These guys on my list hold a special meaning to me growing up,
ANDRA DAVIS!!!!!!!!!!! Leigh Bodden Lee Suggs My Man Orpheus Roye Kenard Lang Arron Shea The Fris-man Jackson
BTW I am being serious. Going to training camp and what not around town, these guys always made time for me. Andra Davis lived close to me in Berea, would always see him and his family around time, GREAT guy. The others hold a special place for various reasons. I decided to go all new school guys as well.
"The medium for the bad news was ESPN, which figured. The network represents much of what is loud, obnoxious and empty in sports today."
I want to add Jerry Sherk, Jim Houston, Ernie Kellerman and Walt Sumner -- as good a safety tandem as Dix and Minnie were corners -- and DE Bill Glass.
There isn't a current Brown I would consider as "All-Time Favorite" and that includes Cribber. I believe every man I have previously listed has played in a playoff game. That's my basic criterion for being a Favorite. Cribbs is "All-Time" but he is not one of my favorites, all-time,....yet.

out of curiosity what did you like about the guys that aren't Andra Davis?
Unfortunatly for me I never got to see any of the greats play cause I am too young. So all of the players I have actually seen play are from 1999 til now. That being said, here is my favorite players
Sean Jones Jamir Miller Joe Jurevicius Mike Furrey Derek Anderson(shame things didnt work out differant) Josh Cribbs Joe Thomas Aaron Shea
The following players made my jaw drop when seeing them in person:
Clay Mathews - stopped Earl Campbell one on one, always seemed to be in the right place. Chip Banks - Vicious tackles Robert L. Jackson - same Thom Darden - I was at the game in Cincy where he laid McInally out Brian Sipe - too many plays to mention Dave Logan - sacrificed himself and caught anything thrown near him Mike Pruitt - always ground out enough yardage for a first down Bernie - No explanation needed Dixon, Minniefield - best coverage tandem of all time Brian Brennan - just fun to watch him get open Ozzie - always got the needed yardage Eric Turner - vicious open field hits Jamir Miller - you could tell he was a man among boys in the early years of the return
And into the forest I go, to lose my mind and find my soul. - John Muir
Bernie Kosar, Webster Slaughter, Reggie Langhorne, Clay Matthews, Jerry Ball, Eric Turner, Eric Metcalf, Tim Couch..... ummmmm (the list is dwindling here haha); Paul Zukauskus cuz I actually met him and talked to him... Cribbs, Joe Thomas, Phil Dawson. I always liked Daylon McCutcheon, too.
Dick Ambrose I wore 52 in HS because of him Tom Deleone Slaughter Both the Pruitts Kosar Sipe Kelly Mathews Dixon Turner Minnifield Dieken Sherk Michael Dean Perry
The list could go on and on..
Not to many Favs from the current teams JThomas A Mack

out of curiosity what did you like about the guys that aren't Andra Davis?
My love doesn't always stem rationally. Arron Shea - started in Dallas game when KW2 broke his leg. It was 3rd and 7 and he got the ball about 2 yds up the field, he then lowered his shoulder and RAN OVER 3 dallas players for something like 15 yds. Probably his best play of his career but I LOVED his toughness and effort esp when many (cough kevin johnson cough) would have just gone down or ran out of bounds. Plus at training camp he always remember me and would say hi.
The Fris used to come into the garden center I worked at in the summers. First time he came in I was helping him load a grill into his car and he stopped and talked with me for at least 20 minutes. I asked him if it was true about his ability to throw the ball through the uprights on his knees, and he then went on to show me his arm in the parking lot. The first game that season was his 9 catches for 109 yds and a TD against the Bengals. I thought he was going to be legit, didn't work out but still like him.
Roye and Lang stem from TC and their play on the field. They were always funny in TC and looked like they were having a blast. Also both gave it their all on the field at ALL times. Including Lang doing what RAC asked so he could stay in Cleveland, didn't work out for him at OLBer but I applaud him for trying. Plus you factor in his uni-brow....
Bodden I like him because he was an undrafted FA and for a couple of years was one of the better corners in the league. Always had a knack for being around the ball. Liked his attitude and again was a cool guy at TC, would take time to sign autographs after practice for the kids when other guys would just walk straight into the showers.
Suggs I liked because of his game against the bengals, always thought he had the talent to be legit, too bad he was made out of glass.

In my earliest days of being a Browns fan, all the kids idolized Jimmy Brown. A contrarian even at the age of 6 or 7, I decided my favorite was Bobby Mitchell ... think Eric Metcalf with some size and power. I've often wondered about the Browns fortunes if they hadn't traded him for the late Ernie Davis. How many championships, even Super Bowls?
Yes, keeping him teamed with Brown and that defense,...but Mitchell -- while having a HOF career with the Skins -- never really impressed me much in terms of getting the Skins anywhere. They just didn't have the other horses.
Agreed,...too bad for us. You just can't see leukemia coming.
In hindsight - I never thought of such things as a kid - you wonder why you would make that trade. Jim Brown and Ernie Davis were of a type; big, fast, feature backs. But there is still only one ball. At the same time Brown and Mitchell were a mix that must have been hell to defense - a big fast fullback who could catch the ball and a big, faster change-of-pace halfback that could run inside or get deep on a cornerback in your passing game. Throw in guys like Kelly, Warfield, and Collins ... it could have been a legendary offense with Ryan at the helm and a great OL.
The only way that trade makes sense is if the Browns were contemplating trading Jim Brown.
Sorry, not intending to hijack the thread, but that trade has always perplexed me.
(I did some research on the Site's History page,...that OLine was devastating. Think about the transition from Jim Brown to Leroy Kelly as your lead back. The ground game never missed a beat.)
NNIACO,...Groza, Schafrath, John Brown, Wooten, Hickerson, Monte Clark, Mike McCormack, and MICHIGAN Man Johnny Morrow @ C.
More forgotten favorites -- LBer's Dale Lindsey and Billy Andrews; both studs in their day.
I have a feeling that Joe might take that number one spot for me some day. Not only is he an excellent football player but he has a huge heart and he is an extraordinary man off the field. I jumped for joy the day we drafted him.
