16 Elyria (1-9) at 1 St. Edward (8-1)

15 Euclid (1-9) at 2 Cleveland Heights (9-1)

14 Brunswick (3-7) at 3 Wadsworth (8-2)

I have no skin in the game, but honestly, how do 1, or even 3 win teams make the playoffs?

I hate that St Ed's has to play Elyria. I wish they would shrink the playoffs to 8. It's an insult to both teams.

14 East Liverpool (6-4) at 3 Poland (9-1)

Poland is where I was able to get wrestling in the schools. The Dogs are a closed enrollment school, which makes it more impressive that they can compete against open enrollment schools.

had the same thought... I don't remember it being like this when I was in high school.... seems insane to have a one win team in the 'playoffs'.....

They doubled the amount of playoff teams a couple of years ago from 8 to 16. Really a waste of a first round.

Area teams, for me anyway: D3, look for Defiance to lose. D4, look for Napoleon to lose. D5, Liberty Center should romp, Archbold and Coldwater is a toss up although Coldwater has had our number recently. D7 Patrick Henry should win.

Those pairings are wrong.
Lowest seed,in this case #12 Ignatius should be playing top seeded St.Ed
#8 seed Glen Oak should be at #2 Heights

Correct. The bracket comes first. For week 1 and 2 of the playoffs, the higher seed gets the home game. They don't redo the bracket, if that makes sense the way I'm explaining it.

I was correct on every pick.

This week, LC (liberty center) should win. PH (patrick henry) is going to be tough. for PH.

Although, Defiance, while losing, put up a good show against Toledo Central Catholic.

My wife went to PH. I wish they had more students. They have put together a great football program for a long time.

Eds vs Canton McKinley should be a much better game. #edsup

*It annoys me that Massolin is D2. I wish they would move them up to D1.

Struthers just beat my Poland Bulldogs in a rematch of the week ten OT game that Poland won. Struthers has a couple of decent players but have no passing game. If Lake can slow down the run game it should be an easy victory.

Medina beat Wadsworth which was a Win-Win since I know kids on each team. I'm hoping Medina can make a really strong run this year.

They are broadcasted live on Spectrum (Channel One I believe) only. You can pay $10 and stream it live on OSHAA.com. It is usually the first week in December now I believe.

Semifinal Bracket Pairings

FRIDAY NIGHT OHIO
Ohio high school football playoffs | OHSAA releases state semifinal bracket pairings
Canton Repository

COLUMBUS – If the powerful Hoban and Massillon high school football teams are to meet this year in the state playoffs, it will not be until the Division II state championship game in Canton. Same with an all-Summit County matchup of Walsh Jesuit vs. Green or Hoban vs. Green.

The Ohio High School Athletic Association announced the bracket pairings for next week’s football state semifinals. According to the OHSAA, the geography of the schools involved in each region is the primary factor in determining how the regional champions will be paired in the state semifinals.

A team’s won-lost record, regional seed and state rank do not factor into the state semifinal bracket pairings.

The way the geography sets up in Division II, the Hoban-Walsh Jesuit winner plays the Highland-Avon winner. The Massillon-Green winner plays either Cincinnati Anderson or Cincinnati Withrow. All four of those regional finals are Friday, along with the regional championships from elsewhere around the state.

Pairings for this Friday’s regional finals are included below. Locations for the state semifinals will be announced on Saturday following the regional finals Friday night.
