When the Detroit Lions traded running back Jerome Harrison to the Philadelphia Eagles last season, heads were turned when the deal was voided. Eagles team doctors determined the running back had a brain tumor.

Harrison had the tumor removed and hasn't played since. His former Cleveland Browns teammate, Josh Cribbs, told MLive.com that Harrison's health has declined to the point that he is suffering a string of post-tumor seizures.

After Cribbs suffered a nasty concussion against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 4, his family urged him to walk away from football.

"(My wife) wants me to be seen by another specialist," Cribbs told MLive.com. "She wants me to get a CAT scan, especially with what happened to (Harrison). I still go over to his house every now and then and talk to him. He's doing pretty bad. He's in and out of the hospital with seizures. They just don't want the same thing to happen to me."

Despite the concussion, Cribbs is expected to play Sunday against the New York Giants. Harrison has not been as lucky, and we wish him well.

Get well soon Jerome. He has been the best running back since the Browns return so far, and I salute him for it.

Hope all is well Josh. We appreciate the effort you've put in over the years.

Seizures are pretty serious stuff... can lead to some bad brain damage... sure hope Jerome gets better... hope they can find the point of his seizures and get them under control.

And I agree with Cribbs... has to be incredibly difficult for his family.

Wow, I hope that he's able to beat this so that he can have a normal life.

I think Cribbs should listen to his family.

You really have to feel bad for Jerome. I hope he gets his health back, but let's not go overboard about his on-the-field performance.

I have absolutely no idea how you can call a guy "the best since our return" when he rushed for a TOTAL of 1400 yards and 6 TD over the course of 5 seasons. He never had a 1000 yard season. He never had a 200 carry season. I mean he averaged 27 yards per game during his time as a Brown.

Sad story for sure, but he's not even close to the best we've had here. We've had more than 1 RB put up better #s in one season than Harrison's entire career here. A couple impressive performance does not make a career to me, it's the body of work. He's not even in the top 3 since our return IMO.

As for Cribbs, I have no idea how he plays today. I have no idea how he plays again period. I texted my friend the minute he got hit and was obviously out cold and I said "Cribbs career is done". You have to think as he gets older and interacts with more of his friends who are now out of the game like Jerome, he'll have to start thinking a bit more about his own health and happiness for the long term and if it's worth it. Unfortunately for him that really takes away the one thing Josh always brought to the football field, which was his kamikaze reckless abandon and disdain for his own health.
