Vince Young sent letter of apology to Jeff Fisher

After spending the 2012 season out of football, free agent quarterback Vince Young is attempting to draw interest from NFL teams this offseason. Young is working towards his college degree at the University of Texas and is scheduled to work out at the school's pro day on March 26.
Another part of Young's plan to re-enter the NFL was to apologize to Jeff Fisher, the current head coach of the St. Louis Rams who was Young's head coach with the Tennessee Titans for five seasons. Young's often volatile tenure with the Titans ended after the 2010 season. The tipping point in that relationship was a locker room argument between Young and Fisher following a Week 11 loss to the Washington Redskins.
[Also: Jets should get value for CB Darrelle Revis if they trade him]
Young discussed his recent letter of apology to Fisher during a Wednesday appearance on The NFL Network.
"I definitely wanted to apologize for the things that I did," Young said. "Letting him know about the frustrations, all the different things that were going on in my life at the time and wanted him to know I really did appreciate him trying to make me become one of those type of leaders on the team and a successful quarterback. ... At the time being immature and not paying attention and not listening and taking my frustrations out on a lot of people wasn't the right thing to do."
Young, who turns 30 in May, attributed his off-field issues to both his well-documented financial struggles as well as the tragic death of Steve McNair, his friend and mentor.
"I don't really feel like it was my game. I just really feel like (it was) some of the off-the-field issues," Young said. "I really feel like teams don't want their quarterback to be in a position where they're distracted.
"I was young at the time and I put my trust in a lot of people. I was getting taken advantage of. Basically I'm the victim of the situation. Just got to clean up that mess, just to let teams know I'm a little bit more mature than I used to be. I've grown a whole lot."
Hopefully Young has matured, but it may be a bit puzzling to NFL teams that he continues to deflect responsibility and blames other people for his off-field issues. That lack of accountability may be equally as troubling to teams as Young's inability to secure a role last season as the backup to Ryan Fitzpatrick on the Buffalo Bills roster. Still, if Young demonstrates similar athleticism that led to him being selected with the third overall pick of the 2006 NFL Draft, some team will surely find a place on their 90-man roster for him.
It only takes one.

..........

With all the talk of bringing someone in to compete with Weeden... could Young be someone to be considered ? He has the arm for the downfield game and the athleticism to escape the rush.

The front office says they want to bring in someone to compete with Weeden. Would Vince Young push him? If Young has matured and learned his lesson, would he make the Browns a better team ?

I hope Vince has learned his lessons, but I think he has burnt his NFL bridges ... JMHO

I think Young is after a paycheck to get rid of that multimillion-dollar debt he got swindled into and that's about it.

Has he matured? hmm, he says he has. He's said a lot of things. So I don't know.

Can he challenge Weeden? probably, but can he beat Weeden? I'd put money on no.

Honestly, I don't think he's matured at all. I think he's just trying to do whatever he can to get a paycheck again.

as funny as it would be to see Colt and Vince go head-to-head for the backup QB spot, I don't think so.

he's still claiming to be the victim in all of this stuff and says he wants to just get back to where he was before the financial troubles.

well, except his issues with Fisher started before all of that in that he was reportedly not the best of off-field workers in the film room and such.

he just didn't come off in this interview as truly contrite and ready to do everything and anything that will be needed from him.

I don't think its even a thought that our FO will consider.

Al Davis alive...I'd say 95% he's a Raider making his comeback...who knows now.

JMHO

maybe Pete Carroll still remembers the Rose Bowl and wants a backup more in the style of Russell Wilson?

It was actually a 300K loan. He's also bought every seat on an airplane once before so he and his posse could fly alone.

I'd stay far away from the guy.
