Well at least we have one thing going for us.....

Browns top special teams rankings
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on February 14, 2010 11:04 AM ET
Rick Gosselin's special teams rankings are a tradition unlike any other.

(And since I'm not participating in any other February 14th traditions with my wife at work all day, this will have to do on this first football-free Sunday since August.)

The Cleveland Browns topped Gosselin's rankings by a wide margin. Josh Cribbs was a huge factor on returns and his nine special teams tackles helped the Browns finish first in kickoff coverage. The rankings include 22 different categories.

Special teams probably turned the Browns from a one or two win team to a 5-11squad, but the Super Bowl participants proved you can survive one weak unit. The Colts finished 28th and the Saints were the lowest-ranked Super Bowl champion ever at 29th.

......and the 5-11 Browns rank 1st . I guess (contrary to popular belief) special teams play may be over-rated.

Not really, we'd have been more like 1-15 or 2-14 if we weren't great on special teams.

Maybe if the Colts special teams were ranked higher, they could have won the Superbowl.

Apparantly not, they were already ranked higher than the Saints.

I pefer to think that if we were average on offense and defense we would have finished 12 and 4.

One for the Helmet Stripe Nation! Good to see us up there. Kindly settle the Josh Matter sensibly and let's hunker down for some FA improvement! Good for us!
