My own personal list which is a difficult endeavor. Just wanted to rank the play on the field that I saw and list where they were actually selected in the draft.

I'm sure a left a few out but did my best.
Curious to see draft position versus performance. It's why I'm always a fan of having more draft picks in the first couple rounds. I don't have a problem trading back in a draft if you have a good personnel guy as GM.

That's a good list, but I wouldn't put Demarco Murray much higher than Helu. They both had about the same amount of total yards and TDs. Murray got about a fourth of his production in one game vs the Rams. I'd drop Murray to the 16-20 range and move everyone else up.

Yes, Demarco had one huge game against the Rams, but he also had the overall better season. Also, Helu had 8 carries vs. the Rams for 35yds (4.38YPC). So, he had his chance against them too.
Of course, Murray had injury red flags coming out of OU and got injured after 7 starts. So, Helu might be the back you'd want going forward, but if you just rate on last year, I think almost anyone would take Murray.

Adrian Clayborn did much better than I expected. Maybe you forgot about him? And Mason Foster? Probably just forgot to check the Bucs.

Actually I was counting on missing some for sure. The list was actually generated by things that I saw, not what was written. Unfortunately (fortunately?) I didn't catch a single TB game this year. They may be the only team I didn't see. I only caught 1 Carolina game and 1.5 for the Rams (tuned in when they were leading the 'Aints. Usually if they're playing 1:00pm games on the East coast and are not a marquee team or a team playing well (Buffalo for example this year) I may miss them completely. The other bias is that obviously I didn't watch all 16 games for any team except the Browns. So I didn't see the entire body of work. Aldon Smith is a prime example. I caught a few 49ers games and each time he would go BEAST MODE for stretches. Maybe he doesn't deserve to be ranked ahead of Miller but I saw a better player in Smith. He was far more productive per snap too by the numbers so I felt comfortable with my choice. Please add to the list everyone! I just did it as an excercise to see where the best rookies in 2011 were drafted the prior year.

makes sense. and i agree with you on smith ahead of miller. Not to say miller didn't have a very good rookie year, but he did have dumervil on the other side.

Right. I said Murray should be ahead of Helu, but I wouldn't put him as high as 8 on the list. His contribution was very helpful to the Cowboys once Jones went down, but not top 10 draft-like. I think 16-20 range is reasonable for him on this list.

looking at some names you may have missed:
Wisniewski - OG for Raiders. I'd have him in the top10 (you had in HM). he was paving HUGE holes for McFadden before he got hurt and then for Bush after.
Franklin - been highlighted in Tebow's run. Broncos starting RT for NFL's best running attack.
Acho - got a bigger role later in the year, did well, and the AZ defense also got better (not all him obviously, but he played well)
Kelce - 6th round OC who struggled at times, but Eagles had injury issues there and he sure helped.

Some other guys who belong on that list: DE/OLB Acho, ARI...7 sacks and 4 FF in 10 starts...he was drafted right after TE Cameron...he was the RDE we needed and the prospect I wanted  CB R.Sherman, SEA....rookie leader in pass deflections with 21, started 10 games, 4 INTs...late round gem, was considered a raw as he just switched to CB late in College OLB KJ Wright, SEA...another mid rounder I liked, he was the reason Curry was traded away, 12 starts, strong against the run, 2 sacks, 1 FF MLB C.McCarthy, TEN....1 of 3 LBs I wanted in the 4th (Wright and Matthesw the others), took over MLB for Titans, 7 starts, 2 FF, 1 INT and lots of tackles DE McPhee, BAL...late round gem for Ozzie, 6 sacks from the bench, way up there in pressure to play ratio OT Hairston, BUF...part of the OL that alloweed the fewest sacks around the league...mid rounder C Pouncey, MIA...not a big fan as a 1st rounder but started all 16 games and was solid OT Franklin, DEN....started 16 games at RT for the Donks, part of a strong run blocking unit G Wisniewski, OAK...started 16 games at LG C Kelce, PHI...1 of only 6 rookie OL that started all 16 games...the other 2 are Tyron Smith and Pinkston...I think every rookie OL that starts all 16 games should get Top 50 consideration...goes to show how rare and special that is

Totally forgot about Sherman. And I watched plenty of Seahawks games. Great catch. He actually merits 10-20 range consideration.
Acho....yes it looks like he belongs in there too.
Franklin...I didn't pay enough attention to his work when watching Broncos games.
The others I think are Honorable Mention territory.

On production alone, I'd remove the following names: Locker (1-2 games?), Ingram, Houston, and Smith. Would put Julio and Kerrigan above Torrey Smith...

Danny Watkins is turrible. Just because a guard is chosen in the first round doesn't mean he's any good. That was an awful pick and it didn't make sense at the time. I think he's like 27 years old?
Nate Solder had a pretty good year overall.
And did anyone notice that all the LBers were 3 point stance sack guys. Strange.

The Fiireman..Danny Watkins! I remember a few pimping him. Didn't pay attention to him this year but he did make all rookie team. I didn't want him I know that. To tell you the truth I thought Denver ran a 4-3 Defense. I know he plays on the outside and they move him up to the line of scrimmage but I didn't think he put his hand on the ground. I didn't pay attention.
