Just picked one up today. Apparently you can even make a cake with it lol. Questions for all:

What are your thoughts on them, if you have one? What’s a food type to avoid? How good are the hot dogs if you cook them in one?

My buddy and I just had this conversation. Hima and I love talking about our charcoal grilling techniques and recipes. Given the weather, he bought himself an air fryer a few months ago. He said that they are great when reheating fried food. Breaded fish, wings, fries, etc. - It seems like the perfect device to crisp or re-crisp something up. I’d like to try it with pizza and some McDonald’s fries. - See if it can bring back the fresh off the line taste.

I have one, in the form of my Breville countertop oven. I absolutely love it, use it multiple times per day, and would put it up against any piece of commercial equipment.

The first time I reheated french fries in this thing, I was blown away. The next time, I purposely saved a bunch of Five Guys fries... they were still legit three days later. Amazing. Much like Muni stated as the verdict from his buddy -- these things are amazing for cooking 'fried' food without a fryer or reheating something that was previously fried.

Anybody ever hear of "Red Bag Chicken"? Started with a cult following and is now widely known as the Chick-fil-A knock off. It's a fried chicken filet from Aldis (who also happens to sell the prefect accompanying Brioche bun). They have two versions, thus this one became known as "the one in the red bag". It caught fire during COVID and the shortages were so profound that there were FB groups tracking store inventory, ala, "Score -- 59th and Elm in ______ City" rofl Truly hilarious, sad and scary all at the same time.

Aaaaanyway. Cooking one of those breasts in an air fryer and assembling that sandwich to specs? As close to real as any other knock off I've ever seen.

Hot dogs? I like a good beef dog like a Hebrew or Nathans. I've never tried it -- but I will now -- I bet it will be amazing.

Just gently slice or score it a couple times on each side so it doesn't explode or come out looking like a question mark similar to this (no need to be this elaborate):

Stay away from KALORIK. We had all kinds of problems with it and it is hard to clean. We got the Emeril 26 QT recently and love it! It does recommend a dedicated outlet for 1700 watts. I could not do that but did find a 1700 rated extension cord. I love the grill feature its not in many fryers. Great for one of my koji steaks I do them often! and we love the rotisserie chicken. Its just me and the wife at home we rarely turn on the big gas anymore.

I have a Cuisinart air fryer, and I have used the heck out of it.

Looks like a Canadian thing, eh? Ratings look like people love it.

These things are basically high air-flow convection ovens. You can cook pretty much anything in them. If it fits and doesn't create a nightmarish clean-up, give it a shot. When in doubt just google _______ air fryer, I'm sure someone has tried it and has a thumbs up or down on the experience.

Have fun!

Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes into us at midnight very clean. It's perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands. It hopes we've learned something from yesterday. -John Wayne

All of our children are grown so I think any air fryer people consider purchasing should be something that fits your needs. My wife loves Ninja products and I don't tend to contest what she wants in the kitchen. So this is the model we chose to buy. You can cook two things set at different times and temperatures at the same time. We love it! While it doesn't make frozen foods any healthier it does take the grease and fat out of the cooking process when air frying over deep frying and the results are excellent. This one has options such as baking and broiling so it's very veraitile as well.

We found those “red bag chicken”, Aldi Chicken filets about a year ago. They are so good. We always have a bag in the freezer and a bag of them in the freezer in the basement.
