Every year a team is seeking for someone to step up. To fill the role they envisioned when they signed the guy.
We talk about needing a linebacker. Mohamoud Diabate is a guy we shouldn't sleep on.

While not drafted, he was signed as a preferred free agent. I think we signed him to 5th round money. The guy has good size and seems to have the instincts and tools to be a guy who steps up this year.

So, he is my don't sleep on player. How about you?

Interesting that you mentioned him. I have a very close friend who knows his uncle very well.

I agree he could surprise people. He had a very good year on the special teams in coverage.

He has many good traits that should translate to our defensive scheme.

I thought Hurst played really well for us till he was injured. He has a great motor and some damn good inside moves.

I'll go with Siaki Ika. Hopefully, he can take off in year 2. Maybe Jacques Cesaire can help unlock what they saw in him when he was drafted.

I came across this interview that has me feeling somewhat optimistic that it could click:
Cesaire DLine philosophy on Texans' Radio Link

I like the comment around the 3:20 mark. He feels like a fit with Schwartz there. Elsewhere could see things Stefanski would seem to like (teaching focus, preparedness, etc.)

Here's hoping he can get all the DLine to show progress.

Cedrick Tillman. I just wrote about him in another thread so I thought I’d double-down

I agree with you. I think Cedrick Tillman will have a really good season.

Conklin/ Jones- I'm worried about players coming back from injury- we/they can't sleep on PAST performances- how have they responded to the INJURY BUG- and what have they got NOW for the team.

J/C: After a lot of thought with positions and injury issues I came to the conclusion that my guy not to sleep on is Dawand Jones. He exceeded expectations in most eyes and I believe he will win the starting Tackle job. I have not heard a lot on his own injury or a timeframe for his return but I think we have seen just the tip of the iceberg with his talent.

I know Tillman is a favorite

If David Bell makes the roster. I would really like to see him have a good year

On the D side I would hope to see Caleb Johnson do really well.

If we draft a receiver fairly early, Bell is on the bubble. It will just depend on how many receivers we decide to roster. Cooper, Jeudy, Moore, and Tillman would all seem to be locks. The newly drafted guy would get a slot.

I agree with you. I think Cedrick Tillman will have a really good season.

I'll give that a third. I saw so much potential in his skill set I have trouble believing he won't break out in year two.

My pick is: Siaki Ika - they didn’t hand him anything last season. Which I hope lit a fire in him for his off-season training. Alot of people are very down on him on here. First he was a 3rd round pick, Second was he getting minutes over Tomlinson, Hurst, Harris, even Elliot?

I cant wait to see him blow up this season.

I think I would not sleep on Jerry Jeudy this season. After Amon-Ra St.Brown signs his new 30 million/year contract, Jerry will want something similar since he was projected to be much better.

The Browns already signed him to a three year extension that's good through 2027.

If Jerry plays up to what he was projected, I would be shocked if he plays out his three-year contract.

So you expect him to sit out and refuse to play? Come on man.

I suspect that he meant that the Browns would have him play out all 3 years of his new deal.

I should have said. I would be shocked if Jerry does not ask for a new contract if he plays up to his projection.

That sounds reasonable. Players do that a lot. As of now Amari Cooper's contract expires at the end of the 2024 season. From my understanding the Browns have been working to extend his contract. So the entire answer to all of this are two fold. If they extend Cooper's contract Jeudy will not be the #1 WR in Cleveland. That greatly diminishes his leverage in getting more money as the #2 WR.

If however the Browns can not sign Cooper to an extension and Jeudy can step up big time your scenario is a possibility.

I liked the rookie CB we drafted last year Cam Mitchell. I think he has some upside

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."
