 2023. Chubb was extended. Berry is not going to extend Hunt. He will get more money from someone else. He was 26 in August. He is a starter on almost any team.
He will go to another team and we will get nothing.
We can sign d'Earnest now for way less. He is a RFA.
I don't know about Ridley. I stated numerous times he would have to clear a mental exam and the Browns would have to be good with that. The Falcons runners are not as good as Hunt. Ridley is rumored to be available.
Explore it. Offer Hunt. Throw in Hooper. They know him. It is not like Hooper has no value. Maybe we have to pick up some of his salary. Maybe the Falcons would want to go with two TE sets along with Hunt. Hooper is a good blocker. They have Pitts.
Shop Hunt. If you don't get what you want. Keep him for 2022.
Berry is paid to explore ways to improve the team. That is what he should do.

Nobody is talking about willy nilly. Like I said, I'd like to keep him as well, but he has to extend. At this point it is basically a 1 year rental. I'd rather sign Johnson and get something for Hunt if we can't get him to sign before Johnson becomes a FA in March. Whichever one signs a 2-3 year deal first is the guy I would keep.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.
I saw you use that game in reference to that defense preventing teams from winning. I even quoted it. It did not prevent the Rams from winning. It's very basic.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I’ve tried explaining that in the other thread, but received some bs that we aren’t trading for Jim Brown.
The concept of available and possible trades is a great and fun talking point. But it’s “possible trades”, not possible trades that the Texans front office would only agree to.
